Good Morning Folks!

Today's plan is Butts and Guts at nap time and a run or EXT in the evening.

Diana: Your DH doesn't know about your piercing yet? You are a bad girl!}( LOL

Angie: A half marathon is 13.1 miles. A full marathon is 26.2 miles. Ya train for a half by running alot! LOL I'll be training to walk/run it so I'll be walking AND running when I train. The training schedule I got online has you walking/running up to 6 days per week. That's too much for me. I will probably cut that back to 4 days and will do 2 solid runs, 1 solid walk and 1 walk/run. All of the training is only 30-45 minutes long and then you have the weekly LONG session. This is where you gradually increase your mileage to prepare yourself for the distance you will run in the race. This is the day I will actually walk/run since that's what I want to do in the race. So are ya sorry you asked? LOL :p

Morning, girlies! :D

How we doin’ today?

Laura :: What a disgrace that folks are still struggling two years later to rebuild and repair their lives post-Katrina…loved the phrase about seeing “nature’s beauty and fury”…Sounds like there were some sobering moments, but glad you had a great trip overall ~ we missed ya!

Wendy :: Big Ed’s sounds like my kinda place!! Garlic dinner rolls??? Yummmm…Like the idea of ordering the appetizer + a salad as your meal and eating only half…I have ordered just an app before – like at Chili’s where I heart the Southwestern Egg Rolls – but of course, I house the whole thing, and in the case of the egg rolls, it’s so bad for you that I guess it defeats the purpose, anyway…Damn!! $75?? September is a time when I don’t spend too much money since the paychecks don't start rollin’ in again til mid-month…I’m still open to it…I guess it’s a huge race and probably has some decent amenities…Yeah, I’m especially happy with the Nimbus 9s. They’ve done well with this update…I did see Mizunos yesterday, but they were all running shoes…Amazing how all these running shoes are available – you *know* there aren’t THAT many people using them for running…:) Glad you got your wheels back.

Nancy :: I don’t get FitTV and have not seen Namaste Yoga…It is just the name of the series, not really a type of yoga…From what you’ve described, it sounds like vinyasa flow yoga. Usually that means it will move at a good pace…I wish I had FitTV here – it’d be great to be able to preview workouts like that!…Oh yeah, that B&G Leg Blast is a killer, isn’t it?

Diana :: glad the piercing didn’t hurt too much…why would DH make fun? I would think a guy would be proud to have a wife who can wear a belly button ring. Anyone over the age of 16 who can pull it off has every reason to be! I know I sure couldn’t get away with it. Hell, I’m still looking for my bellybutton…*lol* j/k My gut ain’t pretty, but it’s not quite THAT bad. :p

Angie :: I tend not to like floor work w/ ankle weights, but I forced myself to do a floor work premix recently, and I was glad I did…just for a change…you know, the ol’ good-to-work the-muscles-differently-sometimes thing…you did give yourself one helluva w/out! *lol*…I have running shoes I’m very happy with (have been stuck w/ Asics Nimbus since the mid-90s), but now need an updated cross-training shoe. I ordered a pair through Zappos yesterday…they should be here today…Am in total agreement re: the insurance companies…you are so right.

My plan today was to do BC (possibly a premix) in the AM, but I woke up with a stomachache and am feelin' a little out-of-sorts at the moment. Thinking out loud here, I *could* wait til tonight and try out the new kicks. Guess I'll play by ear.

Have a great day!

Morning Ladies ..

getting an early check in .. going to be another "one of those days" here at the asylum!!

B&G was popular exercise of choice these past few days .. SIL did it for the first time Sunday .. and she has cussed me all day yesterday .. said she either had to stay standing or stay sitting down .. the up and down was killing her .. she did not even make the lunch workout OR class last night!! My boss saw her and said she was moving like an old woman .. lol .. gotta love it!!

OK .. I have MAJOR DOMS in the triceps from BBC .. and worse is the DOMS in my rear end from my own class .. did lower body circuit which is similar to B&G but not NEAR as bad and set up differently .. LOL .. we worked circuits of lunges, then squats, then lrg step ups, then plia's, then back to reverse lunges .. then to floor work .. all done in 3 set sequences  .. sure my class is cussing me too!! LOL

today is BBC shoulder at lunch .. tonight it the "kickass" class  .. yes I am a glutton for punishment!

Nancy .. ITA about the rich getting richer .. just ticks me off to no end!!! OH .. ITA also about B&G too .. YIKES .. that is one insane workout!!!

Angie .. hope the worm hunting was a success .. I don't know about the "if you had girls" comment .. b/c I can remember PLENTY of days spent in the horse barn digging for earthworms ... LOL .. I wasn't a "tomboy" .. but wasn't a "girly girl" either .. loved catching those slippery things (I won't mention what we were digging in to get the worms .. eeeeewwwww) ... went fishing w/my Dad every chance I got .. guess that is why I love it so now!!! LOL

Wendy .. my hats off to anyone who can do a 1/2 or a full marathon .. GEEZE .. the 5 k race is enough for me .. LOL!! I don't get running that far and I am always amazed at anyone who CAN!!! So KUDOS! I will be rooting for you!!:D

Cathe and Diana.. on the devestation .. VERY humbling!! and the insurance companies are the MAIN reason for the delay in building .. our friends lost everything .. even their business had no income whatsoever .. then you have a MAJOR clean up .. and NO money!! poor things .. I can not even imagine .. we did a fundraiser for their community and ended up raising about $3,000.00 for the families there .. and took LOTS of donated food, clothing, etc after the storm ... but still just a drop in the bucket .. you know! ITA about the health insurance being the same way .. they are all crooks!!!

OK .. on with my day ... have a great day everyone .. I will BBL if these sore fingers can type .. LOL .. have a great day and great sweaty workouts ..

:7

Morning girls (barely morning anyways):)

Another late night with not very good results.:( I told DS that I won't be out there again until after a good storm. Geesh - it's hard to stay up that late and mess up my schedule in the middle of the week. Yup, I know, you'd think I would know better - LOL!

Today I have cardio & weights on tap.:) I LOVE that workout. I don't know why but it just flies by. I think that one has good music on it too, which makes a big difference. I sure hope Cathe gets some good tunes for the new series. I wasn't a fan of her newest music in the last series.:(

Wendy - nope - not sorry I asked even one little bit. I get quite an education at this site and I love it! Wow! That is amazing - I hope you do it, b/c we all know that you can!;-)
Did you do all of B&G or do you do a premix? I agree that it is a very popular w/o this week.:)
Dinner sounds very yummy:9 Now I have a carb craving!:p

Cathy - No income until the middle of the month? You must be a financial wizzard too. I know lots of people who live paycheck to paycheck and would have a really hard, if not impossible time budgeting for the summer.
How's the tutoring going? Do you tutor just one subject?
Your chats about the shoes sounds like you are talking some foreign language. LOL! Boy, do I have a lot to learn about running!
I don't use the ankle weights in B&G - it's hard enough without them! I also can't complete both sets of the side lying leg lifts with the ball. I have to get rid of the ball halfway through the second set - sometimes earlier. Yikes!

Laura - You are so mean to SIL! }( Is she a Catheite yet? Did you tell her about the pre-sale. Although, at this point she might not be too interested. LOL!:p I always wonder....what would you do to her if you DIDN'T like her??
You're right about the girl thing. My sister and I were night an day. She was definitely the girly girl. She was daddy's little girl, and I was daddy's buddy. Sounds like we were very similar as kids. I was a tomboy! I much preferred matchbox cars over barbies and jeans over dresses (still do). I was/am a spiderman comic book collector but I don't know how to sew at all or decorate very well. I was definitely a tom boy! Not much has changed, but I think as adults you can pretty much get away with anything. People are surprised when they see a woman hook a worm or unhook a fish. I'm not as willing to get my hands dirty as I was when I was a kid, but hey, that's what they made latex gloves for.

Diana - Glad everything went well with the piercing. I agree that if you can pull it off you should be proud! I don't think anyone would ever see mine if I got it done. I still have that pooch under my belly button that moved in after I had kids. Urg!! }( Darn kids!!}( I think I should have them do B&G so they can experience the pain they have caused me. LOL!
Have fun with your class tonight - last one right? Hope the filming goes off without a hitch

Nancy - I know you're out there somewhere. What ya got goin' today. Are you packing already for vacation #2?

BBL girls

Angie

Hey girls -

Feeling a bit lazy today..........had a good night sleep but I feel tired. Not much planned today. I'll workout later, not sure what. My butt and legs are fried from yesterday.

Angie - Yeah, the packing has begun. I'm used to renting condos with washer/dryer units, etc. so this is a nightmare trying to figure what you need for 8 days (and maybe some days two outfits). I know I'll re-wear some things but it's still hard. I dread the day I come home to 5 people's dirty laundry for 8 days. I wash clothes everyday now.

Cathy - Oh......Namaste isn't a type of yoga? I guess it's vinyasa then because it does move quickly. You should see the shape on the girls too. So long and lean. Like dancers bodies. Not in my wildest dreams.............

Wendy - I like the sound of the training for the half marathon. Good luck with it.

Diana - I must have missed something. I'll have to go back to read it. It sounds like you had your belly button pierced and your DH still doesn't know about it??? You're a brave one although it's your body and he should have little to say about it. My DH would have a fit though (not that I'd care too much). I'm just too old now, unfortunately, and would feel like I'm trying to keep up with my daughters (who don't have one but............) ya know?

Okay, have a good one!!!

Nancy

Hi again girls

LOL! Nancy - I hear you on the laundry dilemma. Maybe you'll have to take a day to find a laundrymat on vacation? That sounds like a lot of fun doesn't it? x(

Wendy - I just checked out the PT site you recommended. Wow! They sure do have a lot of stuff don't they. I'm so intrigued! I'm thinking I want to do this. How long did it take you to do the 250 questions? How about the case study? How did you do the visual portion? I'm thinking that you do a pose and have someone take a picture and then email all the poses to them? Is that right or am I not getting the jist of this? Are they like push up, pull up, tricep kickback, etc. type of poses that they want? I'm just so interested - sorry about all the questions - hope you don't mind.

Angie

Good Afternoon Ladies.

I just finished Butts and Guts but I did my own premix that I like to call "Butt with out the Guts"! LOL Yeah, I did everything but the ab work!:p WOW, I was thinking that may have been the first time I ever did that work out in full (aside from the abs) and if not, then it's only the second time I've done it cause I didn't remember alot of the exercises! HOLY MOLY! I am fried!}(

So I still have cardio to do at the gym tonight...can't decide if it's gonna be a run or the EXT! Decisions, decisions!:p

Hi Nancy! I hope you kick your lazy feelin' to the curb and get to that work out soon!}(

Angie, I don't mind the questions so long as I am capable of answering them! ;) I spread taking the written exam out over the course of several weeks so I really have no idea how long any one part of it took. Sorry I can't answer that for you.
As far as the practical portion, you have to demonstrate how to do the 25 exercises that they give you. If you do it by photograph then you have to submit 2 photographs per exercise. One in the starting position of the exercise and one in the ending position of the exercise. This is as per the directions I have straight from the AFPA. If you videotape it the you demonstrate each exercise by doing 2 reps of it and you must explain what you are doing as if you were with a client explaining to them how to perform it. Here are a few examples of the exercises I had to demonstrate: Barbell squat, reverse lunge, barbell bench press, db lat row, prone opposite arm and leg raise, abdominal crunch. There were 25 in all and my video ended up being about 30 minutes long. Anything else you want to know? :+

Laura :: enjoy the DOMS (what’s this? Even your *fingers* are sore??) and try to stay sane!

Angie :: it does take some strict budgeting to make it through the summer…It helps that I usually *do* work in the summer, either FT or PT…Today was the first day of tutoring…it went very well…the kid I’m working with is bright and willing to work, and that makes the job so much easier…I am certified in English 7-12 and elementary K-8, so I could do the other subjects up through 8th grade, but my preference is language arts…the tomboy comments are funny to me as I played with Matchbox cars *and* with Barbies…Sounds great re: the PT plans – go for it!!

Nancy :: Yeah, I hear you on having the yoga/dancer’s body…not happening here either. *lol* I say pack versatile but pack light ~ whatever you forget or need, you can always BUY when you’re out there! :)

Wendy :: so you didn't break in the 20#s today??? Have fun tonight @ the gym!

OK Ladies .. wondering if my rear end will make it!!! OUCHIE!!! hate to hear what my class has to say ....

and I HOPE I can do the "kick@$$" class tonight .. maybe it will get better when I start moving .. LOL!!!

... did not have the shoulder BBC in the car .. forgot it at the house .. so opted for heavy shoulder and back in the gym! OH yeah ..what is not sore today will be tommorrow! and I still have class to go in about an hour!

LOTS of planks so the shoulders for sure will be DEEP FRIED tommorrow!;)

Wish me luck! LOL:7

Hi again girls

DS had his first practice at football camp tonight. We were there for about an hour just watching him and I asked DH if he wanted to walk over to the track area to check it out since we couldn't see it thru the trees from where we were standing. It is so nice and half of it is shaded in the evening.:) It has the rubbery type surface so it was easy on the feet. We walked a mile tonight and I told DH I would be bringin my tennies tomorrow and doing my w/o at the track. People are gonna be wondering why I'm all sweaty when I go to pick up DS, but I really don't much care. Oh, I wish I would just break down and buy that darn ipod so that I could try the CC w/o.:7 DS seemed to like the football camp so that is a good thing. I hope the enthusiasm stays high.

Cathy - I think that would be fun to tutor someone who is willing to work. Half the time I think a lot of kids just get lost in the shuffle b/c of increased numbers of kids in the classroom and some, thankfully, very few teachers "deadwood" who don't care. Which reminds me, I need to break out the handwriting book for DS so he can practice his skills. DS had terribly sloppy handwriting and I'm hoping to maybe help him this summer. I can't believe summer is just flying by!

Wendy - yup - a couple more questions. What is the difference between AFPA and ACE certification? Why did you choose one over the other? Did DH videotape your exercise moves for the video? Do they send you videotapes or send you to a website to learn proper form and technique for exercises or is it covered in the books?
I really appreciate your taking the time to answer all my questions. Thank you!!;-)

Laura - Are you punnishing yourself for taking vacation? Has your SIL recovered yet? LOL!}( You are a crazy girl for sure. Hopefully you'll be able to move tomorrow.

I gotta go and load the dishwasher before bed and clean off the countertop. My house looks like a tornado has gone thru.:(

Until tomorrow.....

Angie
