OT: Has anyone else seen Napolean Dynamite?

This movie is hilarious. Days later DH, son and I keep quoting the movie and laughing hysterically!

I highly recommend this movie! It will definitely make you laugh!!!

(It's out on DVD)
 
Thanks for sharing. My DS (15) just got this and I was dreading watching it. I thought it was going to be dumb. :)
 
Yes!!! Me & my husband rented & watched it two times. I love it. I'm going to have to buy it. We can't stop saying "Dang!" & "Geeth".
 
LOL! We are too. We watched it twice and want to buy it. I loved, loved, loved his dance at the end. I'm going to buy the soundtrack too.

We keep saying "GOSH!" :)

We love this one:

Boy on bus: "What are you going to do today Napolean?"

Napolean: "Whatever I want.....GOSH!!!!"

Napolean: "Grandma called. She wants you gone, because you're ruining everyone's lives and eating all our steak."

DH and I think this looks like a really goofy movie but people keep telling us to watch it. Why is it so good?
 
It's just one of those movies, where at first you can't believe you're watching it, and then you just start laughing! You find yourself the next day wanting to watch it again. It's just funny and silly and has a feel good/happy ending to it.

Kind of like rooting for the underdog! That's my take anyway.

Okay, we'll give it a try.

Funny thing is, we never heard of it and now the DVD is being released and seeing previews all over the T.V. We keep hearing how funny it is:)
 
I guess I didn't give it a chance. I rented it based on a recommendation from Blockbuster. I turned it off 20 minutes into it becuase it wasn't my cup of tea. Even the line "get your own tots" didn't even make me chuckle. Perhaps I was in the wrong frame of mine when I watched it (I saw Collateral w/ Tom Cruise just before popping in ND).

Oh! I saw Collateral too at the theater. Doesn't that whole movie take place at night? I thought it was good...I can see why you said you were in the wrong frame of mind. Totally different type of movie.

My 13 yr old daughter just watched it and thought it was dumb. I saw a few minutes of it and it didn't seem very good. Different strokes for different folks! Phyllis
 
Yes, you're right. My 9 yr old watched it and laughed so hard. He wanted to watch it again the next day. He loooooved it! :D

It's hard to judge it by just watching a few minutes.
 
Yes!! It's sweet!! LOL...My 14-year-old son loves this movie and kept telling us we had to see it...saw it and loved it too! We all like sort of offbeat movies in our family, though, LOL
 
I loved Napoleon Dynamite.. one of my faves of 2004! I loved the opening credits.. how they spelled everything out in cafeteria food.

If you liked Napoleon, you should go see "The Aquatic Adventures of Steve Zissou"..its the new one starriing Bill Murray. Same kind of quirky, offbeat humor with really eccentric characters. I thought it was really good.

Ok...OK....I guess I'll watch it. My 12 yo son won't shut up about this movie and I told him that if he tells me anymore of what happens in the movie I won't even need to watch it.

I love this movie!!! I've noticed that alot of people have said here that they didn't and I can see why. It is a movie meant for those who are truly goofy at heart. If you're a very serious person, you probably wouldn't be able to appreciate the "empty" humor in this film. If you're looking for something with a deep meaning, this probably isn't for you! The first 20-30 minutes I laughed so hard that my stomach hurt!!! Got it for xmas and have watched it twice already!!:7
