RunninTeach

Cathlete
Morning, girls! :)

I'm up early to get out there and run before the humidity kicks in. Afterward, it'll be the KM leg drills and/or a Squeeze mishmosh.

Kathy Smith was my first video instructor, too...I still have her k'box workout and will dust it off every once in a blue moon, but once I started w/ Cathe, everything else paled in comparison.

Diana ~ I was at work when the road trip opened up...it was maybe 5 minutes after 12 when I was able to get to the computer. And since it printed up an invoice, I thought I was in. What a letdown to find out later that it sold out THAT quickly!

Angie ~ sorry about the hangover!...and oh yeah, I would miss chicken, too! Duh, how'd I leave that out? I eat way more of that than red meat...Yes, I am seeing pretty good results from this rotation. Today ends week one of the 2nd round. As of the four-week mark, my weight had stayed the same, but I lost some inches and have gotten a couple of comments from others that I look like I've gotten slimmer. I definitely do see a bit more definition in my legs. I did my first rotation (of any kind) right before the X. Prior to that, I worked out with no plan - just did whatever I felt like doing that day. We're training so much smarter now, aren't we?

Have a great day & great w/outs, ladies! Will BBL.

Morning all

This morning is soooooo much better than yesterday - LOL! I need the energy to tackle this house!! DH and one DS is gone doing something....I didn't really ask b/c I didn't really care. He said yesterday "do you mind if we go...." and that's all I really heard. My reply was "will you take the boys?" LOL! I love my alone time.:7

Diana - Hey thanks for the P90X-Cathe hybrid. I think I will do something similar. I will print it out and tweek it even more to my likings. I will probably do mostly P90X with some Cathe's scattered in there to help alleviate the boredom. My fear is that the X the second time around will be even more tough on the boredom factor since they are not NEW workouts like they were the first time around. I might try to do it as long as I can without subs and then give in when it starts driving me nuts. And, I know it will, especially in the 3rd round.;(

Cathy - We are working out smarter aren't we?? I'm kicking myself for not doing this earlier! But, I was kicking myself before I found Cathe for not trying her w/o earlier too.:) I guess better late than never. Why, oh why, didn't I look at Cathe's monthly rotations and actually do them? If I would have done that, I would have seen results and maybe something would have clicked in my head then. LOL!
I had a dream about my class reunion last night that I have scheduled for October of this year. I will be looking much different than the last reunion 5 years ago!:)....thanks to Cathe, Tony, and sparkpeople. Any of you have reunions coming up?
You can't argue with looking better and losing inches even if the scale doesn't move. It'll come around sooner or later. But, wearing a smaller pant size and getting comments from people is so fun isn't it?? Congrats to you on that! :)
Are you on a 12 week rotation? Is it a Cathe rotation?

Gotta go fill up my coffee cup.:7 Laundry is calling my name.x(

I'll check back with you girls later

Angie

Hi Ladies,

Well I never got around to working out yesterday. I just never felt like it so I guess that means I was ready for a day off. Anyway, I'm doing my new kickbox workout with my new 12lb body bar today:) I'll report back on how difficult it is with the body bar. I keep checking for the Aug rotation-shouldn't that come out today or tomorrow, or will it be next weekend?

Cathy-It is so hot here that I haven't ran outside since April sometime. I'm a fair weather runner so September is sounding good for running. I wish there was another way to do the road trip, like a lottery or something. Those who are interested sign up and then they draw from the pool of names.

Angie-glad you're feeling better today:) I wish I could be as excited as you about doing another P90X rotation. I really struggled in round 3. The idea is starting to grow on me. You know, we have the new 4 day split coming soon and that's a heavy rotation too.

BBL

Diana

Hey Diana - I wouldn't REALLY say I was excited about another X rotation - LOL! But, my arms are fading and I just can't sit still for that.:) So, if that means more Tony - then so be it! I also struggled to keep it up on the 3rd round. That's why I'm wondering if I will be able to keep going with it. I guess I'll just give it a shot and do what I can do. I'm sure I'll be subbing early on, but that's OK, as long as I can get the results.:)

I'm so excited to get Cathe's new w/o! I also should be getting those new Tony workouts any day now. I will definitely be putting the X on hold when Cathe's new stuff gets here!!! I'm so excited about those! Did I already say that?? *lol* Oh, and I got the 30# hand weights from Walmart last week.;-) So glad they had them in - finally! The cashier did not like checking me out that day. She couldn't believe they were for me. *lol* She obviously was not a Catheite!;-)

Have you all checked out the blog lately? Neat news on her new w/o!

OK - haven't done anything yet and I really need to tackle laundry and then I think I'll get SJP out of the way before lunch so I can watch the race later on while I'm doing laundry.

Check ya later girls

Hey girls!!!

Well, we're back! California is all they say it is. We went from San Francisco down to LA along the coast and saw most things along the coast. It's truly gorgeous. I loved San Fran the best!! (although Malibu, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, etc. aren't too shabby either). We're exhausted!!! The weather in California is perfect so I understand why some people choose to live on a fault line for it.

My eating wasn't so good. I tried to make good choices when I could and decided that you live once at other times. Plus we did a ton of walking, etc. so no worries. No formal exercise though which I'm counting as my rest week. I haven't hit the scale and I don't plan to. I've already cleaned up the eating and I'll wait a bit.

BUT........my poor old dog isn't doing well. We're not sure yet exactly what it is but we think the time is near. He's 14 years old and I think he's pretty tired. We have a vet appointment tomorrow. I cosidered not going on this trip because of him but I knew that it would be one of the few times available to go when everyone could make it. My mom and her caretaker took care of him and I know they did a great job but I still have some guilt. He's eating and drinking very little and all he does is sleep. His back is hunched and I have a feeling he has a bowel obstruction or something. He hasn't had a bowel movement in two days.

I'm sorry to go on and on........ I love him more than I love most people, lol. There will be no talking to us when we get the word from the vet which I think is coming. There's no way I'll let my best friend suffer and he's too old to do anything really agressive. I'll let you know tomorrow how we make out.

I know, it's all about me. I hope everyone is doing well. I have a lot to catch up on the Cathe forums, etc. But first comes my dog and laundry and house, etc. I'm so glad to be home though. I don't go back to work until August 26th and plan on staying close to home for that time.

Okay, please pray for us for the next few days.....I have a feeling we'll really need it.

Nancy

ETA - I copied and pasted this twice for two threads. I hate doing this and like to be more personal - I just don't have the head for it. I'll catch up soon.

Angie :: Hope you’re enjoying that alone time…re: P90X, I forgot to mention I will be doing a second round with Wendy in January. Seemed like a good time to reduce cardio – when it’s cold out and I’ll be doing less outdoor running, anyway…This year would be my 15-year reunion, but I haven’t heard anything and don’t keep in close contact with anyone from HS. I haven’t gone to any of mine…I am doing 4-week rotations…The last one and the one I’m doing now were both based on Cathe’s Aug. 04 rotation…I did check the blog…sounds like boot camp will be an awesome workout!

Diana :: I think the rotations usually come out on the 1st or maybe the day before…how’d it go with the 12 lb. bar today? I’ll bet that got into your core good…The lottery method is an excellent idea for future road trips.

Nancy :: welcome back! Glad you enjoyed your trip. I agree, San Fran is a beautiful city. I’m sure the indulgences were balanced by all that walking. Sorry to hear about your dog not doing well. Thoughts are with you.

Hi again girls

Hey Nancy - glad you are back, you were missed. So glad you had a fun vacation. I'll bet you're ready to be back home for a while though to get back on track with everything. Vacations are good for a change of pace and to remind us how much we take "home" for granted.
So sorry to hear about your pup. We have a beagle that is about 13 and she is slowly starting to fail. She's probably got a couple of more good years left in her but I'm sure I will be feeling your pain all too soon. It is so sad when our pets aren't doing well since they truly are a part of our families.:( Hopefully you'll get some better news that you expect with the vet. ((((hugs))))

Cathy - I'm not quite alone. :( DH left the youngest one here. He is the one who has a tendency to lose his little mind if you know what I mean. *lol* He is my wild child. But, he does just fine when he's not with his brother. They mix like oil and water of coarse.x( He keeps himself occupied very well when he's by himself.....or should I say, not with his brother. He doesn't want to be around me at all - it's just not cool.:7
So did you graduate in 92? I don't get a chance to really keep in touch with many people from school either since I don't live in the area anymore. But, I did grow up with almost all of them. We only had about 38 people in our class so even though I wouldn't say we were all close, we do all know each other pretty well. There's some folks I can't wait to see. Like the good looking jock who is now losing his hair. *lol* I still like him though and he still has a nice body (at least at our last reunion). I used to have such a huge crush on him.:+

Anyways, I finally tackled SJP. I hit the wall only 14 minutes into it. I think my blood sugar bottomed out. I went back upstairs and ate a peach and then I was able to finish it up. Maybe still some dehydration from yesterday? After that, I had some fruit and veges with a tuna sandwich and now I feel great. :) Tomorrow is Imax2!:) My favorite w/o!!

But, now that my w/o is done, I don't have the energy I had earlier.:( I think I'm gonna try another cup of java and if that doesn't do it, I'm just gonna snuggle down with my book. Plan B sounds good to me.:7

Enjoy your Sunday afternoon all

Angie

Angie,
*lol* about your wild child and the tendency to lose his mind. How old are both your boys?...Yes, I graduated in 92...I am reaching the point where I am now old enough to be my students' mom. ACK!...So, you gonna show off your X bod at the reunion? :D (I would!)...What are you reading now? I'm taking a bit of a break from the professional reading and doing some personal reading this week. Missing Mom by Joyce Carol Oates, my all-time favorite author. Hers are hard to put down, and this is no exception.

My workout was awesome with the body bar. I actually ended up doing the first section twice I liked it so much. I did the cardio kickbox, combat drills, abs, then the cardio kickbox section again. It was awesome! My shoulders are already feelin' it so I'm sure I'll have doms tomorrow.

Nancy-glad you had a wonderful time on your trip. I actually was born in California and lived in Anaheim/Orange County. I'm sorry your dog is not doing well. I'll be sending good vibes your way.

Angie-I didn't know you and Wendy were planning another X rotation in January. I might be up to the challenge by then. I'm guessing you're a country bumpkin with only 38 kids in your class? Your comments about the jock made me laugh. I've been to my husbands 5 and 10 yr reunions but we didn't go to the 20 yr reunion. Please don't say I'm old...I don't feel old. By the way, my kids are great individually, but put them together and its time to fight. I don't know why that is.

Cathy-you're too funny "old enough to be my students' mom".

Diana

Cathe - I don't really feel comfortable showing off my bod - whether it's post X or not *lol*. I've never really had a body that I've ever wanted to show off and I guess have always been a bit shy about revealing too much. I have never worn a tank top or even just a sports bra with nothing else. It's just not me. However, a nicely sculpted body will show under a nice pair of jeans or a short sleeve shirt, so that's all I'm really after. The only other comments from DH when everything comes off is all I need. }( After all, he's the only one that's going to see it all anyways. LOL!
The reunion isn't until October so I will be wearing jeans and long sleeved shirt probably anyways. We're supposed to go golfing beforehand, which is something I haven't done in a couple of years. Yup - I should have no problem making a fool of myself. Some things never change.;-)
Cameron (wild child) is 9 and Cody will be 13 next month. Cody just got accepted into a writing camp this summer. It is quite pricey at $400 for a 4 day camp, but I thought it would be really important for him to learn some writing skills over the summer. It's being hosted by a local author who writes the Michigan & American Chillers books that are super cool. Cody's stoked and I'm happy that he is so excited about something educational.;-)
You are not old! Because I am 5 years older than you are *lol*. You'll always be a youngster to me.;-)
Oh, and I'm reading The Palace Affair by Uma-Mary Parker. I have no rhyme or reason to picking out books to read at the library. Usually if I like the cover I'll check out the book.:7 I used to really like Mary Higgins Clark, but her books have become predictable to me now. So, I just browse, pick up a book, and take it home.

Diana - I don't know how old you are, but you also are not old! The way you work out, you've got to be young!!! Glad to hear that you like your new workout.
It is Cathy and Wendy that are planning the X rotation in January. Sounds like a good idea to me. But, I might have to do one in a week or so b/c I am missing my arms.
Yup - country bumpkin. Went to Beal City, which is a farm school in the middle of nowhere. Only about 200 kids in the whole high school. I didn't like the fact that I knew everyone in school when I was going there, but realize that it was probably a good thing now. It kept me out of trouble! Everyone knew everything that happened there. At that time, there were really no drugs or bad things going on that kids have to deal with now. But, you were labeled in Kindergarten and kept it for 12 years.:D I was a book worm and a basketball player which really didn't fuel my social life if you know what I mean. I was liked in school but never had a boyfriend. There were lots of clicks and I just wasn't a girlie girl. I had some self esteem issues to deal with after leaving school and had a bit of a rebellion period in my life when I went to college. I guess everything worked out just fine. But, you couldn't pay me enough to go thru adolescence again!! :p :7

Angie

Diana :: glad to hear the 12 lb. bar gave you a great w/out. Looking forward to trying that one again in a few weeks, this time with the unloaded bar as I mentioned. Wonder how much that thing weighs.

Angie :: Well, I don't *feel* old, and I think I do *look* a little younger than I am, but it *is* kind of an odd feeling when kids talk about the year they were born and you were graduating HS or college then! Or when their parents are about my age, and here I'm not even married let alone able to imagine my life with a 13-year-old kid!...Oh, I just meant lookin' good at your reunion, not necessarily wearing anything super revealing. I'm sure you'll knock 'em dead! :)..That's great for Cody to attend the writing camp and be so excited about it! Sounds like a terrific opportunity. (Love their names, btw.)
