OK, I'm giving up

Laura, I know exactly how you feel ! I only ever buy Cathe (with the exception of Christi Taylor and Ellen Barrett, for the Pilates)....her professionalism, cueing, music, fun and inspiring workouts cannot be beaten.

I was soooo tempted by Amy Bentos, but I'm glad I didn't get swayed, because I have more money left to purchase new Cathe dvds, and replace my old Cathe vhs !

Laura,

I can totally relate to your situation, although I'm now spoiled by the X - nothing comes close, in my opinion, even Cathe. I'll use other things like Cathe for occasional crosstraining to mix things up a bit, but only as a short break from the real deal.

It's SO hard when you find your personal fitness "fit" - NOTHING else compares, and you are just totally ruined for anything else!

Don't give up, get creative! When I have a day that I am very board and not motivated ( I always exercise inside) the answer is easy. Start thinking outside of the box. I think back to some of my favorite parts of cathe's workouts and make my own mix of cardio, strength, and ab combo's for something different. A big part of my sucess with this is Cathe's voice playing in my head-"Are you feeling it? Lets do a bonus round! 4,3,2,and you did it!" It is her awsome workouts but my favorite picks. I promise you will have a new found respect for her brain power that goes into the workouts as well as her muscle power. It is a huge challange to cordinate instead of follow. If it doesn't do it for you then at the very least your regular videos will probally seem more interesting.;-) Keep flexing!

LauraMax,

Can't get any better than Cathe. Her workouts and premixis makes it endless, don't you think?

There's one that compares to Cathe and that's Coach Troy (spinervals). Brenda must agree, since she's in some of them! Nobody motivates me like Cathe and Coach Troy. Sometimes when I just don't want to w/o, I just turn on one of them and watch for a few minutes and I am up in no time! Marnie:)

Yes Janie, I totally agree! Especially if by "makes it endless" you mean it seems like a 45 minute workout lasts for 3 hours......

But really, Cathe is just the best. I would agree that the P90X workouts are good, but since my home workouts are primarily cardio most of their stuff isn't for me, & while I find their cardio workouts good, I don't find them great like Cathe's.

I tried Plyo X on Monday & thought it was decent. The only thing I didn't like were the breaks betw. the intervals. They weren't "active recovery" like Cathe's breaks, they were just the crew standing around drinking water & wiping sweat off their faces. So while I didn't feel like I was wasting my time, I did feel like it could've been better, & I plan to modify it on my own next time.

I tried Kenpo X on Sunday & really liked it, but not as a cardio workout--it was very similar to the martial arts classes I used to take & it was a lot of fun--good for my core day.

I have Cardio X too but haven't tried it yet. Anyone have any opinions to share?

CardioX is REALLY easy - it's mainly for doing a doubles rotation, so it's lower intensity. You won't find it challenging at all, Laura. It's not even a part of the Classic X rotation.

Laura,

Why don't you try the cardio machines at the gym? Does your gym offer spin classes? They are an excellent form of cardio! }(

HTH!:)

Edited to Add: I did not read any prior posts so I apologize if I am repeating what was already mentioned!:)

Oh yes Wendy, I use them all the time, but on weekends only (I do cardio mornings only, no way can I add that extra 30 minutes of traveling to my morning schedule!).

And summer's different too b/c I have the beach house, so I try not to go to the gym on the w/e since it costs me more money.

But now that summer's winding down I'll be back to my old schedule & will return to my beloved arc trainer & recumbent bike. Oh & my new gym has the Stairmaster--yippee!!!!! I don't know why those things went out of style all of a sudden, they give a great low impact, high intensity workout.

I'd be hard pressed to get the gym before work too...I don't blame you!;)

No chance of adding gym cardio to your evening routine? I guess you probably spend enough time there doing your weight work that you probably don't want to do that either! Understood! :)

You got it chicky! Cardio in the morning, weights at night. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but cardio seems to use much more of my energy than weights & I'm just too darned tired at the end of my workday to even attempt it. Also cardio is a chore for me whereas lifting is fun, so it's not as tough for me to motivate myself for weight training at night (except, of course, the dreaded leg workout).

Have you acquired all of Cathe's cardio workouts? Maybe there are some you overlooked. I thought I had read in a previous post that you don't have BodyMax. If that's true there's one you can try. The cardio on that workout is pretty intense IMHO.:)

Jacque

Wendy, your input is always valued! :)

Jacque, you're right, I don't have Body Max but I don't think it's available anymore? If I'm wrong someone please correct me, but I searched this site & searched ebay & found nothing. So if you know where I can get it, or if someone wants to get rid of say, a VHS b/c they switched to DVD, please let me know!

On the up side, I will be getting Powerstrike I & II, so that's something to look forward to. :p

Hmmmm no I'd rather have the DVD b/c I assume there's a premix with the cardio only?

I guess Power Hour is pure strenght training? I know MIS is b/c it's the only Cathe strength training VHS I have.....oh the good old days of living in a house with a little bit of room.......

I'd hate to spend $$ for 3 workouts when I'm only looking for one, but I might just have to break down & just do it.

Yes, power hour is endurance-no cardio.

There are no premixes but you can certainly use the chapter option to get just the cardio in Bodymax.

C'mon, you know you want to!:p

Oh see, that's just not gonna work for me. I need at least 40 minutes of straight cardio. I just don't see myself doing 5 minutes of cardio, ffing through muscle training, 5 more minutes of cardio, more ffing.......

But I do appreciate you ladies trying to help--hopefully Body Max 2 will have an all-cardio premix, b/c I pre-ordered it.
