New Runners June 2010

Happy June 1st!

Jane - Ouch! I've never had IT issues, but that's smart to take care of it before it gets too bad. Sorry you had to miss your race! You're swims sound intense! Of course, i can't do one lap without stopping, so . . .

Alisha - I haven't tried epsom salts, but it's actually much better. It's just that once something puts me down, it's hard to get back up and moving again! Anyone around here can come over and drag my butt out of bed at 5 a.m.? One time is all it'd take! LOL! Yep, just gotta get up that first morning and the rest will follow! Still working on it!

Hi Cindi and Lisa! Can't wait to hear how your June 1st has gone or what your plans for today are!

Step moves

I will probably do that one later today. I spent the morning doing chores (kitties give love for a clean litter box;)) and editing video. I might play hooky and go see Iron Man 2. I have to go to the post office and the store anyway, so why not make it a 3 hour errand trip:p

Tricia- I am glad you are feeling better.

The only trick with baths is keeping the tub clean on a regular basis so that when you are injured its ready to go because most peeps can't manage cleaning a bath tub if they are hurt enough to need to use it.

Iron Man 2 was great, Alisha - better than 1 IMO.

Tricia - I would come to you if I could get myself out of bed at that time! I'm and afternoon exerciser.

Hi Lisa!

Jane - I think you were wise not to run the race. Hope you are feeling better.

What a long weekend!

I only did some walking on Saturday. We drove up to Minneapolis Friday (7 hours) for a cello event for Honor. Spent some time Saturday afternoon at Mall of America and drove home Sunday. Ran 5 miles of intervals Sunday evening. Then 4 miles Monday morning and 3.5 Monday evening. I was TIRED! Plus a lot of walking yesterday too because both Paul and David were in the memorial day parade and between dropping off and picking up, we walked the route a couple of times. Then we all got rained on! It was ok, fun even in the rain. Weights/core today.

My sister's exhusband's wife's daughter died today. She was only 17 years old. She had a head trauma from a car accident. I only just now heard. I did not actually know her (they live down in San Diego) but it made doing Step Moves less fun than usual. Thank G for Cathe because otherwise I might be courting a depression over that one on top of going to a different funeral tomorrow. If you don't mind, keep her soul in your prayers, thx.

btw Iron Man 2 was great!

Alisha

Alisha - I'm so sorry! {{{{Hugs}}}} I will keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers. What a tragedy and a loss! Too young. I'm glad you were able to have a little enjoyment in your day (IM2)!

My tub is reserved for puppy baths! Of course, they haven't had a bath in a while because it's full of heavy duty containers full of computer gear and equipment! As you can tell, I rarely take baths!

Cindi - No wonder you're tired! Whew! I think you did my workouts too and that's why I didn't feel like I needed to! LOL! Thanks for the offer, but you'd have to move out east or I'd have to move out west!

Another unsuccessful attempt at getting up and getting going this morning. Everyone send a mental shout out at 5 a.m. eastern time tomorrow for me! If you "yell" loudly enough, maybe that'll get my butt up! I've put Gym Styles BSB on the agenda for tomorrow - we'll see . . . I'll let you know if I make it!

Hi Everyone!

Tonight I did a Tabata workout filled with squats, planks, push ups, and swings. Afterwards I did some ab work. I did a small run as warm up tonight and my IT felt pretty good. I'm still doing the stretches and rolling.

Alisha ~ {{{Hugs}}}. How horrible and sad. It's so heartbreaking with they go young. I'm glad you did you workout. I will definitely keep you and her family in my prayers tonight.

Cindi ~ It's sounds like you had a fun weekend. I've been to Mall of America and that is one HUGE place.

Tricia ~ Ummm...I found a nice little house for you in Albany. It's in a beautiful location...in the middle of a cotton field...except it doesn't have any a/c. I'm packing up my gear and heading north so you better get your little butt out of bed and start working out. I'm gassing up my car.... LOL!!!:eek: Seriously...GS BSB is one of my FAVORITE workouts. I'm up at 5am so I will definitely be yelling your way.

Hey TRICIA!! I got my butt out of bed at 5 am this morning - that's 6 am out East. Where were you? I'm tired of doing your workouts for you! :) Ran 4 miles this morning.

Alisha - What a sad story - I will pray for the family. (glad you liked Iron Man 2).

Jane - glad your IT is feeling better.

Hi Lisa.

Hey Gang!

I made it up this morning! Woo-Hoo!

Cindi - That's why you didn't see me! I was working my arms to death this morning! Yowza! That's one tough workout! My first time with GS! Actually, 6 a.m. here I was logging in my workout as done! Good for you getting a run in that early!

Jane - I already have a house with no a/c, thank you very much. Also, if you have to find me a house down there, make sure it's in the middle of a peanut field. I love fresh peanuts! I'm not picking cotton for you - nuh-uh, forget it. LOL! It's nice up here. Warm, but nice. Not humid at all. The beach is right here, lots of sailing . . . Come on, Jane, you know you want to come up . . .

Hello to Lisa and Alisha!

Aw, heck, everyone's invited! Come on to my house! It's not a great house, but it would be a lot of fun!

Hi ladies,
I did Pyramid Full Body this morning and a little yoga then worked in my rock garden - er, I mean my new perennial bed. I stayed up late last night to make strawberry freezer jam. So yummy!

Jane - I hope your IT band is doing better.

Alisha - ((HUGS))

Tricia - I'm trying to reset my internal alarm clock too. I had been waking up at 530 sharp then I didn't sleep well a couple of nights and now I can't seem to get up before 730. Trying to get it shifted back the other way.

Cindi - Whew, sounds like fun. I'm tired just listening to you!

Lisa

Good news

My cousin sent an email with a video of their ultra sound, they are having a baby! I am taking a rest day, my tummy was bleh.

Alisha

Hi Everyone,

Here is the workout I did yesterday:

Max rounds in 30 minutes:
10 swings
10 push ups
10 ball slams
10 bicep curls w/kb
10 anchored sit ups
10 jump squats
10 walking lunges (10 each leg).

I did a little running after my workout last night and my IT felt pretty good. It's still a little tight though. I continue to roll and stretch every night.

Alisha ~ Congrats to your cousin. I hope your tummy feels better.

Lisa ~ Your strawberry jam sounds yummy!!

Tricia ~ I'm glad you made out of bed yesterday! Yay!!

Hi Cindi!

Jane - I already have a house with no a/c, thank you very much. Also, if you have to find me a house down there, make sure it's in the middle of a peanut field. I love fresh peanuts! LOL!!! :D:D

Good morning ladies!

Did an itread workout last night-40 minutes with Grace. I was really happy that I could keep up and match her jogging levels.

Alisha - congratulations to your cousin! hope your tum-tum feels better.

Tricia, Jane, Lisa - HI!

The tummy is feeling better. I'm going to do a step workout later. Probably something more steady state, any suggestions?

I want to come over! I will bring the fruit salad. I make this great yogurt dressing.

Hi everybody!

Hi ladies,
This morning I did Bum Bum Live and Tummy Tuck then some Namaste yoga. I may run this afternoon.

Hi to everyone!
Lisa

Lisa - Keep trying to get back on your 5:30 schedule! At least you're still getting your workouts in! If I'm not up in the morning, it just doesn't get done! I got back on mine yesterday and I've been up 2 days in a row! Woo-Hoo! FINALLY! I feel so much better except for that it's so stinking hot in the house even in the morning now! Yuck! Had to turn my downstairs a/c on this morning at 5 a.m. just to get through IMAX2!

Hope you get your run in!

Alisha - Congrats to your cousin! How exciting! Glad your stomach is feeling better! What workout did you end up doing?

Jane - You go with your KB! When I finally get some, you'll have to send me some of your routines to try! It's going to be a while, hopefully no later than next summer!

Cindi - Great! Such an accomplishment when you find yourself improving to the level of the instructor/workout!

Okay, fruit salad - check! Who's next? We still need dessert! Cindi? Jane? Lisa? Next we need a date! I know! You should all come up and celebrate 4th of July with us! Bring the pups! We walk ours over to the park for the fireworks, then walk back home. It'd be a hoot! All of us and our dogs crammed in my tiny house! What a blast that'd be! Of course, our luck, it would rain that weekend! Ha, ha! We'd all be stuck inside!

We have a great bike/walking path right by the water. We could take the dogs out for a run or down the Eastside of Providence. Hmmm, choices, choices . . . then, there's always Newport's Cliff Walk. . .

LOL! Someday we should all hook up somewhere in the middle for a race or something!

Anyway, Leaner Legs and Core Max on the menu for tomorrow! Have to review that one tonight. I've never done it!

Oh, my new step arrived today! Yippee! Nothing like 24 hour service!

Hi Chickas!!

I took a rest day yesterday, however I continue to stretch and foam roll.

I am going to the track after work to test out the leg. I have a race next weekend. I am suppose to do the 12K but may do the 5K instead.

Lisa ~ I hope you got your run in yesterday.

Alisha ~ I'm glad the tummy is feeling better.

Tricia ~ I'm there and I'll bring the dessert. I love making desserts and eating them!!:eek::eek::eek:

It would be really cool to meet somewhere and do a race or something. We definitely need to keep that in mind!

Hope every has a great Friday!!

Speaking of desserts, Trader Joe's has a gluten free brownie mix which is pretty good especially if you add extra chocolate chips;)

I am leaning towards a walk. It was supposed to rain this morning. I don't think its that wet out there. Yesterday's workout was oddly difficult. I think I can't eat chex. They are gluten free but I sort of bonked and I had a baggie of those (little sandwich size) with my squash for lunch two hours prior and I just felt awful. I only did the regular step portion, not the blasts on LIC. I did get a good burn but sheesh, I think that cured me of chex snacking. No way do I ever want to feel that bad again.

Later this morning I'm heading over to the co-op. I'm getting some fish oil, homeopathics, and maybe a snack or two. Today is a lower calorie day. I'm feeling all fat and I'm too much of a chicken to get on the scale, I'm hoping that feeling goes away.

Hi everybody!

Hi Runners! Busy day for me at work so I haven't had a chance to check in.

A co-worker passed away last weekend and his funeral was today. It was so sad around the office, a lot of people from work attended the service. He was just 48 years old and had been fighting cancer for 2 years. He leaves a wife and 2 daughters - ages 14 and 9. Really tragic and heartbreaking.

So - that was part of my day. The rest of my day was spent in employee ratings meetings, just how you want to spend your day...bickering over great people who are being forced to rank against each other. Corporate america can really suck sometimes.

OK - rant over. Thanks for listening. :)

Last night I did a moderate intensity workout. I did the 'advanced' workout from Punch! a Weight Watchers workout with Stephanie Huckabee (former FIRM instructor). Then I did a 20 minute core workout (also from WW) with Michelle Dozois - first time with her. I enjoyed them both and felt like I got a nice workout but not draining. The Punch! workout is kickboxing for the non-kickboxer if anyone wants a simple intro to this style of workout that still gets your HR up.

I'm going to try to get in the weight workout I didn't do the other day. Tomorrow I'm going to spin class and Sunday I'm planning a longish run (8 miles) before I cut back before the relay next Friday.

You all have a great weekend!

Alisha - glad you are feeling better. Fruit and yogurt - YUMMY! Rice does a number on my blood sugar - goes UP and DOWN fast.

Lisa - really, Bum Bum, Tummy Tuck, Yoga AND a run? WOW!

Tricia - We've had some warmer than normal weather too, makes working out tough! I like turning the AC off because I like the fresh air but if it's humid - it is so hard to workout.

I'm great with Desserts. :) How about chocolate cake with cinnamon ice cream?

And your step arrived! WOO HOO!!

Jane - Hope your leg tests out ok at the track.
