New to Cathe but not step

I am new to Cathe but not to step aerobics. I used to do step at the gym. I recently got BS & BF and LIS. BS was too easy, LIS is more my speed. I don't like anything TOO tricky but challenging enough to make it fun and keep it interesting. What should be my next step cardio purchase?

Also, I am FIRM user for strength training and BF was too easy with medium resistance tubing. What should be my next circuit training total body workout purchase?

Thanks in advance

Hi Debbie - I think you should try some of Cathe's older step workouts like Cardio Hits or Classic Hits. They're a little less complicated and they'll help familiarize you so that you will feel comfortable attempting any of Cathe's step workouts. As for circuit training, I don't care much it but I do like the CTX series. Take a look at these video clips and see if they're anything you might be interested in.

Which do you like better Cardio Hits or the Classics? I know the classics are a little harder according to the forum. Are they a lot different? TIA

I am relatively new to Cathe myself, and the first tape that I ordered was Low Max, which I love. It is so much fun, and it is also a great workout for your legs. Now I have five more Cathe DVD's, but I didn't do them all yet. I did Imax 2 on Saturday night, and that was fun, but extremely intense. I began Rhythmic Step last night, but I was a little tired so I didn't complete it all. I find that I have to do Cathe's Step Tapes a few times before I get the choreography down, but her workouts are better than anybody else's

I don't really think one is more difficult than the other. I have one VHS off Cardio Hits (PowerMax) and two VHS (Step Jam & Step Heat) off of Classic Hits. I like them all but if I had to choose I'd say PowerMax is my favorite!

I have the Classics and Cardio Hits and really prefer the latter. PowerMax and StepWorks are AWESOME workouts and so fun!

Good luck!
Marie

Are the Cardio Hits a lot of high impact? A lot of high impact scares me since I'm almost 40. I'm leaning towards Low Max for this reason. But I see Low Max is more intense. Can I get a good enough workout if I can't do LM on the 8 in. step at first and do it on a 6 in? Is it possible to make it shorter than 70 min using the premixes if I can't last the full 70 min?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance :)

It depends on how fit you are, but I am over forty, and I do Low Max on an eight inch step. Like you, I have to be careful about my knees, and I also want to know if Cardio hits is a little more low impact. Yes, it has premixes that make it less than seventy minutes, and they are more like 45 minutes.

I think that you can get a good workout on a six inch step if you are more vigorous with your arm movements. Don't worry about asking questions; I also have a million questions.

I'm 45 with bad knees and PowerMax doesn't bother me. If you want to do a lot of stepping though, work yourself up to it slowly... Once I discovered Cathe's step I was so excited about finding something that I enjoyed and did a doozy on my knees. I had to take a break and then work back into it slowly.
