My Friend Said I that I have a problem....

Thank you for all of your responses!!! I do enjoy my new workouts, and love having variety!!! My doctor also said that I was doing very well, I didn't tell him how many videos I have though, I just told him I worked out 6 times a week ususally.

If you enjoy it, then it is worth every penny!

Just think how expensive it would be to have your own personal trainer, buying Cathe's tapes is cheap compared to that!

Yes, someone would think I was nuts for ordering almost all of Cathe's DVD's-- but I love them, I use them every day and I have no regrets!!

So tell your friend to just shutup! :) Just kidding.

I just dont think anyone who doesn't workout to tapes at home can possibly understand..

I am on a Cathe ordering spree and I want every single tape she has!! Of course, that isn't in my budget, but if I know me, I will have them all over the course of time.

Even my BF said why do I need more?? Variety, something new is usually motivational, I just want more!! that's all, so what?

And today i was talking to a woman who does some workouts at home and she was talking about her tape, I asked who the tape is, and she can't remember. I was like, how can you not know who you're working out to? not rude or anything and she definitely didn't take me rude, but my other friend said not everyone is fanatical like me.. well, tough !!! When I am into something, I am into it. I'm not fanatical (at least I dont think so). I am really trying hard and for now Cathe is my motivation and more power to me!!

My gosh, I know people who have hundreds of videos unrelated to fitness, what in the heck is wrong with having as many exercise videos as you wish to have? As long as it doesn't comprise every waking moment of your day and it's a healthy activity, it should be a GOOD thing.

No one has ever said a word about the 100 vids I have (the Intensity series has brought me to the 100 mark!). I think it's cool to have a variety to choose from. I work out 1x a day, usually an hour, and sometimes will only work out 4x weekly - I guess I just don't understand why people would even say anything about it. The only ones who have said anything to me were my parents, and their comments were very positive. I've seen other posts where people make rude comments and it blows me away.

You're not alone! I have about 50 or so videos. Addicted? No. Just a hobby... I do every video & when I tire of them I either exchange them, or sell them/buy new ones. Variety is the spice of life, no?

Rock on, sister!

I have b/w 90-100 vids at present and I love and do them ALL!!! Just not at the same time. :p

My Mom made a comment recently about how I might be 'going overboard' on buying tapes. Now, this is my Mom, who loves me dearly and only wants what's best for me. She's far from jealous of me. I think that sometimes we might too hard on the folks that question what we do. I think that for most folks, it's hard to see past their (and I'm talking about myself, also) own abilities and experiences. Let's face it...exercising with regularity for any length of time longer than about 6 weeks, is ODD!! Not the norm, that's for sure. We are really just about what....20% of the population? Somewhere around there, anyway. Hey, I think I'm the ONLY one that my parents know, who exercises (and has for 2 yrs) and looks forward to it. So, I took my Mom's comment as an opportunity to educate her re: the benefits of my 'going overboard'.

Clare, your list is perfect. I'm printing it out and I'll use it for educational purposes the next time someone questions my dedication (obsession?) to exercise. Any negative comments are just an opportunity to PREACH THE WORD!!! :D

I am an aerobic instructor because I did not like the way one particular instructor taught (cueing). That said, I love Cathe and all of her videos. I have almost all of them except perhaps the first one or two. I do have the Step N Motion one and Cardio Challenge plus all of the ones we can order on her website. I also have alot more of a variety of instructors. I lost count of how many I own and could use a database. I have 2 cabinets with videos and I know I have over 200 (even over 300 I think close to 400). I do not use most of them anymore but when I want variety when I teach I usually drag a few out to look for ideas. The videos that are always used are Cathe videos.
I am addicted to exercise. I could think of worse things to be addicted to including the smoking habit I gave up over 10 years ago. Everyone knows when they talk with me what they are going to get themselves into. Favorite subject and hobby. I even have my husband finally starting to add weight training to his lifestyle. That was the most difficult thing to do without alienating him.
I have to admit that I actually have fun debunking the "I don't have time for...." stuff and try to finish with "You don't have time to live healthfully?".
Most of the friends I am around most are those who wish to exercise. That is because they are with me at the gym as well. So I don't often have people who say things like that to me; if they do, so what. I know better. Obsessed - yes usually about this. I would not have it any other way.
To my obsession which has kept off 60 pounds for the last 3 years.

I have over 50 videos and don't give a hoot who sees them either. I love to workout. I love the endorphins they make me feel soooo much better. I also have a club membership.

I remember the years from 89-96 when I was sooo seriously sick from an autoimmune disease I pushing it to make work every day much less exercise or even do normal things that people do daily. Now that by the grace of God I'm all better and can workout like a maniac I'm gonna do it.

If anyone calls me addicted (which they have) I tell them "I sure am and it's only gonna get worse just hide and watch me honey"

My parents, of all people, doesn't support nor understand my love to workout. I started working out to Gilad when I was about 14, not for weight loss or anything, just because I thought it was fun to learn steps and dance around. My parents were VERY unactive people, and I always told myself that I'd never want to just lay around all the time like that. They are currently still obese and suffering from diseases such as breast cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure, and diabetes. They had obsessions like smoking, drinking(alcohol), and always eating unhealthy foods. I guess I feel like I need to set a better example for my kids, so I workout and try to be as healthy and fit as I can. As a child, I never had opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities, because my parents didn't beleive in it.

I'm 30 now and I've ran several 5Ks and I ran my first marathon in October. I've truly learned alot from videos and hope to become an aerobics instuctor/personal trainer very soon.

Take care of yourselves, if YOU don't, then who will??
