Oh oh oh. Have to do it. ahem. Britney.

K, because I'm tired of Kirstie Alley now, hehe. Plus we need some different mindless entertainment up in here ;)

So, ummm, does she get enough press coverage on this? Oy. I think they are soon going to track the post breakup progress by 30 second increments. I want to know every food morsel she consumes and exactly what spot she is standing on when she does it.

So come on, who's surprised? Who could not care less and would love to tell me where to stick this post? HAHA.

Personally, I think her image went down the tubes with that yahoo. Hopefully she can reinvent herself a bit. Who knows. I'm sure history is happening as I type this ;)

I feel the same way about the press coverage. I guess it is a slow week for news because it has been on everything. I do think it's good that she lost him though! Ok I admit it. I read perezhilton.com every morning to get a dose of gossip.! BUT, I don't buy any of the magazines! It's just a guilty pleasure of mine while drinking my morning coffee. Hey! Maybe she will be the new Madonna when she gets it all together!

No news? I think this was announced on Tuesday, the day of the elections and major changes in US Politics! There was plenty of news. I remember hearing it while watching the election results thinking, "WTF? How did Brittany's divorce become headline news?" It's scary that girl who does not come across as being the sharpest tool in the shed has more influence and power than many of the people who are really making a difference in people's lives (scientists, doctors...).

LD: A slow week for news?????????????? It was a major election week.
I saw someone in the subway on Wednesday, the day after the elections, reading the New York Post and the cover had a giant pic of Britney with a smaller box relating to the election results! I had to do a double take to make sure my eyes were not deceiving me.

What's really scary is that, somehow we know more about these people than we ever wanted to. I think we absorb it through osmosis or something.

One day a guy in my office mentioned that Christina Agulara (sp?) refuses to have her carry-out put in styrofoam packaging for environmental reasons. We all looked at him, and, with a very befuddled expression he said, "I have no idea in hell how I know that."

:) :)

LD, I was just trying to make the point that, even if it had been a slow news week, the extent of the coverage of Britney would have been bizarre, but there was a SEA CHANGE in our government on Wednesday, our President had become a lame duck by Thursday, and somehow the press still finds the time and cover space for a Britney Blitz. (I have a tendency towards the dramatic, but doesn't this remind you of how it was right before the fall of the Roman empire?)

Nancy, not dramatic at all, IMO. I've used the fall of the Roman empire comparison myself. I watched a program not that long ago wherein several young women (20s) were asked to name the VP of the US and they couldn't. Yet they all knew who Brittany was married to.

Brittany is headline news because more people care about what happens to her than what happens in the real world. Most people don't read newspapers and could care less what happened as a result of the elections. Very sad!

I must admit I found the Kirstie story rather refreshing and fun - a middle aged babe celebrating her success, and I was happy for her.

I cannot believe K-Fed or Fed-Ex :) is trying to get sole custody. No judge in the world would give him custody IMHO. :)

I agree, it really is sad.

The difference is, the Kirstie story was just a little blurb of fluff news...it wasn't a major headline on every major network! I wouldn't mind the Britney, Tom Cruise, Brangelina, etc. drivel if it was stuck back in the entertainment section or just in People magazine. Putting it out there as "real news" is just asinine.

Huh, I was going to join in on this thread, but it seems to have turned political. WT??
Ah, what the heck, I'm changing it back to what it was supposed to be about. (to the tune of JT's "Sexy Back") I'm bringing Britney back! LOL!
I honestly don't think she had any intention of staying married to Kfed, just my thoughts. I think she used him to be the "young mother" that she wanted to be, and due it at least while she was married. Kevin was the only man that was stupid enough to fall for it.
JMHO!

Now, back to politics....LOL!

Kathy

I'm not arguing that there wasn't enough in the news, btw. It's just Britney's divorce seemed, for some odd reason, to be the biggest. *sqeek* It wasn't the most important though.

He has to have access to her money and will if he gets the kids - we all know he'll never make as much as she does on his own, although her big earning days may be behind her.

Apparently she's still a popular girl as someone in Vegas has offered her a gazillion dollars to do shows out there. They think she could compete with Celine Dion. WTF??? Who would see her??????I'm not a fan of either one, but I respect Celine. Britney is just trash!

Now, back to reality.
