Need to vent a little...long(sorry)

A bit over a year ago, I completely ruptured my L5 S1 disk (think disk gunk flowing out all around the nerves) and tore the disc at L4 L5. My calf muscle stopped working and my foot was always numb. I had the worst sciatica (at least I thought so:)). I was told that surgery was my best option but I decided to give physical therapy a try instead. It took a REALLY long time (I'm talking months), but PT fixed me up and I'm pretty much pain free now. I no longer do high impact or lift really heavy, but I can do everything else and I feel good. Cardio Coach, Leslie Sansone and Jari Love were my life savers during my recovery period.

So I would say to you, don't jump into surgery. There are other options. PT is the best. And I loved how PT's goal was to get me back to being active. It wasn't just to stop the pain. By the way, I didn't bother with most of the pills I was prescribed. I did take Advil quite a bit for pain, but I also got a lot of help by taking systemmic enzymes (they were great for reducing inflamation).
