OT: How much is gas in your area?

Hi,
Central Florida here (east coast) The cheapest I've seen is $1.62 but the more often seen price is $1.69 and I've seen as high as $1.72. BTW this is for 87 octane. I'm sure the station that I saw with $1.62 this morning will be up .04 or .05 by the time I drive home. I think the stations change their price every time they get a delivery. I was expecting an increase because of the labor day weekend. Hopefully it will go down in Sept.

Here in PA it has jumped 10cents in a day it seems. We are at $1.69 for 87 octane and $1.87 for the top stuff. Ugh!! We are leaving for the beach on Sunday and all our money will go to put gas in the truck. Does anybody know the reason for the increase in prices? All we have heard is higher demand. Hope it levels off or starts to go down soon!:(

Prices here in central Illinois are around $1.71. Someone at work said the refineries out east were down during the huge power outage. They said they should catch up with demand shortly. Don't know if thats why though. ....Sami

I think we are pretty lucky. My SIL who has family out in Phoenix said that gas is $4/gallon due to a gas line breaking. Please let me know if I have been misinformed on the area. I saw something about it on the news earlier this week.

Before the big gas price jump our gas was $1.38 for regular unleaded, now it fluctuates from $1.78 to today being $1.69.

It could be worse. We could pay as much as Arizona is right now or some of the countries overseas. They laugh at us already for complaining about the gas prices when they pay about twice as much.

According to the nightly news earlier this week, they said the price jump is due to the blackout, gas pipeline break in the west, war with Iraq, and one more factor. I can't remember what it is. It is the combined effect of all of these together not just one. At least that is how they explained it on the news. Everything that could go wrong went wrong this year even if it was just temporarily like the blackout. Personally I don't know how true this is, but I guess it makes sense.

Kristi,
A pipeline between Tucson and Phoenix broke a few weeks ago. Your sister is right. Some places were actually charging up to $5.00 a gallon for gas!! There's no price gouging law in AZ so a lot of vendors were really taking advantage of the consumers. Things have settled down a lot now. I'm not sure exactly what gas is right now. I don't drive, so I wait to hear the news from hubby!:p

In Minnesota it seems to range from $1.76 to $1.83. There may be places it's cheeper and more expensive, but where I live in the twin cities those are the ranges that I've seen.

$2.03 is the cheapest here in Southern CA at Arco, because they don't accept credit cards..everywhere else is $2.08-2.09 for regular.

You know gas is expensive when it costs $20 to fill up a VW Beetle! I was in shock! I knew I oughta quit whining about $1.89, though, when I heard that some of you are paying $5.00! Yikes! Looks like I'm going to be putting even MORE miles on my bicycle this summer.
