New to the boards

Hi everyone!! I just discovered Cathe while watching FITv and I am soooo hooked. I have been splurging and buying the DVDs. It is so addicting. I just love Cathe and her teaching style. I am also addicted to THE FIRM workouts and Cathe goes great with them.

I was wondering if there was a place for newbies to go and introduce themselves to the veterans and get advice on the workouts? I lost 34 pounds last year with getting back to healthy eating and working out. I am looking to loose 5-10 more pounds. I am 36 with 2 children 9 and 6 that I am homeschooling. My hubby and I have been married for 13 years and we live in norhtern VA.

I am enjoying reading all the posts on the boards.

Thanks for your help. Is there a check in group for new Cathe addicts? I find it helpful to join a group and talk with others about fitness.

How nice to get such a quick response. I currently do 6 days then rest. I sculpt then Cardio then Cardio/sculpt then cardio then cardio/sculpt then finish the week with cardio again. I am currently following a rotation on the FIRM boards. I only have a few workouts by Cathe. But, I am working on that! HAHA

Welcome! You're in exactly the right place to get advice. There are all sorts of check-ins on the Check-ins and Challenges forum. Feel free to join whichever one you think suits you best! Most people post questions here on Open Discussion, unless they're questions about a specific workout, then they get posted on the Video and DVD forum.
 
Welcome Kathy...:)...Way to go on the weight loss!! I am 47 no kids, married for 25 years and live in Northen Cal. I agree with Shelley and maybe check out the Check-ins as there are some great groups there. Any the Open forum is great for questions...:)
 
Welcome to the forum. I live in Southern Maryland, married for 12 years, age 38 and 2 kids ages 8 and 4. I started out using the firm also several years ago, but then discovered Cathe. You will definitely enjoy Cathe's workouts. Congratulations on your weightloss and good luck with your healthy life style.

Wow - way to go on the weight loss! I wouldn't consider myself a Cathe veteran since I've only been working out with her for 6 months, but I am a video workout veteran (13 years!) I am 33 and have only stepped foot inside a gym about 1/2 dozen times. I love working out at home (sometimes running outside) and Cathe is my favorite. You have definitely come to the right place for advice, tips, and just plain old entertainment. Everyone around here is very wonderful and supportive (and impressive!) and we welcome you to our little world. Keep up the good work.

Just kidding, Kathy!!! Honestly, welcome aboard! I am also relatively new to the boards and Cathe as well. I "discovered" her by accident last January with Low Max and thought I was going to die!!!
I found the boards the end of June and have been posting like mad ever since. I have to check in at least 3-4 times/day!!! (just look at the post number, and that's only 6 wks!). Anyway, it's a great group here and unlike you, I just jumped in feet first into the conversations!

Oh, just a warning.....be prepared to have a shockingly large amount of money just "disappear" when all the Cathe tapes start showing up on the doorstep!!!LOL!:p }(
 
Hi Kathy and welcome. Don't let Shelley and Amy scare you. The initiation on hurts for a little while. Sort of like DOMS. Congratulations on your fitness gains. I hope you find this forum as informative and entertaining as I do.

I also discovered Cathe on FitTV also. My first workout was Imax2 and I was hooked. I went out and bought a step and have been in love ever since. I tried the firm but found it boring.;-) :)

I am 35, married Nov will be 2 yrs. We live in upstate NY and I have an 8 yr old stepdaughter who is a little athlete. She does gymnastics and the whole family golfs. She wathces me workout to Cathe and likes to play on my stability ball.

Buying dvds is addictive. I have 3 and still tape fittv.

Welecome to Cathe. There are alot of ladies here with wonderful advice. Surf around. Check out the checkins and the rotation.

I love it!!! Thanks for all the warm welcomes.. You ladies are so funny and interesting already. I can see I am going to love it over here. I made some really great friends over on the FIRM boards and look forward to chatting with you ladies over here. It sounds like a family over here!!

I still love my FIRM but I can see that Cathe will give them a run for my money. My first workout was Rhythmic Step and I thought oh my gosh I love this when I was done. I was sooooo hooked and started getting up every morning to check out Cathe on FITv and I recorded them to do later too. I haven't tried any sculpting workouts yet. I have only done Cardio. You will find that I adore Cardio and add it alot.

Can anyone suggest a checkin over on the checkin board that would be ideal for me? I love Cardio so I don't think I want to do the "I hate Cardio" thread. HAHA

Oh yeah, Have I passed the initiation yet? HAHA
 
Hey Amy! I know what you mean about the money disappearing. I am trying to buy in small quantities so as not to alarm hubby. I have the whole FIRM collection and he doesn't understand the obsession. I told him it is all about variety!!
 
It is the biceps exercises in Muscle Endurance that will help with the initiation... }(

The Daily Check-in is a good group and not specific to any type of workouts or rotations and I know they would be happy to have you join them...:)..(That check-in hasn't been started today yet), but soon someone will start it...
