Cathlete
Hello to all!

I just discovered Cathe about a month ago and just fell in love with her style! I wanted to do step aerobics to strenghten my legs and bought a step that had a DVD of hers with it. That started the whole thing! I now have about 10 of Cathe's DVDs including some of her low impact and XTrain series, which I seem to do better with than step aerobics. Can't seem to get the brain and feet to sync yet. I had started doing circuit training DVDs in August with another trainer who loves unusual moves that I just couldn't seem to conquer. Anyway, here I am at age 63 doing Cardio Supersets and Athletic Challenge and though I can't always complete all repetitiions, I'm hanging in there until I can and loving it. Sitting on my tush for 25 years didn't do me any favors so I have some weight to lose. Cathe's workouts have certainly helped push past a plateau I was having!

Anyway, I'm glad I found her!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Cathe, Susan! I'm sure you will find you fall more and more in love the more you do Cathe's workouts. Kudos to you for starting Cathe at the age of 63! I discovered Cathe in 1999 and have not looked back! Welcome again:D:D:D

Hey SusanBC! Glad to hear you are off your tush! Welcome! Cathe helped me get through that dreaded plateau as well. It took a bit of time to get up to speed with her but it is sooooo worth it! She is the Queen of home workouts and seems to know exactly what we think and feel while doing the workouts! Just remember to modify when needed. Completing ANY of her advanced workouts is an accomplishment and worthy of praise. If you have any questions about Cathes workouts just come to the forum! These folks know their stuff. Check out her daily deals too. That's how I got most of my dvd's (on sale). Keep up the hard work and you will see results and rewards to your body! Many congrats!

Welcome Susan and congrats!! Trust me, once you start buying her workouts it is difficult to stop until you have them all. :p The only ones I can safely stay away from are the step aerobics since I have two left feet. Watch for the deal of the day promotions, especially this time of year. The savings are killer!

Don't feel bad, no body can complete all the reps in the beginning. Thats part of what makes Cathe great, she really challenges us.

Welcome to the fold!! Being a Cathlete is a wonderful life style.:D Don't forget to join a check in for daily support and bragging rights!!!

Thanks to all!

Thanks for all the encouragement! I really appreciate all the support here and the kind thoughts!

I'd really like to get into a weekly rotation I can do 5-6 days a week but I'm still kind of feeling my way through all the great workouts and trying them out. I'm discovering that I'm not really ready for some of them like the XTrain Low Impact HIIT. I did it once through but my legs are not quite strong enough so I thought I needed to step back one level. I can do the Low Impact Cardio Supersets though and I've done that one about four times now. I like the HIIT because I'm seeing good results with that but not sure how often to do those and what to rotate that with. Suggestions would be great!

Thanks Again to all!!!

Hiit is addictive! I find myself wanting to do it all the time. However, it's not recommended that you do Hiit workouts more than 2-3 times a week. Actually, I think you're better off keeping it to twice a week to avoid over-training. It's tough stuff!

Susan---All Out Low Impact Hiit is a certified tough challenge for the legs. I've been working out w/Cathe since the late 1990s, and I find this one a leg burner (in same ways, tougher than Tabatacise Level 5, which I find very doable. ;)). Don't be hard on yourself. The fact that you are doing it is an inspiration and trust me, your legs will get stronger from it.

A bit of an aside, but I am so happy that there are so many athletes here in my age group (50) and older. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D I find it an honor to know that so many ladies who paved the way for us "younger" females are Cathletes and still going strong. We owe you a huge debt in terms of women's rights, and I don't think it's recognized enough, particularly by those who didn't come of age during the 60s/70s. OK, off my femi-nazi soapbox (haha!).

WELCOME!!! :) :) :) You will love being a Cathlete!! I found Cathe 1 year ago and she has changed my life. She has amazing workouts and her DVDs are top-notch!

I consider myself a beginner exerciser (still) and just received Xtrain. I posted a modified Beginner Rotation for Xtrain over in the Rotations forum. You can certainly check it out and modify it to fit your needs using some workouts from LIS too. :) It is a 5 day/wk rotation using premixes around 30 mins. I thought it would be a good way for me to get back to more regular workouts and so it might be helpful for you too! :)

Again welcome the the world of being a Cathlete!!!

HIIT and Rotations

Swimmer, thanks for the information on the Low Impact Cardio Supersets. It is a tough workout! I thought I was better conditioned than I actually am after doing all the circuit training I did since early August but obviously I have a long way to go yet but I'm loving it! Yes, I think twice a week will be entirely enough. I did it this morning and my legs are still screaming!

Candiceena, I will certainly check out that rotation. Thanks for the information.

At 63, I refuse to be an "old lady"! I'm blessed with good health and why not capitalize on it! I've lost 25 pounds so far and still working out and watching what I put in my mouth carefully and I really don't feel my age. In fact, other than muscle soreness to be expected, I feel better than I have in years! I guess 60s are the new 40s!

Again, I think Cathe is a godsend to me to help me get where I need to be. She knows how to do it and does it in such a great way! I love it when she says, "Are you working?" Makes you pay attention!

Thanks to all!

I totally agree!!!! :D

Welcome Susan!

Cathe is amazing at what she does! I'm so glad you found her. I used to go to the gym daily until I found her and now that's all I need. I never thought I wouldn't have a gym membership but when I have my own personal trainer in my basement that's even better haha!

So happy you found her :)

Welcome Susan! Welcome to the fountain of youth. I am almost 60 but what is a number?Cathe keeps us looking and feeling our best. I fell last week power walking in the grocery store. I did the splits and landed on my knee.Yes, I was black and blue and sore for a few days but my bones are strong and I recovered enough in a week I was doing XTrain leg workout! You will not regret getting in the best shape of your life! Wishing you the best, Kat

Don't worry about the HIIT workouts being super hard, because they were designed that way. I just do what I can at my own pace, and over time that increases.

Do you have Low Max yet? Thats one of my favorite lower body/cardio workouts. I recommend starting with one of the premixes.

Don't forget to have a protein snack after a strength training (be it from high reps or low, with or without weights.) session. That will help with the soreness.

Do you have a foam roller? That can help with soreness too.
