Need ab subs

I THINK this exercise is in the weight/plate abs but it's the one where you have your legs up and lift your hips up off the ground. I can do it if I put my hands under my rear; but then there is one where you continue to lift but twist to the side. Is there a sub for that? I guess I just need some good subs for working the lower abs becasue getting my butt off the ground and then lowering it slowly while keeping any swinging out of it doesn't seem to be working without major tweeking.

You can do these against a wall. Legs will go "up" the wall - make sure your booty is touching the wall while you are on your back. Practice just the hip lift upward while keeping feet flexed. The wall controls your "swinging" and forces the lower abs to stay engaged. Once you can start to feel them and with no tweak you can start practicing the side twists. Remember that its not about how high you lift- its the attempt by the muscle to do the lift that targets the abs.
