New Weight Watchers Program

Oooh, thanks Elaine and Lisa! That does help. I was hoping to be able to actually log on to WW with the phone and just update as I go rather than trying to keep track and then have to do all the updating at the end of the day.

The points calculator would be very helpful in playing around with ideas. Like today I'm considering if I can "afford" a tuna melt for dinner, LOL!

Still on the fence about the smartphone. I think it would make my very complicated life a little easier and reduce the reliance on little slips of paper and my great big datebook. But, it is a lot of $$ for the phone itself and the data plan. DH is willing, and sweet and wonderful he is, but....I'm still trying to think of how I can offset the cost.

I forgot to mention that with the app you can connect to the mobile website, add you food and activity and it will update everything for you. So then if you go online using your computer, you will see what you added from your phone. It also works the same if you track your food and activity online from your computer; so when you use the app to go to the mobile site you will see what you tracked online directly. :D Like I said, very handy!

The official WW app for the Droid right now is limited. As Lisa said, it's a Points calculator, which is very very handy, and a shortcut to the WW mobile site where you can directly enter your Points into your eTools account. Apparently the full app for the iPhone is much more impressive, from what I've read. However, WW has promised a full-blown app for Droid "in the spring."

I have the handheld calculator sold at the WW meetings. They were discounted up until last week, and this week are up to their full price. Full price for most states is $10, but in Arizona it's $16 since it's a franchise rather than a corporate state and everything costs more. Our discounted price was $10 and I think it was a waste of money. The calculator is very cheaply made and the buttons are difficult to make work. I never use it, but stick to the app on my Droid. However, for people who do not have a smartphone I would consider the calculator an essential.

ETA: I forgot to mention that there is also a free app called Calorie Counter that has the NI for many restaurants. It's very handy to be able to go between that and WW PointsPlus calculator app to help make decisions about what to eat. And, of course, with a smartphone, you can always go directly to the restaurant's website to look for the NI there.

Lisa: Ah, yes, that IS the functionality I was looking for.

Nancy: Somehow I KNEW you'd have the answer! :D You've become my techno guru.

Still very much in the air about the phone - especially since DH spent the day tallying up the damage from Xmas! :(

:D I do like gadgets, I admit, but I only know how to use them -- not at all how they work. Like a car -- all I want to know is that it will go when I press the gas:p

It was a big step for me to jump to the smartphone, too. It will be a year this month and I love it. But, if I was not now retired, I'm not sure whether it would have replaced my Franklin Covey daytimer, to tell you the truth. I kept a whole lotta notes on various projects in my daytimer and I don't see how my phone would have replaced that orderly file system and convenience.

Nancy, we must be on the same wavelength on these topics! DH is an engineer and is often trying to explain HOW things work. All those details and I honestly can't follow it. I want "what are the steps I need to take in order for this thing to work". Nothing more!

I have a datebook that I lug around and it has all the appointments and some notes but I've inherited the small.slips.of.paper habit from my Dad. And those little slips get lost. Or they become clutter.

Now, I know that you can accumulate eClutter like anything else....but it just seems like it would be a bit easier to manage.

Just like these WW features/functions/apps. Right now WW is completely electronic for me. And I love that! But I was calculating the points for my lovely tuna melt (16!)...on a little slip of paper. Would have been so much easier to calculate it on an app and have it track right into my plan. Fewer steps.

Anyway, sorry to ramble. Thanks again! :)
