P90X Grads and Nancy...Monday again...

Hey Ladies.

Today is technically supposed to be my rest day but I am opting to do some yoga. I will be with out a car for a couple of days as mine went in for *BIG* service last night so I will need the exercise to keep me sane since I will be feeling trapped. :-(

Tomorrow I am going to start week #4 of my rotation but I am changing it up a bit. Instead of doing the Pyramids I plan to do the following:

T: Butts n Gutts & ITread or IClimb
W: X Chest and Back
R: Spin & maybe yoga
F: Shoulders & Arms
S: Lower Body Circuit Work Out
S: Rest

Oh and I have decided to train for a half marathon. I am shooting to be ready for the Philadelphia Marathon/Half that takes place in mid November!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well...I'll be back in a bit.

Hey, girls! Happy Monday…

Today will be a working day for me, so yoga (later) will be a welcome break. Went to chiro this morning and then on a fruitless continued hunt for crosstrainers. Yesterday it was no dice at Dick's, Sports Authority, and Kohl's. Today I struck out at two local shoe warehouses and Burlington Coat Factory. I did find a good Asics shoe – but they only had it in wide with. So I searched online – wouldn't you know, style discontinued. Welcome to my world. *lol* So, I went with an alternate on zappos. Love the fact that they deliver overnight.

Anywho, personals...

Angie :: since the X (end of May), I have been four-week rotations…so, it’ll be another 4 weeks of leg concentration…they need the work!!

Nancy :: Sorry that your mom is not well…Please feel free to share anything. That’s what we’re here for.

Wendy :: so hold on, girl ~ you are doing the Philly half??? Hmmm…you know that’s a stone’s throw from me. Hmmm… http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/39.gif

Hi to Diana and Laura! You back in the asylum?

Have a GREAT day, ladies! BBL
Cathy http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/16.gif

Cathy,

The Philly half is my choice simply because it gives me an extra month to train for it. I am waiting to hear back from my running friend to see what she thinks though as she is thinking of doing this with me. The more the merrier though! }( Would you really consider doing it? I am definatley going with the walk/run strategy for my first HM. Depending on how it goes I will then consider running the next one. I would love it if you decided to join us! :)

Sorry you are having so much trouble finding new cross trainers. I have the Ryka N Gage and LOVE them but I don't know if that's something you would go for or not. What did you order from Zappos?

Oh, I forgot to post this when I gave my race report but I took a chance and wore my new kicks to the race on Saturday! They did not let me down! They felt GREAT through the entire race! That is truly a testament that it's a good shoe for me, huh? :)

BBL!:+

Absolutely. I'll think about it. I haven't done a half in 10 years...:) Let me see how the next month or so of training goes, so I can decide if it's realistic for me right now.

I didn't see the Ryka N Gage - I did try a couple of Rykas, but they just weren't right for me. I ordered the Asics Gel 130-TR, whatever that means. *lol* I've been running in the Nimbus for years now...I guess my feet are happy in Asics, so I'm hoping it'll be true for the X-trainers.

Glad the new kicks needed no break-in period! Yup, I'd say you've got a winner there.

Hellooooo Ladies ..

Yes I am back .. and have a mound of paperwork .. naturally!

The trip went great .. safe and FUN!!! We went to Port Sulpher, LA to get a boat motor from one of our friends. Dang they are still in a mess down there. Our friend and his family are living in a trailer and just now starting building back .. the insurance did not pay and now they are in a law suit. His Dad is living in a FEMA trlr and trying to rebuild .. pretty hard to do when you didn't get money from insurance .. bless their hearts.

Port Sulpher is right next to Empire, LA where the eye of Katrina came on shore .. it wiped out the entire area .. so sad .. and everywhere you looked there was a slab where a house was and a FEMA trlr sitting in front of it .. just so sad and so disturbing .. and SO HUMBLING .... to see the devesation and struggle they are still going thru .. yet to see their pure joy for life and to hear them laugh and cut up .. just filled my heart w/joy and humbleness .. how dare I complain about a thing .. these people are striving even though so much is against them!

Anyway .. after that on to Biloxi .. ok .. it is now written in stone I am NOT a gambler .. the saying lucky in love .... it certainly true in my case .. I lost my @$$ x( .. but man did we have a great time!!:D :D .. and got some much needed alone time!!!}( }(

So the diet was NON EXISTANCE .. the CABS flowed freely .. the exercise was NON EXISTANCE ... but all in all .. it was worth it b/c we had a blast . . got to see some old DEAR friends .. got to see natures beauty and fury .. got to eat some wonderful food .. and even though I lost at gambling it was a BLAST!!!:7

Today was back to reality ... BBC arm torture at lunch and boy could I tell I laid off for a couple of days .. they are shaking so hard I can barely type .. I upped my weight (yeah real smart after laying off) ... LOL .. tonight is lower body step circuit!

Next vacation is 4 or so weeks away .. DIVE paradise in Key Largo, FL ... so gotta stop goofing off and get to it!!

Nancy .. sorry to hear about your Mom .. HUGS to you!!! you are welcome to vent anytime ... I feel your pain!!

Wendy .. congrats on your race .. your story had me cracking up!!

Angie ... truck and tractor pulls ... worm hunting .. fishing .... are you sure you are not in the South???

Cathe ... hope your day goes well ... the asylum has all the workers present today .. once I tackle the paperwork .. maybe it will be smooth sailing .. LOL!!!

Diana .. gotta tell me about the bodyblast (?) workout ... you are getting as good as Wendy as far as finding new workouts!!!

Ok .. rambled long enough .. have a great day .. and great sweaty workouts .. I know I will!!!:7

Hi Laura. Welcome back. Glad you had such a good time. Horrible to hear that those poor people are STILL trying to rebuild after Katrina. Just awful. :-( Another vacation in just 4 weeks? Lucky girl! I leave for vacation next thursday! I can't wait!:+

Well, just finished Baron's Long and Lean yoga. I didn't do the upper body strength segment but did the rest of it. Felt good. Now I won't feel guilty if I don't get to it on Thursday night (my normal yoga night).

So now that I have decided to train for a half the idea of doing a P90 Masters rotation when I get back from vaca is blown! LOL I need to figure out what and how often to do weight work though. I am thinking of doing 1 day of upper and 1 day of lower or maybe 2 f/b days?? I know I can't work it the way I've been. This is gonna be hard for me to do as I am sooo loving it! Oh well...gotta change it up, right?

Well, can't hang around any longer...have things to do before going out. We are going out for dinner for DH's Birthday tonight and also going to stop at a couple of stores along the way. I have decided to break down and buy a set of 20# DB's! }( I have the adjustable DB set that works like a BB but it's such a pain in the U know what so I am opting for the regular 20 pounders instead. The adjustable set also can not be used for certain exercises cause those types of DB's are not easily held in certain positions. I am also going to buy a pair of 1# weight plates for my BB.

BBL!:+

Hey girls!!!

Thanks for all the well-wishes about my mom. Yeah...it's an ongoing battle for her (and me). On a bright note, we have a wonderful live-in who my mother loves. She has a neurological something (even doctors are stumped) and is always dizzy, etc. She has all of her wits though so that is good. It's truly a nightmare!!!!!

Laura - your trip sounds like it was really needed and I'm glad you had a good time. Wow...those poor people trying to rebuild after all of this time. I can't believe insurance companies get away with crap like this. We just had our homeowners cancelled on us because now, after a zillion years with the same company, we are a hurricane risk. How can they get away with this?????? Well, we did find a new company to cover us but that's not the point. We gave you all of our hard-earned money for all of these years and now that you decide we are risk you can just drop us?????? I don't get it. The insurance company was Allstate - so don't buy anything through them.

Wendy - I hope all is well. I would hate to have my wheels taken from me. I know the feeling of trapped. I hate it. Good luck on training for the half-marathon. I give you a lot of credit.

Cathy - I need new sneakers too and don't know what I want yet. I don't run though so I just need some support. I'm using New Balance right now and I've like them - they're just getting old now.
I was watching a show on Fittv this morning - Namaste Yoga for long distance runners (or something like that). It looked like something I might like. It seemed to move so much faster than the yoga I've seen before. (I didn't actually do it though - just watched it, lol). I may tape it as they're replaying it again at 6 pm. Know anything about this type of yoga? Is it always this fast-moving?

Okay, going to do B&G Leg premix in a few. We ran to Macy's this afternoon to buy some cute outfits for our tour of California. We leave Friday (7/20) and will return next Saturday (7/28) - so I'll be missing in action again for a while. I must sound like a world traveler when in reality we're not.

Okay, I'll be around later.

Nancy

<<<,The insurance company was Allstate - so don't buy anything through them>>>

Yeah Nancy are our friends insurance was w/Allstate also .. "your in good hands" MY @$$ ... some had State Farm .. same story .. yeah NEVER buy anything from these companies ...

our friends were talking about taking the money they would pay for insurance and put it into savings .. build it up and screw it .. if it blows away or gets washed away .. at least the insurance people won't profit .. that is IF you don't have a mortgage.. if you have a mortgage then you HAVE to have insurance .. so screwed either way you look at it. .

strange thing is .. the same insurance company PAID for his business .. but NOT his home .. and they were only a football feild distance away from one another!

Yeah .. what a complete rip off .. I hope my friends burn the insurance company a new one!x( ... like you said .. you pay out the @$$ for "protection" .. and when something happens they either don't pay or they drop you ...

Insurance is one of the MAIN reasons we are selling the FL house... it is simply nothing short of ridiculous!!

OK ... I am getting off my soapbox .. LOL

Nancy my Aunt and first cousins live in Santa Monica, CA .. if you tour where the OJ Simpson's wife murder took place .. that is right down from my aunt .. look for the only yard w/an Alabama Pine tree in it! LOL

OK .. getting ready for lower body circuit .. now that my arms have recooped some!! LOL

I hear you, Laura. But get this.....we just stayed in New Jersey - right on the ocean. Beautiful houses all around us. They had had a hurricane come through in 1962 and wipe out the whole island (Long Beach Island). I asked the owner of the house (our brother-in-law) what he had to pay in insurance coverage. Want to know his answer? $268.00. That's right!!! $268.00. It's government subsidized - on a hundred year plan. A lot of houses (I guess in some areas) were promised a cheap insurance plan for some reason. (I guess to keep ocean front properties continuing to be developed). I remember John Stossel on 20/20 talking about his beach house in the Hamptons on Long Island (you know, the rich and famous) getting really cheap insurance too. He did a segment of this on his famous "Can you believe this" or something like that. What a rip!!!! The rich get richer.......................

Well, anyway, on to another rant. I did B & G Leg Blast Premix before. Can any of you really do that??? Oh my God!!!! I was dying. When it went back to the second segment of firewalkers I thought I would cry. If I can walk tomorrow, I want an investigation!! That's one tough Leg Blast. I don't know how much I'll reach for that torture.

Okay, hope someone reads this!!!! Have a great night!!!!

Nancy

Evening Ladies!

Dinner was tastey. DH chose to go to dinner at a place called "Big Ed's BBQ". They are famous for their all you can eat ribs. That, ofcourse is what DH had to eat. DS had mac-n-cheese and fries and I had a buffalo chicken fingers appetizer and a side salad for my meal. It was yummy. This place has "to die for" dinner rolls that they serve garlic bread style. They have a tremendous amount of butter in them...OMG they are delish beyond words!!!!}( :9 }( I did good though and didn't over eat like I usually do. Ordering the appetizers for a meal the way I did really did the trick...and I STILL brought home some left over chicken!

I got my DB's! I feel strong like wonder woman now!:p I didn't get my 1# plates though. They didn't have anything lower then 2.5#. I am pretty sure I have seen them sold at Modell's though so perhaps I will go there this week. :)

Cathy: You haven't done a half in 10 years did you say? Well I haven't done one in 35 years so :p ! That's no excuse!:7 The Philly half is expensive! Jeesh! It's gonna cost $75.00 to register by the beginning of September and $90 after that! The LOWEST price is $65.00 but you would have had to register by June some time! I am willing to fork it out if I am serious though. I don't intend to do more then 1 HM a year. One of the more local halfs to me costs a lot less though! I wonder why Philly charges so darned much!!?
If you are having good luck with Asics then you probably made the right choice. I had Ryka Enlight II's prior to this and was not crazy about them but I LOVE the Engage. Hey, does Mizuno even MAKE a crosstrainer? I may LOVE them even more if they do! }(

Nancy: Sorry to hear about your mom. (((HUGS))) Have fun on your Cali tour! Sounds like a busy trip but I'm sure it'll be great fun!:) In ref to the half marathon...don't give me TOO much credit just yet! I haven't signed up for it and do not intend to until I am SURE I gonna go through with it!:p I have until the beginning of September to make up my mind if I want to register at a discounted price still.

Oh and btw, I got my car back tonight! Yeay! Atleast a full day earlier then I thought! :)

Hi Ladies,

I know it's late but it's the only chance I've had to post. I am attending a training class this week so I don't have access to the internet. Anyway, tonight was bootcamp and I'm going to the bodystep class tomorrow at my instructors request. It is her last shot at the video.

The navel piercing didn't hurt too bad. It bothers me most during excercise. DH still hasn't seen it, although I don't really think he'll care. If anything, he'll probably make fun of me.

Wendy-I'm glad to hear your thinking about running a 1/2 marathon. I hope you like that distance as much as I do. Even better if Cathy wants to join you.

Cathy-I think it would be wonderful for you and Wendy to run a 1/2 together.

Laura-It sickens me to see the devastation left behind by Katrina. I've only seen it on the news, not up close and personal like you have. Why is it taking so long to everything cleaned up and the housed rebuilt? I hope the insurance companies are forced to pay.

Nancy-so the l&G premix kicked your booty...we'll that's what it's supposed to do}( Great Job sticking with it. So sorry to hear you mom is not at her best. Take Care.

Angie-Hi Ms. Angie-your probably the only one that will see my post tonigt;-)

Diana

Good evening ladies

Well, this is my second post.x( I hate when I press the wrong button on the computer and poof - all gone!}( }( }(

Seems like B&G was popular today. I did the premix at the end b/c it was 60 minutes, my favorite w/o length. Well, I don't really like the floor work and it went thru this section twice!:7 NO way!! So I skipped the second part, added on a bonus ab section, added in some of the standing leg portion, and stretched. By the time it was done I had a 90 min. w/o. LOL! Saved myself a lot of time there didn't I?:p

Wendy - Thank you so much for the PT info. The cost is actually better than I expected. I'm gonna have to check out that website maybe tomorrow when I have some time.
A half marathon? How do you train for that? How long of a race it that?
I need to get some new weights too. In Cathe's blog she was using a 62 # BB. Ya - I gotta get some more weights! I also need to get 30# but walmart is always sold out.;(

Cathy - Have you ever tried Saucony shoes? I got mine at Dunhams and I think you can peek at them on Dunhams.com if you don't have one close. They were only $35 on sale and they are really comfy, but I'm not a runner, so I don't know if they will work for you or not. Hope you can find something that will work.

Laura - Glad to see you made it back. You were missed.;) Sorry to hear that you didn't do so hot with the gambling, but it sounds like you have a lot of fun!
LOL! with the comment about me being in the south. I do kinda sound like Larry the Cable Guy huh? LOL! Yup, those plad shirts with cut off sleeves are sexy aren't they? I wonder what my life would have been like if I had girls instead?? Then it would be doubtful about the worm hunting I think. They would probably react like Nancy - LMAO!:7
I agree with you about the insurance companies. They don't bat an eye taking your money, but when something happens there are just so many reasons why they can't pay you or won't pay in a timely manner. I just want to yell at them and say - hey - I paid YOU in a timely manner every friggin month!}( Health insurance companies are no differnt IMO either. Those insurance companies got us by the $#@% don't they?
Anyways....glad to have you back.

Nancy - Just teasing you about the worms. You know you want to go and try it out.;-)
So sorry to hear that your mom is not doing well. (((hugs)))
B&G does make you want to call Cathe names doesn't it? Yeowch!

Diana - How did the belly button piercing go?

I know you all aren't gonna believe this but off to go worm hunting again. DS watered the lawn in hopes of having better luck than last time. Hmmmmmm....yup, we might be rednecks.:D But this kid will be fishing all, and I do mean ALL weekend long. The last time we went to the river we were super late getting out of there b/c we couldn't get him away from the river. He doesn't want to spend his allowance on worms.:( I guess I should start charging him for the training. Now there's a new carrer path I have not considered. Hmmmmmm

Catch ya all tomorrow

Angie
