Hi All! I wanted to post a link to let you know about the NYT article yesterday but wasn't at my computer all day. So I was happy to see that you all found it without me. I can't read what everyone wrote right now so forgive me if I repeat myself here......

Just wanted to let you know that I was interviewed along with other instructors for the article as you now know. In addition, a couple of road trip attendees were interviewed via phone or email about the topic/article. Numerous pictures were sent, all of which (at their request)pertained to pictures of me interacting with all of you.

I had no idea what to expect in the end other than I assumed it would be based on the questions I was asked. I smiled when I finally saw the pic's they used because it brought back such a fun memory of us all getting ready to have our group shot taken when suddenly Kathy S asked where I got those shoes. So Kathy S, Debbie H, Heather B, and me talked about the comfort and fit of these shoes plus other shoes that each of us enjoyed too. It brought back such warm fuzzy feelings of the roadtrip when I saw that picture.

I hope you enjoyed the article. It was really narrowed down from the huge scope of questions I was asked. So many other things were discussed that never even went to print. But that's always the way it goes....get way more than what you need and shave down as necessary.

Happy weekend everyone. I will stop in and visit at some point :)

That is an AWESOME article!! I felt like was reading about my family members! (I am!!) Thanks for sharing.

4-Day Split Shoes!!!!

Kathy:

I love Nike Shox Rhythmic studio training shoes for dancy step workouts like Rhythmic Step and the step segments of HIS and LIS. :7 They are similar to Cathe’s shoes but cushier with a little more lateral support. I love, love, love Nike Shox!!! :7 They “hug” my narrow feet better than any other brand. The Rhythmics have smooth bottoms and pivot points that free me to pivot, spin, and twirl on the step and on carpet with ease and without putting stress on my knees. I believe these are being phased out as they are no longer available in Nike’s online store, but the Lady Foot Locker in my area still carries them. These are my favorite workout shoes of all time, and I will be sad when they are no longer available. I flirted with other brands this year in search of a less expensive option. My feet were crying and have been thanking me since I returned to Nike. Thankfully, I have 3 pairs of these in my personal stash!

Nike Shox Turn and Go cross training shoes are my kickboxing shoes of choice. They are good for more athletic workouts but do not work well with dancy choreography, pivots, spins, and turns. This style has been discontinued as well. I just started wearing my last pair of these last month, so I will need to find a replacement after the holidays.

Nike Air Wave cross training shoes with soft and flexible bottoms are my favorite shoes for lower body workouts with lunges. They have a little extra wiggle room in the toe box too without being too roomy. They are no longer available either.

Ryka Intensity XT cross training shoes are the ones I wore during the Road Trip. They have plenty of forefoot cushioning, good lateral support, and relatively smooth bottoms. They are a good all-purpose workout shoe for a weekend like the Road Trip when I cannot fit all my shoes in my suitcase! At home, they are my Boot Camp shoes of choice. They are nice and cushy for all the hopping around like a bunny rabbit! They are a little too roomy in the toe box, so I wear Thorlo socks.

Lady Foot Locker usually has a good selection of Nike Shox. I suggest trying the Rhythmics, Ballos, and O-Drives (in that order) if you can find them. Nike has a few new styles that I am interested in trying too, but I am good for now. ;-)

P.S. I have a bad abs days every day. ;-) That black top was hiding a lot. LOL! I am so glad I wore black that morning. Some of the tops I wore that weekend were not as flattering to say the least.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Great article, it is in my collection of workout articles in my notebook. Keep up the great work! And workouts!

Beloved Road Trip Memories!!!!

Cathe:

I smiled when I first saw this picture in Cyndi’s PictureTrail after the Road Trip. :) It does indeed bring back warm fuzzy memories of our time together during the Road Trip. :) I personally would have picked your biceps pose, but I love this picture too. ;-) It makes my heart smile when I remember being wrapped in love that weekend. I will cherish those memories forever. :) This has been a pivotal year for me in so many ways.

I talked to one of my Road Trip sisters on the phone yesterday, and she is loving this. She remembers how insecure I was about attending the Road Trip knowing that my picture would be posted. Now it is in the New York Times! :7 I will remember 2007 as the year of being kicked out of my comfort zone for good! :7

I hope you are enjoying the weekend. Happy Thanksgiving! :*

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: 4-Day Split Shoes!!!!

Kathy, let me know where you find the Rhythmics...I would love to be able to pivot on my carpet! And since you live so close to me, whither thou goest I will go! LOL!

Dancy Nike Shox!!!!

Kathy and Jodi:

The fact that I am posting a picture of my beloved Rhythmics is a good indication that I need a shoe intervention, but I want you to see what you are looking for! :7 The key to pivoting on carpet is finding Nike Shox with pivot points. There are several styles available. I prefer the Rhythmics because they are cushier with better support, but that would not be a big issue for someone who is not overweight. Cathe’s Road Trip shoes are lighter, but I need the heavier Rhythmics to support my weight. ;-) Look for these “figure 8s” on the bottoms (or a circular pattern on the newer styles) and select the pair that feels best on your feet:

Happy shoe shopping! :)

RE: Beloved Road Trip Memories!!!!

Thanks, Heather, for the link! What great memories. I sure wish the look on my face in the picture reflected how happy I was to be there. I look a little glum! x( Actually, I think I was freezing at that point, since we hadn't worked out.

How cool, too, that I'm "in the article." Not mentioned by name, of course, but, obviously, I'm the one from Uganda. :) How fun.

Thanks, thanks, thanks again, Heather.

Belinda!

Thank you, Belinda! I count it an honor to be featured along side of Cathe and the rest of the WHOLE group not pictured. It was so nice to see you & Alesia. I miss everyone so much. Hopefully, we can all meet again soon.
