Hello Friends of the Forum.

Just out of curiosity, what are your old school fitness videos in your collection? Please feel free to name instructor, title, type, and if it did or still does any good to increase/maintain your fitness levels. Thanks.

I have a "walk away the pounds" and a few old school firms. I never use them anymore. Does anyone know what Cathe's first release was? I was curious if it's still available. I'd love to do a comparison.

The Firm. I'll never forget Susan Harris in Volume 1. That's all they had when I started with them after the birth of my second son in 1986. As they issued new volumes, I bought them. I stopped at Tortoise and Hare because they had sold out and the intensity seemed to wane. Honestly cannot remember how I found out about Cathe or why I tried the first one I bought. I think the first ones I got were MIS and MIC. Whoa. I still use my Firm step up boxes (10" and 14" are the only steps I own). Great thread. What about others?

The first exercise video I bought was Firm Volume 1 with Susan Harris in 1986. I can't part with it, that is the video that started it all for me. I purchased, oh, just about every Firm produced until I discovered Cathe. I read a review about MIC & MIS in Shape magazine in 1998 or 1999 and have been hooked ever since. I just remebered I have the Cher step video with Keli Roberts. Anyone have that one? Cher exercises in one of her costumes. Very funny, I use to love doing that workout. LOL

I've cleaned out my collection over the years but I've had Jane Fonda, Kathy Smith, Richard Simmons, Tammy Lee Webb vids from the Abs of Steel days, Leslie Sansone WATP, The Firm old and new and BB's Great Body Garunteed series...just to name a few. I've been exercising on and off since I was a teenager so I've had many different vids through the years. :)

As of today I really only own Cathe, Jari Love, Slim Series, Rebounder work outs,P90X and just a few odds and ends I've picked up here and there.

I've either tossed or sold everything else...

Hey, Wenders! I was an "Abs of Steel" girl, too! As a matter of fact, I still have the "Buns of Steel" series, lol! I also have an old Firm, I think one of the Cross Trainers. You've got to love that library set and all of the mannequins going, "Oooooh" "Aaaaaah" "That feels SO good!" LOL!

Most of my oldies are the Firm. My very first Firm video was "Tough Aerobic Mix" It used to kill me when I first bought it and it collected dust for a number of years. Now that I've been doing Cathe for a number of years, I do it on days when I want a lighter workout because it is not as challenging. I also have the Firm Volume 1 (Susan Harris) and the Firm Volume 6 (Jayne Poteet)which I bought because I loved their segments so much in the Tough Aerobic mix tape. I made the mistake of buying one of the newer Firm tapes (Cardio Sculpt) and went back to my old Firm standby's because it was too easy...Thanks Cathe :). I also have the original Buns of Steel with the bearded guy, (Greg Smithey) and its a killer lower body workout. I have the second Buns of Steel with Tamilee and I have Gilad's Sculpt and Tone workout which is circa 1995. All three of these are collecting dust now since I mainly work my classic Firm videos in with my Cathe.

Hi:

I still have a couple Jane Fonda ones, but haven't done 'em for years.

Also, Gin Miller's Original Reebok Step video... that was pretty cutting edge back in the day. It has a fairly elaborate techno set and the production quality is very good. The workout itself is pretty basic, but I really enjoyed it.

Take care, Lynn M.

Not a video, but I used to have a Joannie Greggins 33 album with flash cards showing each move. I thought it was great. I can still hear her voice. I also would do Body Electric and Morning Stretch. Woah! Does that make me old!!

I was a Gin Miller girl and had some Kathy Smith too. I was sure glad when I found Cathe! :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Callanetics.
Man, oh man is that outdated! Their hair, clothes and the music, but there is no denying -it IS effective. I read they are doing a remake of it and it's coming out in January.
I've used that workout to snap my body back into shape after the birth of both my sons. It's deep deep muscle conditioning.

I have all the old Firms. I think I did those most consistently prior to Cathe, but I used all kinds of videos, most of which have already been mentioned. How about the Freedanse workouts? There were 2, the second one I still have. Lots of Lycra, but fun dancy moves, thats for sure!

I have some Tamilee Webb videos, Buns of Steel and some newer ones from her I Want that Body series. Sometimes I still do "I Want Those Buns" it's a pretty good lower body workout. Also she has a video called Cardio Blast that isn't too bad. I probably did that one about a year ago. I also have an old kickboxing video called Kick Butt,(not Tamilee Webb) it's so different compared to Cathe, it's just not professional like hers, but it's not too bad of a workout, it's kind of fun.

What a great question. It was fun to read everyones responses. I have nearly all of the Firm up to the current ones they just came out with. I found that I wasnt being challenged enough so I started exploring new videos Jen Miller and then Cathe. Now I have about 15 of Cathe's videos and I love them.

This one is on my calendar to do tomorrow! I haven't done it in probably a year and wanted to see how easy it was after about a year of Cathe!!
:D

Just this morning I did Gilad's 45-minute toning workout. The buns and thighs were definitely burning! I love his Fat Burning workout and his Step Aerobics also -- the Hawaiian beach is just wonderful. And possibly the most fun workout I have (though not the most intense) is his Jerusalem workout. The camel, the bellydancer -- Gilad's just a treasure.

I still have my Sweatin to the Oldies stuff with Richard Simmons. Yes, it's way too easy now, but Richard is the one who taught me that exercise is fun! For that much alone, I will always rise up and call him blessed.

Donna Richardson's DonnaMite -- my first "intermediate" workout. I wish she would release it on DVD!

I used to LOVE my Karen Voight videos. She was my Cathe. I loved the interval step workout she had. I cannot even remember the name of it right now. It was great! I also loved Gin Millers power step workout. I had Candace Copeland and all of the firms. I had a great one my Kelli roberts that had tubing and step. Oh, I know the name of the Karen Voight one, it was called Energy Sprint. Anyway, I still have most of those still.
