Both of these books have excellent ideas on helping you get organized. The first book has a card file system which I am going to incorporate when we move next month. The second book has daily and weekly routines and a control journal. They BOTH have some great ideas and help motivate you to get started on "De-Cluttering"! Bobbi, if you think you have a binder full of ideas already, just you wait! Ha! I am glad I bought both books.

Debbie H, that's where she's getting this all from already. The Fly Lady. Oh boy what have created?

What's bigger than a flylady? LOL. Don't forget to make your journals so you'll have place to put all your happy do things in and a place write out your days doings.

Just chekcing. Did you know about Fly-Lady before this *one thing at a time* thread?

Oh Bobbi, your ramblings are so entertaining! You paint such a clear picture that I can envision you buzzing around your house, landing hither and yon, muttering to yourself and flitting back to the computer to post of your buzzings.

I hope you have a great day with your kids, enjoy Robots and try to resist the Krispy Kremes;)

TytBody!

Not sure who you are asking the question, but I have known about Flylady.net for quite some time now. The Sidetracked Home Executive's book gave me MORE ideas so I just wanted to share that with everyone.

Couldn't avoid this thread, although I'm on my way to the pool!!!
Bobbi, I wouldn't worry too much about it, really. I do the flylady thing, well somewhat. I delete almost all the emails actually and try to find one 15 minute segment in my day to do some cleaning. Phyllis Diller (remember her???) once said "Cleaning your house while your children are growing is like shoveling the snow while it's still snowing" and although there are people like that, well, I turn a blind eye and do what I can. Did you mention how old your kids are? Mine are 18, 16, and 13 *(the 18yr old is away at college) and they have to do their own laundry and if they have friends over, they have to straighten the house. It helps! And yesterday when I wanted to just clean the kitchen I noticed the fridge was gross, so out came all the food and I cleaned that which kinda waster my time, but eventually it needed to get done, so it all evens out in the end.

Edited to add: I ignore the kids' bedrooms except to make sure they change their linens once a week and they have to clean their bathrooms.

I was asking if Bobbi had heard of fly lady before I mentioned it on this thread. Then she would know what to do with all her little piles of you know what.

And to Dallas and the previous poster, that must have been a good line because you both remembered it. Never heard that Phyllis Diller saying, but then again, I didn't listen to her much either. LOL:)

Ooooh Bobbi!

Eat a chocolate creme stick for me. (Not the kind with custard, the white creme!) :9

RE: Debbie H

Hi Tytbody,

I actually had gotten a book called "Little Bits of Wisdom", by Josie Bissett (I think she was on Melrose Place?) as a gift when I had one of the babies. There's little quotes in there and that one has always stayed with me....because I'm a perfectionist and want everything in it's place. However, once my darling children have come along nothing stays were it should be. My two year old thinks he can do a "Happy New Year" (NY we throw confetti up in the air, I guess he remembers) with just about everything (food, play doh, legos...boy those do hurt Bobbi when you step on one)!:) :) He's got to have the cutest little face. It is sooooo hard to get mad at him.

See, I can always go off on a tangent when I talk about my kids! But back to house (boring stuff) I just do the best I can, but still have to learn to let some things go.

MMMMM, Krispy Kreme I haven't had one of those in ages! Yum Yum. :9 Enjoy!

Have a great afternoon!

Dallas

Thank you, Debbie! I think! If I got rid of some books, I'd have more square footage. I found two more boxes in my closet I dinn't know I owned. I need a book case and a new house to fit it in!

TyTBody, I had read a thread about her and looked at the site but it didn't click then! At the dentist office, I told the tech who helped me. A Fly is born? :)
Shelley, those rotton rubber ducks offer you a "warm glazed original" while they are boxing you up! I had had breakfast so I held it while I payed for my dooughnuts and bought a water bottle to boot. Stashed those suckers in the trunk including the 13th one and did NOT have a Homer Moment, Mmmmmm, doughnuts.....

Did you hear that, Candi? :D

Lala, I have 14 and 16 year old girls and a 7 year old boy. I am afraid to go into my 16 year old's room. She had been threatening to clean it for as long as I can remember. It's wall to wall clothes, clean and dirty, dusty shelves and disarray that makes me look like a neat freak. The younger one can clean beautifully when it strikes her fancy but her's gets demolished, sometimes in the same day. She's capable of great organization. Sam is neat if you give him a good base. Since I gather all the stray clutter and pitch it into their room, I contribute the messiness. Sam, I help. I really have to get them to pick up their things but they know I nag while I gather but I do gather and they do as little as they possibly have to, opportunists that they are. That's up to me to change and I hope to cheerfully persuade them to help out! They have to keep their doors closed.

P.S. Shelley, I'm making up for lost time, those days of insomnia induced zombieism. It's no wonder zombies eat brains. They are the sleep deprived, incapable of planning and executing a meal plan, let alone cooking a meal. They probably think, on some subconscious level, that going for the brain is a good way to restore some cognitive reasoning and skills to their poor, cooked brain. I don't know why it's catching though and makes the victim a zombie? You'd think they just die!

And, hey, I found a dollar in the dryer!

We are off to robots and I can do 15 minutes in a zone and still have time for tea!

Bobbi,

Can't remember the last time I consumed a donut :D
Hmmmm, there's a Dunkin Donuts on the way home from work x( :+

You need to write a book, Bobbi. Your ramblings remind me of Erma Bombeck's writings. Well, I don't know, that would be just one more thing to do

Bobbi, if you have time for robots, 15 mins in your zone and tea, well, you are pretty organized!!!! And ditto for keeping doors shut!
And more dittos for you writing a book, or if you want to do "baby steps" a weekly newspaper article!!! there are a lot of us out there who can relate!;-)

That's an awesome suggestion. Newspaper articles. She does have enough to write in it and she loves it. What do you think? You better start thinking about a new career or an add on to your present.

Never know what can come out of brilliant minds. Larvae Live!!!:p

I AM, aren't I? Organized! Imagine that. And I scratched everything off my To Do List. Everything. Whoa! But this Fly baby could use a nap. I woke up at 3:00; that was as long as I could wear my night splint, torture device that it is. Got up at 5:00. This place belongs only to me and the cats at that hour. But I am quietly working on my laundry and I am going to sweep my floors and that's it for today. I am ignoring all the stuff that usually jumps at me. Between baby steps and energy surges, I'll get those done when the time is right.

Robots, by the way, was adorable and hilarious. I love Robin Williams.

You know, someday I might very well write a book. That's a very wonderful compliment! I wanted to be a Famous Author when I was young and couldn't get my nose out of books. I wrote some pretty cheesy poetry that makes my 42 year old self wonder what the heck my teenage self was thinking. All that romance and idealism, I know I wasn't cleaning any toilets then! :D
