My workout Room

WantFit

Cathlete
I've been working out in my basement for over 4 years. It is in our unfinished basement. I share space with my kids' toys. This past weekend, we finally organized it and make it look like for real.

Here it is:

I'm jealous. I wish I had a basement I could use for working out, but I have a 81 year old house with a cellar - a wet, somewhat creepy cellar with big spiders I talk to when I'm doing laundry. My workout room is my living room and I store all my barbell equipment behind the couch. I keep all my DVDs in one of those DVD storage books. Works great and takes up no room at all.

Looks good! Congrats!

Very nice! :D It looks like you are very organized. highfive Doesn’t it just feel great to workout in “your” space? What is that yellow ball?

Awesome!! DF and I just turned our unfinished basement into my workout room after I broke the coffee table moving it to workout. I love, love, love having a special place for all of my fitness equipment!!

Wantfit,

You did a fantastic job on your workout space!;) Now there are no excuses for not working out, congratulations.

Looks great!

Your squat cage looks like mine. Is that a hoist? I love the guides that hold the barbell! I use my cage for pull-ups too:D

wantfit-I'm jealous,looks wonderful!!!!!!
dss62467-I'm in your boat. I have a 100+ year old stone farm house w/ a basement that is creepy and 5'6" ceiling,no go there. I too use the living room and hide the barbell behind a chair, my step and bench behind the door......whatever works:)

Thanks, dss62467. I actually still say hi to some crawling creatures on my floor. Some of them really creep me out, with so many legs...:(.

JannR, thanks. It feels really good to have my own workout space. My DD works out with me some times. My son wants to join in. But he is too young.:p. Yellow ball is the same fit ball. It is just small to fit my DD. She is only 4'11".

trixie108, Congrat for your own special space, too.

janiejoey, no, I don't have any excuse. I started to be addicted with kettlebell workout. Thanks for gals in this forum introducing me that.

fit44, no, mine is called "Weider smith and rack". I got it when it was on sale from Costco, with extra 250lbs plates and free shipping and handling. I mostly use it for pullup, too:p. My DH uses other functions. We would attach band to it for some of my DD's exercises.

Wow! Your basement looks HUGE! It looks amazing and I would just love to have it!! Thanks for sharing.

I am soooo envious of the space you have to work with! My workout room is so crammed. I can barely do anything other than weight work in it. :( I wish my basement was that big!

My basement is not finished so that there is no partition wall. We have a corner for my husband's work space, filling with his tools. The rest is mine and kids. My son sometimes spills his toys over my puzzle mats.;) So we have to keep picking up his toys. DH and I were talking about finishing basement for as long as we moved in. But it is never materialized.:p I guess we are getting comfortable to current arrangement. Plus we don't have $$$$ to do it yet.:D

Thanks for sharing! I must admit, I'm quite jealous. My workout room is small. I'd love to workout in my spacious basement (unfinished, but it's big), however, the ceilings are very low - I wouldn't be able to do leg presses or any move that required me to use even a 4' step.

But congrats on getting your room organized and looking so nice!!

Great workout area! You have a large basement! What type of cage is that and where did you purchase it?

I am jealous.I was using part of the garage, but that TV is no longer working, so I am back in the den until I can buy another TV.

Mine is Weider 875 Smith and I got it from Costco when it was on sale. It came with free shipping and additional 250lb weight plates. The deal was too good to pass. But when it arrived, it was semi assembled. Since stairs from our first floor to basement has a turn. It was not long enough to easily get the frame down there. It took my DH and his friend a lot of sweat and gruntle to get it down.;) I moved all the plates and parts down there by myself, trying to alleviate my DH spirit.

We don't have spare TV for my space. My DH did not want to spend money for TV until we get it finished. So I used my laptop. It was too small for my 40s old eyes. I then hooked it up with spare LCD monitor to Laptop. Now it works perfect.

The best thing about working out in my own space is I can dress whatever I feel like and still pretent that I am supper mom/lady. :D

I think I need to turn my avatar green with envy. My work out area is 6 ft by 3ft and then I have a small area for my gear of 3ft by 3ft. Needless to say, kickboxing is out of the question!
