Well, some of you probably know about my ongoing complaining of injuries. I hurt my right ankle way back in August and it still gives me some trouble (plus knee problems).

Well, today I slipped on the last stair and hurt my left ankle. It's hurting a lot and all swollen. I'm sitting here with my frozen peas on it and not sure what to do. I hope I don't end up in more physical therapy. x( x( x( x( x(

I hate being a klutz.

Oh man, this hurts worse than the first time. It's awful. I just walked in the other room and back and thought I was going to collapse. It started hurting so much more when I used it. Argh. I have laundry in the basement and there's no way I'll make it down those steep stairs and up again. And dinner to cook! And groceries to get tomorrow! OK, will stop freaking out. I don't know what it will feel like by tomorrow.

Hi Lainie -

Go get some acupuncture! Seriously. When I was just an intern, My sister sprained her ankle again (she played volleyball in highschool) I needled her, even though at the time, I was still studying and didn't quite know what to do. Her ankle was as swollen as a huge apple, she couldn't even move her toes. After having left the needles in for 20 minutes, she could at least move her toes. And within 1-2 days 90%-95% of the selling had gone down.

It's worth a try. Electro-Acupuncture can cut down the healing/recovery time by 50%. But go to a qualified and knowledgeable acupuncturist - ask for referrals if you can.

Good luck - Love, prayers, and healing! Edie

Lainie,

I'm so sorry to hear of your latest injury and pray that it will heal soon and without additional therapy. Remember the R.I.C.E. rule--rest, ice, compression and elevation.

You've certainly had more than your share of injuries in the past year.

Sending hugs and prayers your way.

Darlene

I am so sorry Lainie! I could join you with the injuries!! I do wish you knew my nephew though, he is a chiropractor and has often helped with my ankles after twisting them doing a trail run...I hope the ice helps and this injury heals quickly...sending healing vibes and {{{{HUGS}}}}

{{{{{{{{Lainie}}}}}}}} Im with everybody else...you NEED that bike. Im so sorry about your ankle:-( Im sending it healing vibes as i type!

Oh Lainie, I am so sorry to hear this! And I'm sorry that it's so painful. I'm a giant klutz too so I can relate, unfortunately. Please take it easy for a few days, keep icing it & elevating it whenver you can, & I hope it feels better soon. I also hope you don't end up in more physical therapy. Sending lots of big hugs to you too... (((Lainie)))

Thanks to everyone for your concern and advice. My ankle still hurts but not as badly as yesterday. I am able to hobble around on it but have no desire to do so more than absolutely necessary.

I went to the orthopedic surgeon today (skipped the primary physician and went straight to them since I've been there a couple times already) and got an X-ray. There is no break, at least, just a nasty sprain. I have to be careful with it and do the same home exercises they gave me after hurting the other ankle. At least they didn't send me back to physical therapy.

I am going to be very careful this time not to use it too much for the next week or so, since I didn't take very good care of my right ankle after hurting it. Today is definitely a rest day and tomorrow is supposed to be weights--probably just upper body.

Thanks again.

Hey Lainie-loo,
I'm glad to hear you're feeling a bit better and that it's not broken. I've been waiting to hear an update from ya! Take it easy and don't stress about the workouts. Do abs and upperbody when you can and focus on getting yourself healthy (and get some sleep, woman!!) :)

I'm thinking about ya!!
