My dog is in jail

DS came running into my bedroom this morning in a panic b/c the dog got off of her cable. She has tags, but DS must've hooked her cable onto the tag loop, which is not strong enough and which also must've tore her tags loose too when she pulled on it. This was NOT how I had envisioned my Sunday morning. I did, however, get lots of walking in before noon today. DH finally found out that one of our neighbors across the road called the dog pound to come and get her. They said they knew she was a 'cared for' beagle but didn't know who she belonged to. Apparently they let her in their house b/c she was crying and she immediately found the bed and headed straight for it....while her DH was still sleeping.

I am relieved to know where she is.....but I sure do wish she was going to be sleeping at the foot of our bed tonight like she usually does. This is the first time my baby has been to jail......and it had to be a Sunday when they are closed. Ah well, at least it's not one of my boys.:p But, it's gonna be a lonely night tonight.:(

Awww, I'm so sorry your doggie is in pup prison. :( I'm sure she'll be so excited to see you tomorrow, though, and at least you know she's alright and you'll get her back soon!!

When my dog was in jail, he got fleas so be carefull when you bring him home. Give him a good bath before letting him in the house. It took awhile to get of those darn fleas too.

We just picked up our beagle from a neighbor just a few hours ago. Boy, they can run!! We just got our beagle about a month ago and have found quickly that we need to fence our yard (maybe an electric one) in order to keep him inside the yard and safe. He gets on a scent and just runs!

Glad that yours will be safe in your home tomorrow!

Out of the hooscow early

We do a lot of work for the humane society but I didn't want to call and ask for a favor so I just kinda accepted the fact that Maggie would be behind bars until morning. It just so happens that step BIL caught wind of our situation and lives next to the lady who runs the 'jail' and had to talk to her anyways so he mentioned our situation and she gladly let her free tonight.:D

Thanks for the well wishes.....and the suggestions about the fleas. She was only there for about 6 hours but we gave her a good bath as soon as we got her home. She was so happy to see us and she is now exhausted!

I know I'm gonna sleep so much better tonight.

Oh, BTW Jenn - yes, the beagles run like the wind and make me nervous b/c they follow their noses no matter what. We've had beagles for about 15 years now, and I just love em' like crazy but this is their biggest downfall for sure. I fear one of these days if she gets loose, she will get hit in the road. That's why I am always very careful about hooking her up properly to the cable and, after today, I think DS will be much more careful. We have contemplated an electric fence, but were told that beagles will run right thru them. Apparently they get so involved in their noses that when they see or smell something they want to go after, they just GO....no matter what. I've also been told that regular fensing is not good for beagles b/c they dig like crazy. Plus, a fence would not be very feasible where we live and would be extremely expensive. I wish I knew the perfect solution to this problem. Any seasoned beagle owners out there with the answer?? Please chime in.......

I'm glad she's back home with you. :)

I once found a female beagle roaming my parents' neighborhood. I brought her back to their house (boy, were they surprised) and ended up tracking down her owners after about an hour of phone calls. Then I hand-delivered her. :D She was such a cutie.

oh, i got a better one than your dog. MY HORSE got put in jail. LOL! can ya believe it?. someone ran thru our fence and i was out of town. he was grazing along the road and animal control picked him up and took him in. it was quite funny, except we had to go to court. for real! and, becuz my guys are so gentle, he just jumped right into the trailer.

Sorry, can't resist, but your dogs need to meet up with THE GOOD CITIZEN!! They'd never end up in the big house!

:p:p

Seriously, I hope everyone ends up safely at home.

Glad your guy was released early! Give him an extra hug and kiss from me.:)
Poor guy.
All he wanted to do was go explore and he gets arrested! :p

That's always a bad feeling when your dog gets loose. Thankfully he did not get hbc or bbbd etc.(hit by car or bit by bigger dog)
Glad your dog made it home safely.

Wow, I am glad your doggie is okay and "only" landed in jail. My friend's neighbor's dog hung himself on his cable. Needless to say, I am not a big fan of those cables and having the dogs run on them without supervision.

I am glad she is home safely.
