My first attempt at Step Blast last night...

And I almost figured out combo #1! I had no idea it would be that tough for me to learn. I repeated the first combo 3 times and I think I got it. Now, I only have to learn 2 and 3 and the blasts! What kind of time frame am I looking at here? LOL! On the up side, I no longer feel the need to buy any more Cathe DVD's until I master this one. Which step workout took the longest for everyone to catch on to?

The first time I tried SB, I sat on my step and cried, literally. It was so tough for me to learn, I couldn't believe it. But, I was also new to Cathe and to step. I just didn't give up. I tried some of her easier to learn workouts like The Classics, and BS, BF, and HScircuit. It took me a long time to try to look SB in the eye again, but now it is really a very fun workout.

You are doing to the exact right thing. Do it in pieces, get the hang of it etc. It will eventually come.

Good luck!

Hi!

Step Blast is definitely not easy to learn, but you got a great start. I think combo number 3 is the hardest. I practically do the whole routine now without a flub-up. Stepping is so cool - it really engages your brain! I think Rhthymic Step was harder for me to learn overall - you have to constantly think while working that routine.

They are both great. I think I like Step Blast a little more then RS due to the more athletic feel of it.

Just keep the remote in your hand so you can rewind! It helped me to watch the routine before actually trying it. You are smart by breaking it down one combo at a time.

You'll feel victorious when you do it all!

Have fun!

I fell in love with SB once I mastered it, I don't remember how long that took. It was RS that took me the longest to "get down".

Hang in there, you will get it, and it will be worth the work.:)

Step Blast took me a long time to get down. I would get so frustrated;( . I decided to learn it in chunks just like your doing now. I would add the 1st combo to the end of another cardio workout. That way I would feel like I got a good workout.

This took me a while to learn but I always felt successful. Now, this is my favorite step workout and on days when I am feeling extra perky, I do the step challenge twice!}(

Keep on trying!

I've just got this one too and I love it ! I have only done it twice but I found the choreography a lot better the second time - it's amazing what your brain seems to digest by itself in between workouts. The second time, I managed all three combos to be right at least some of the times through but as soon as I got to the challenge at the end - I was all over the place again :D - I just can't hold all that in my brain at once. But it does make the time fly and instead of thinking "I wish this combo would be over", you keep thinking "I hope we can just try one more time, I'm sure I'll get it this time!".

Exactly! I did combo two last night and was always hoping I'd get "one more shot" at it! I think I have one and two down now, so tonight it's review and on to three! What's the challenge? Is that one going to take another couple weeks? I focused on the combo premix first and just keep rewinding and doing the same combo over and over. I kind of figured the blasts and challenge would be a lot of simple power moves. Am I wrong?

Even if I am...good thing I love a challenge!:D

In the challenge you do all three combos though once on both sides, then a high intensity blast (which is quite straightforward) and this gets repeated 3 times in total. Even though I was okay at the combos separately when I got to putting them together I kept getting mixed up exactly which move I was doing and from which one. You may do better because you have been more careful learning each combo first :) I'm sure it will be very satisfying when we have got it off! Good luck!

I am still working on Step Blast. I don't know if I will ever be able to follow. But Rhythmic Step is way too hard for me to follow.

I'm still stuck on combo 3--the whole quick step/shuffle repeater thing is kicking my butt. I keep ending up on the wrong side of the step!
:D

One of the first Cathe DVDs I purchased was TimeSaver. It had combos 1 and 2 on one of the workouts, then combo 3 on another. Combo 3 is trickier. Such a feeling of accomplishment when you get it!

So, hang in there. It will come.
