New to Cathe

I have been using hardcore gym for triceps and chest so far I love it!! I am pre-ordering xtrain but need some suggestions for a good cardio workout that is low impact but not to hard, not to easy. I have lost 127 pounds so far and still need to lose 100 more. I go to the gym and use the elliptical and Arc. At home I use Leslie sansungs walk blaster step and some of her other walk workouts, but these have become both easy and boring. I also have a begginer/ intermediate step aerobic DVD to go with the club step, that I have modified using the slanted risers. Any help as to what Cathe cardio to start with would be welcome. Oh, I have the other two hardcore gym series on the way(legs and back/biceps).

Low impact ciircuit. And low impact step with her in red.
Kick punch crunch.. and then lowmax is good to. If. You llikee sfep lol. Kpc one isn't step though it is a fun Kickboxing one. I love love lowmax and loow impact circuit because of the music in addition to just plain fun.

Congrats on the weight loss! What an accomplishment! My suggestions would be:

Any of the weight training workouts. Don't forget the weight training!

Any of the Low Impact Series-- all low impact and easily modified if you need to. Every single one of those is fabulous! I am partial to Afterburn, Athletic Training, Turbo Barre and Total Body Trisets.

Kick, Punch and Crunch-- cardio kickboxing that is SO FUN. And I hate kickboxing, so that's saying something. Sweat is flying all over the room with this one.

Low Impact Circuit-- hands down, my favorite circuit workout of Cathe's. Super fun and awesome music.

Low Max-- killer low impact all step workout.

Cardio and Weights from Intensity Series-- oldie but goodie, some moderate impact but easily modified

Bootcamp from Intensity Series-- some higher impact moves, but easily modified.

Welcome to Cathe and congratulations!

I agree with all of Natalie's suggestions and Renee's. Those are great workouts.

Low Impact Circuit is one of my all time favorites too - the music is fantastic!

I'd also suggest the 4 Day Split series. It's advanced in some ways but modifiable - start with weights that work for you and work your way up. Each workout has a cardio and a weight segment so if you do them in order you've worked your whole body in 4 days. And worked it good! :D

It's full of terrific premixes. This is one of the great benefits of Cathe. Make major use of premixes to suit your mood and how you feel that day.

Good Luck!

Definitely KPC and Crossfire!
Both Drillmax and LIC are circuit workouts which have good fun cardio premixes that are under an hour.

If you are interested in circuit workouts too, get AT from the LISeries and HSC from the Hardcore Series.
(Look at the lists of equipment used for all these DVDs to see what will work best for you.)

If you like complicated choreography Low Max is a great choice. Do a search here and you will read many threads on the choreography . If you aren't sure, I'd start with LIC because it is easier to learn the steps.

It sounds like your choice of the XTrain Series will be a good one to get you into weights. While you wait for that to come out, if you need more variety than just the GS you may want to do weights at the gym, or buy one of Cathe's other weight workouts. I think MM is great! Also Muscle Endurance is excellent and has Bootcamp on the same DVD. (One thing about the weight training DvDs is they are advanced, so while she gives excellent instruction, they are not for beginners. If you are already going to a gym you could start with basic weight training instruction on form etc there first if you have not done weight training before.)

Congrats on your success ! I think Cathe will surely help you from getting bored. She does a great job keeping us all motivated-she really is gifted at what she does! Her workout have become my regular birthday presents since they are such a treat !

That is me to I never liked Kickboxing workouts! But I tried KPC and sure enough it was love! My heartrate according to hrm was where it needed to be yet it didn't FEEL like it. By the end I burned almost 500 calories. It went fast I couldn't believe I burned that much. That was y I never liked kb because I thought it was a waste of time and boring.. but KPC is no waste of time and it is not boring I love it.

I would start with Basic Step or you might be lost. If you can, try to get the set on ebay that has Basic Step, Body Fusion, and Low Impact Step. It can be hard to find though. Low Impact Challenge from LIS is an intermediate workout except the choreography is pretty tricky. Low Impact Circuit is good as well as 4DS. I personally really like Low Max too. Those songs get stuck in my head all the time and I do the workout just to hear the songs. You might want to check your local library to see if they carry Cathe DVDs. It's a great way to try out a DVD before purchasing it.

I second starting with Basic Step. I don't think I would have ever fallen in love with step if I hadn't started with that one.

Also, if you can't find the DVDs at your library, almost all of the Low Impact Series is available for rent on Amazon for $2 for 7 days.

ETA: With the Amazon rentals, you won't be able to use premixes but at least you will get a feel for the workout.

I agree with starting with the Basic Step/Body Fusion dvd workout to learn the moves. For me, I thought the choreography in Low Max was a bit tricky to learn at first. If you dont mind a more dated look, I think her older workouts move a bit slower and break the moves down more. I'd suggest the dvd Classics Volume 1 which contains Step Jam, Step Heat and Step Max. The workouts have 2-3 step segments per workout so you could even practice 1-2 segments each time. Of her newer workouts I think the choreography in Cardio & Weights is a good place to start and it also has premix where you can just do the step segment only and not the weights. Kick Punch and Crunch is also good for a non-step workout. Once you get the moves down from those workouts, I think you could do most any of her newer workouts which tend to move a tad faster and she throws some interesting spins on the older moves. Her older workouts also "teach" the moves a bit more whereas the newer ones kinda assume you know the names of moves and she jumps right in and goes! Her new Low Impact Series is also an option, workouts such as Afterburn, Athletic Training, Cardio Supersets, and Turbo Barre are pretty easy to learn. I thought the step workout in this series was a bit tricky. You also really dont need a gliding disc for these if you dont have one. They are great workouts and easy to modify without one. I dont have one and still work up a sweat everytime! Have fun and dont be discouraged!! Congrats on all your progress!
