Hi! DH and I have whittled our son's name list down to two (we think!). I'd love to hear some honest opinions- please tell me which you like better and why.
Thanks soo much!

Evan Matthew Krieger

Cole Matthew Krieger

Hi Lisa,

I would vote for Cole. Although Evan is a good name too! Either way you won't go wrong.

Needed to edit just to say: Holy cow! I only have 35 more days!

I like Cole since it's not as popular right now, so it would be less likely that there would be two other little boys with his name in the first grade. Very distictive sounding!

Have you seen the website www.namepower101.com? It's very interesting. It's the site of a "nameologist" who grades first names. Just one more thing to consider. :)

Oh good! One name is beginning to pull ahead now. I got concerned when the poll was tied! This is very helpful- keep the votes coming. And hearing honest comments is exactly what I want. I was concerned about the masculinity level of Evan too ;)

LOL! I already voted, but didn't give a reason for why I picked Cole. It's because "Cole" comes out much easier and more forcefully than does "Evan" . These are important considerations, as it makes it much easier on your vocal chords to say such things as "Cole! Don't you dare shave the cat!!" or "Cole! I said COME HERE!!"

Go to your back door and take turns yelling "Cooooooooleeeee! Time to come in!" "Evaaaaaaaannnnnn! Time for dinner!". See which one is easier to say :)

Ever practical,
Sandra

Evan sounds more distinguished to me, but I would wait till the little guy is here and see if he looks more like an Evan or Cole. Both are darling names.

Ease of pronunciation... a very good point. My daguhter is named "Adriana", and it does not come out easily even for someone who knows perfectly well how to say it and has a thousand times. So now I am avoiding calling her "Adi" (which is how she pronounces her name) just because it is easier. I think it is not a vrey pretty or feminine nickname and don't want it to stick.

Now the votes are tied again- too funny!
And Sandra- I love your practical advice! The shaving the cat thing made me laugh! And Peachy- on your recommendation I did check out the name website and found that she rated both names very highly! Much higher than mine and DHs! So that is good.
I think we will end up waiting until we meet this little boy before making it official, like we did with our daughter. Until we met her, the names were Alyssa Madeline or Melina Elisabeth. Once she was born, DH and I both said "She looks like Alyssa!"
Hopefully it will be that clear this time too :)

I think Cole is very popular right now. My SIL just named her little boy that and said there are 2 others in his church daycare. But it is cute.

I vote for Evan because I have always found Cole hard to say. But they are both great names!

I keep coming back to this thread to see which name is winning out. To be quite honest, I like them both, but I guess I'm more partial to Cole for some reason. Must be the flow of the name off my tongue.

Cole is more forceful, but it makes me think of that Tom Cruise movie, Days of Thunder. Tom's character was named Cole Trickle. I like both Evan and Cole, but I think Cole sounds more like a "man's name". Evan does, too, but I see "Evan" as the name of a guy who is mild-mannered and meek, who doesn't speak up.

Hi all! I'm so pleased with the number of votes this poll is getting! You guys are the best. Right now it's 7 votes Evan, 6 votes Cole.

And yup we do know about Cole Trickle from Days of Thunder...DH has jokingly referred to this baby as Cole Trickle Krieger. :)
I think I agree that Evan sounds like a quieter person, where Cole might be more determined and self-assured.

Keep the votes coming!
Lisa
