Has anyone used a non-toxic hair color? I have been reading up on them lately and am just so confused...and scared! I have brown curly hair that can be dry/fuzzy. I color only to cover greys. I use do it yourself coloring because it is easy and it is what I am used to. However, I would like to try something without toxic chemicals. Here is what I have researched (but have not tried):
*Henna
*Hnectar
*Radico Colour me organic
*HairPrint
*Modena
*Naturtint
*Aveda
I am most interested in Henna, but most scared of Henna. It seems complicated and not fool-proof. I keep reading if your color turns too orange, do X and if your color turns too yellow, do Y, etc. I don't want to deal with trying to become a chemist and fix my hair color if something goes wrong. I am also finding that the instructions assume you know how to do the process, rather than assuming it is your first time. (i.e. how do I know if I need Indigo? What is Indigo? How do I know how much of each item to use? I don't want to guess on hair color! etc).
I looked into the other items, but a lot of complaints is that they don't cover greys, but rather just tint them lightly. The only reason I color my hair is to cover the greys - not to highlight them. Another complaint seems to be the color doesn't last very long at all. I realize that by not using chemicals, the product may not last as long, but don't feel like going through the process only to have it wash out within the week.
Any experience, pros or cons, with non-toxic hair color? Thanks!
