Hi Everyone

A little about me....

I'm 34 have two wonderful little ones:eek:) Started working out in the gym then my daughter got hurt with the daycare ther....looong story needless to say she lost two teeth and poor thing does not want to go back...which can not blam here. This was a big big gym. at this point I been trying to look into what else to do. I' 5'5 and about 125 lbs. My goal is to tone and add defination and loose inches. I would like to loose inches and more weight.

I'm very hard to modivate, I love the cathe dvds that I have but feel I get side tracked and do not get motivated at home. My one daughter is going every day to school this fall for 1/2 day and my other is going 2 days a week for 2 hours.....so

Do I try to start back up at home?
Join a gym? (we have on gym that is just a gym and you can pay for fitness classes seperate.)
We have another place that does body pump classes and body vibe (no daycare so would have to do this on the two morning my little one would be in school) but is 2 days enough???

Sorry everyone I'm just dissapointed with myself and not sure what way to turn and make it right...hope you can help and give advice:eek:))))

Welcome, Tammy! :)

I'm so sorry about your daughter. 2 teeth?! I don't blame her for not wanting to go back either. I hope she's feeling better.

The lack of motivation at home might be remedied by being active on this forum. In addition to the new toys that are being developed (like the Workout Manager), you can participate in a workout "check in," which would both push you to complete the workout AND enjoy encouragement from other Cathe fans.

Plus just being on the forum, talking about DVDs, premixes, food, etc., is excellent motivation. And the "Open Discussion" forum allows you to just BS about anything, which is fun socially. :D

Hang out with us!

thanks:eek:)

Well I guess where should I start with DVD's. I know I have the kick boxing ones..those are fun. I have a step/high step/barbell with weights/hand weights.

I like the idea of a body pump style or basically anything with great music which is most of cathe's DVDs.

So for toning and loosing inches and maybe 5-10 lbs what do you suggest?

Thank you again

Tammy

Hi Tammy,

Welcome to the forums. The previous poster was correct. You will be sure to get some great advice here.

Since you have a high step, you might want to try High Step Challenge. It uses both cardio and weights and moves along at a great pace. It will really get your heart rate up and you can go heavier or lighter with the weights. Also boot camp is really fun. That was the first Cathe dvd I got and I love it! Boot camp also comes with muscle endurance which is fantastic!

In between Cathe workouts, don't forget that little everyday activities help out. Take your kids outside and play a game a tag or go for a walk. It all adds up.

Right now, I think you need to start slowly. If you only workout for 2 days a week then do that. Sometimes if we start too quickly, we got tired and lose motivation. Just do what you can and stay consistent.

Please don't be discouraged. Everyone goes through periods where they fall off the wagon. If that happens come back here and we will get you back on track.

HTH,

Hmmm how to stay motivated is a tough question.

First, I think having support, like this forum, a friend, or a personal trainer definitely helps.

Second, it's also important to find the type of exercise you like to do. You sound like you are interested in Body Pump, so you might want to do that class 1 or 2 days per week, and then maybe workout at home for a few days per week. Me, I don't like kickboxing and I wouldn't last long working out if I had to kickbox. On the other hand, I love weight lifting. Put a barbell in my hands and I'm ready to go!

Third, buying new workout toys, outfits, DVDs usually motivates me. I recently painted my workout room, that gave me a boost.

Fourth, track your progress. I like to track the weights use, my weight/bodyfat and my measurements. I like to see how my numbers improve over time.

I think that in order to see results you'll want to workout a minimum of 3-4 days per week. If you must start doing less do it (it's better than nothing) but if you don't see results, you probably aren't going to stay motivated. Nothing motivates me more than seeing muscle tone forming and feeling my clothes get looser.

Thanks everyone

If I try to do cathe 3 days a week what dvds do you think I would see the results I'm looking for. I can always go to a bodypump class one day and that will keep my going and do DVD's the rest of the time. Which DVD's have you seen results with. I know it will not happen overnight but nothing feels as good as seeing results and being full of energy:eek:)

three days a week with results

Hi,

I am a work out at home only gal, I got my kids used to being around for my workouts so I would not have to use nap times to do my workouts, because if I wait until they go down for a nap, I will never do it.

Anyway, I have been working out for 5 years only 3 times a week and I see great results. The workouts I started with were all a combination of cardio and weights, so I would get both. I did high step training, cardio and weights, low impact circuit, drill max, body max, high step challenge, all because they would give me the cardio and weights at the same time. If you do the workouts three times a week and are about 80% faithful to eating clean and portion controlled, you should see results that will last.

I hope that helps, good luck!

Cendrine

Thanks

True for naps...I think I just need to do it 1st thing in am:eek:)

Ok ladies give me your top 5 result workouts....I'm looking to loose maybe 5-10 lbs but for sure want to tone and loose inches....my problem areas are back fat...at leaset I think I have some, I want iches off thighs, belly needs help after two kids...overall just need some inches gone and some nice definition:eek:)

Thanks again...I love this board:eek:)))))

I've only been with Cathe for 4 months, so I'm not sure I can give you an accurate top 5. I don't have all of her stuff yet. ;)

I can tell you what I've done that I think led to me losing 9 pounds:

I started with Bootcamp/Muscle Endurance.

Then I played with 3 days of weights, 3 days of cardio (Pyramid Upper/Lower Body and Cardio Fusion). The weight workouts were roughly around a full hour. The cardio was anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes.

I started counting calories with a program like Fitday.

Like others have suggested, circuits might help you out if you only have 3 days a week for exercise. Drill Max is evil.

I'll throw in my 2 cents worth.

Check out Cathe's beginner rotation. That will give you some good ideas for buying some of her DVDs and how to arrange them for results.

Also, make heavy use of the preview clips on www.cathe.com. There are really good clips that help you see the essence of the workouts so you can see if it's something you would like.

Good luck and let us all know how you're doing! :)

TFIT- what's if your fitness level?? what is your workout background?

I used to be a firm believer and Cathe stole my heart...

I workout at home...there's no driving and I live in the sticks...the gym is too far away and with Gas the way it is...forget it.

Any you know, there's no better challenge than Cathe, as far as I'm concerned. I'd never push myself harder without Cathe's help.

I motivate myself by buying new workouts...keeping track of my workouts both weight and cardio.

I've made some really GREAT friends on another site...and just recently started posting here...but there is plenty of motivation out there...and doing rotations with friends is super fun too! I can't wait to see what my friends did.

I haven't broke into buying fitness clothes yet...but I think this winter I may be doing that because after my workouts...I go down and clean stalls in my barn...nothing like added workouts....smile...and workout clothes almost sound like a GREAT treat for a job well done...

Anyway...my 2cents...

my top 5...

Step Blast
kick Punch crunch
Butts and Guts
Gym styles

OOOPs that's six...oh well...I can't believe I can only have 5...that's like torture...

If you like Body Pump style workouts then I highly recommend Cathe's Power Hour workout. It's on the same DVD with Body Max and Maximum Intensity Strength. I haven't done the last 2 workouts very often, but I LOVE Power Hour. :D

First of all, so sorry about your daugther.

You will need to find an activity YOU enjoy... For me.. its really on working out from home with DVDS, I will never find the time to go to the gym, I really enjoy working out from home and Im happy I found cathe videos...

Hope you like it too!

Oh.. my top 5.

DRILL MAX
GYM STYLE LEGS
HIGH STEP CHALLENGE
BOOTCAMP
BUTTS AND GUTS

It really seams like 4DS bootcamp will become my favorite.. but I havent try it yet, Im recovering from a c-section

I don't know where you are fitness wise, but I have gotten the best results with 4DS. I break it up into 30 - 40 minute segments and I'm really toning up! Whoo! (So yes, Blessed, this could become your favorite!!) And I don't lift anywhere in the BALLPARK of Cathe and the crew (heck, I don't even lift near the entrance ramp to the freeway to that ballpark, LOL!!) but have made good strength gains with this series. I'm about to go up in weights!

My top five--that got me back in shape after my baby's birth--are:

Core Max (LOVE this, can never ever do without this now.)
4DS LIS Step Cardio
4DS Bootcamp Cardio
ALL 4DS weight work
Basic Step (This got me started back after a very looong layoff.

Bonus pick: Stretch Max. Don't forget your flexibility work, too!

Thanks Ladies:eek:)

what is 4ds??? sorry out o the loop a little

I would say I'm a intermediate level....but when it comes to step not so talented...lol

I guess that is my problem. I have to learn to work out at home. I feel that I do not have the time or I get side tracked that is why I was going to the gym. I loved the fitness classes. I was paying alot for the members hip...it was crazy. So if I decided to stay home I need to join a group challange or something where I have to check in.

These are the dvd's I have:

The firm Calorie Killer
Core Secrets Ab Assault
Core Secret Bun Battle
Power Yoga
the Firm Total Sculpt plus abs
Slim in 6
Getted Ripped to the core
Thw roks by shraon MAnnThe fIrm complete Aerobics and weight training

Cathe:
High Step Circut
Kick punch and crunch with legs and glutes
basic step plus boy fusion
thought I had another kickboxing somewhere of cathe's

I have a TON of VHS but never do VHS anymore...so if anyone is looking for videos please let me know:eek:)

So I prefer cathe vs all the other ones....what should I add.

My goal is to loose the inches and some weight and also tone and define:eek:)

Thank you all sooooo much!

Tammy

What is 4ds? should I orderthis DVD.

Is there any new check in that I can get involved in for some motivation:eek:)

Thanks

Tammy

http://www.shopcathe.com/4_Day_Split_Series_DVD_p/740.htm

is the link to 4DS - Four Day Split. There are several premixes...gosh I can't remember how many...if you look at the link it will tell you. But There's 2 stepping workouts that are short in length...like a half hour...and kick boxing and a boot camp style. I used to refuse to touch Bootcamp anything...but this tought me how much fun Boot Camp is...and I love it.

The weight work is broken down into 4 parts that are connected, but the premixes allow you to do all the weight work when you want to. I used to do a 2 way split. I did the weight work long before I ever did any of the cardio.

My first big cathe purchase was Body Blast http://www.shopcathe.com/Body_Blast_Series_Discount_Bundle_All_3_p/625.htm

There are 20+ premixes on each DVD and a workout blender that I haven't figured out how to use yet. But I've gotten lots of use out of this set. Especially Kick PUnch Crunch.

Honestly, I love working out at home and have done it for most of 12 years. I tried the gym and that's where I got into trouble. I hated it. I hate to drive...so, that would be my excuse...then gas got expensive and that became a better excuse. I wouldn't pull out my DVD's because I felt guilty for not going to the gym which was hugely expensive...and thought I should be going to the gym. That and other life changes...I gained 50 pounds.

As soon as I got rid of my gym membership...I felt more able to pull out my workouts and I did GREAT. Found Cathe and things are so much better.

I don't mind a gym visit here and there...but usually, I do that when I'm traveling...but I don't like it...and usually walk or run on my vacation and call it a rest week.
