My latest step class

I just taught my third class yesterday. Each class is better and better. As many of you read two weeks ago, my first class was kind of awful. Well, the second class was much better and yesterday's class was the best yet!

You are all very encouraging. In my class there is a woman named Beth who is exactly the angel sent specifically for me! She has given me great feedback every time, and I have used it! She works in the education/foster care system, and her education is in learning theory. So, she has told me how to teach more quickly and efficiently, so the class gets it faster.

Everything Cathe does in her videos looks effortless and smooth, but there are so many things going on at once, it takes a lot of practice to get as smooth as Cathe!

With an angel like I have, I'm getting a big head start.

Thanks for reading this! If I weren't so wrapped up in this new job, I would be obsessing about Power 90x. But as it is I barely have time for one upper and one lower body day per week. The rest of my workouts are practice sessions!

Have a great week!!:)

Way to go Connie! I'm so happy that your classes are stepping up (pun intended). Also, what luck to have a student that can help you with your teaching. Keep it up.:D

That's so great Connie! I am so glad you are enjoying it more now! It is nice that you have someone there that you can relate to so well and is able to give you feedback!

Keep it up and have fun! Oh...and P90X will be there when you are ready to start and have more time! This is my first week on it and it is great!

WOO HOO, Connie!!!! I knew you'd get better and better at this as you went along! Teaching is a tough thing to do. I've never taught fitness classes, but I have taught many an orientation class in nursing, and you have to adjust as you go along to fit your audience of the day. There are a great many things going on at once - I agree with you there! Remember that all we see on Cathe's DVD's or tapes is the finished product. We don't see the rehearsals or the re-takes, etc. Hang in there!! I know you'll be a success at this! You have the talent and the right attitude!!

Teaching aerobics and personal training are hard especially on the nerves. But it gets better and as your class gets to know you it will glide along.Good luck.

Thanks so much for posting about this again, Connie. Sounds like your're doing great, considering it's only your third class!

I'm leaving for Germany tomorrow with my oldest son for 4 weeks and when I get back, I'm going to pursue a part-time career in some area of fitness. (Does that sound vague enough? :) ) I'm not sure whether to study to be a group instructor or a personal trainer. I've researched a bit in each area and each one has its advantages and disadvantages. Both are needed in the rural area where I live.

Anyway, good luck with your career and keep on postin'!:)

YAAAAAAAY CONNIE!!!:) That's so great to hear, and like the old joke about how to get to Carnagie (sp?) Hall, the only way to get there is practise, practise, practise:) I've been teaching regularly for just over a year now and it's only in the past few months that I can actually relax and start chatting and joking with the class without flubbing my choreography. Experience is the best teacher. Cathe does make it look so easy, were so lucky to have her. It's wonderful that you have connected with Beth, a friendly face in the class can make all of the difference. Nice to hear you sounding more like your upbeat self, great job!!!:)

Enjoy your holiday Susan, sounds like quite an adventure for you and your lucky son!! Safe Travels, Bon Voyage!!!!

Take Care
Laurie

You go girl!

Congratulations Connie! I'm glad to hear that the first experience didn't scare you away. I knew that you had it in you to be a great instructor from your last post. Way to go!

Connie, I just knew with your patience, your WANTING to do the best and also your desire, you'd get there. First-time classes are sooo hard. The nerves do take a toll. Hang in there and you will see that each & every class becomes more relaxed. YaHoooo 4 U!!!

Best of luck with your 4th. They'll just keep getting better! I'd love to be your guinea pig! I hope you get a great group of students :)
