Mom's getting fit!! Jan 24

Ahhh! NO rain today! We got to go for a long run, the kids were both good. What a miracle. Then we sat in teh backyard for four hours digging in the dirt. John has been suspiciously quiet and good today, lots of sleep. We got new probiotics for him and it stopped his tummy problems. he has been a nightmare lately. so today is a treat. I also did imax2 while the kids were quiet. Hooray! I wanted to try Jari Loves Get Extremely Ripped 1000, but will do it tomorrow.
It is very weird to have my period already! It took so long last time, because I was pumping. At least now I know why I felt so lousy! I had to move my OB 6 week appt though, because I am sure she does not want to check there right now! Sorry TMI!

Mmmm, making turkey meatballs and spaghetti for dinner. So excited!
Tomorrow Jimmy has swim lessons, I think we will run there and play soccer at the park after. YEsterday was his cooking class. It was so fun. HE made his own spaghetti from scratch. Cracked his own eggs, made dough adn ran it through the pasta press. Then we cooked it and ate it. Next week is cookies. Off to take Jimmy for a bike ride. I am nervous that sleepy john will party all night. Yikes...
 
Hey ladies! Was busy at work today and never really got a chance to check in. No, didn't try out the running shoes yet. Still feeling congested but MUCH better. This is probably the shortest cold I have had yet. I might try running Friday. I would tomorrow but we have a function at work and I won't be home til after 8pm.

Christine- Sorry about AF. I dread her arrival here. Some mommies that I know that are BF already have seen her return too. I guess everyone's bodies are different. Yay for good kids! I bet you were on cloud nine! That is really cool that Jimmy is in a cooking class. What a great learning experience for him!

Melanie- You are really taking control of your weight loss and kicking butt! That's great that you are seeing the scale move again! And see, I told you that your hips are shrinking! I wish I would've taken measurements.

I'm beat, but the girls are both fireballs tonight!! I actually got my "walk" in early tonight...b/c it soothed Myranda to sleep.......the non-ending whining/crying can really wear me down.

My joints are sore....I'm going to have to take a stretch or strength training day tomorrow. I'm thinking of low impact circuit, or the new circuit one (forget name). I should do stretch max.....keep telling myself...but never gets into my dvd player! I could just take the AM off & soak in the hot tub for awhile. LOL

Christine~ sounds like you had a serene day. You deserve it!

Jen~ Ya for short cold virus! And James hasn't gotten it!!! Yeah!

Susan~ you're quiet today, hope your getting some rest!

Tomorrow marks 2 week mark before I go back to work. YIKES!

Morning Ladies!
Much better night for me. Kara only got up one time..so I am feeling MUCH better today!

Melanie-I did get a short (15 min) nap in yesterday! And yes, I did have my smootie..yum. I used blackberries...today Im using strawberries and banana. Im thinking I want to try and peanut butter smoothie of some kind...your fav I know!! I ended up iwth 12 pf's yesterday. Sorry you had a rough evening. For the first few weeks Kara was like that for 2 hours before bed. Surely the girls will outgrow it soon. A hot soak sounds great! We need another Imax day soon.


Christine-how did John sleep last night after his good naps?? The weather here has been really sunny and it really helps with my mood...now its going to rain for 3 or 4 days straight..YUCK!

Jen-hopefully you can workout today! Have a good day at work.

Good morning ladies!

I got over 7 hrs of sleep last night, but I'm feeling sore & sluggish today....so I"m going to skip my AM workout and cuddle w/kiddos instead. Maybe take a nap? I've been taking ibuprofen every 8 hrs around the clock to help with all the aches associated w/2 workouts/day. :D

I will plan on a walk w/baby on elliptical tonight.

Scale is the same. :) Which I"m content with...although it'd be great to lose another 3 lbs real soon. ;)

Susan, peanut butter? Now why in the world would you want to ruin a good thing by putting that gunk in there? lol
 
I decided on Cardio Kicks this morning. It was fun. Kara got up when I was 1/2 through..burped and went back to sleep.....then woke up in the last 5 min..burped, spit up and zonked back out. I'll be gald when reflux is gone!

Melanie..does prilosec help reflux in infants. My mom works for a Gastrointerologist...they don't see infants of course...but they say as long as baby is happy, fat etc they wont give an rx. It doesnt seem to bother Kara and she is happy as can be..sooo i gues I just wait it out uh. Sounds you like need a rest today!! You deserve it.

Susan, they do use prilosec in babies...but it's compounded in the pharmacy (so you'd need a prescription & a pharmacy willing to make it). Usually the try Zantac first (tastes awful). It's usually reserved for babies that are not gaining weight, or is fussy all the time. At least one of my boys needed it....it didn't DECREASE spit ups, just made it "less acidic" in the smell of the spit ups & made him a little less fussy.

Yes, my body needs a day off extreme intensity. I might do Travel Fit later, or a different band workout....and I will definitely walk with bambino later. I'm up for an Imax this week. I'd like to do Imax1---it's been a LONG time since I've done that one. I also want to do a circuit this week.

I was naughty & had a Mountain Dew today. Just one. It was pretty tasty. It's hard to believe each of those are 170 calories each!!! Wow!!! Empty calories, that's for sure!

So....I'm going to do chores today, with my 10lb vest & shape ups on....so if anything else, I'll get a little 'jump' on my calories!!!

Susan- What's the difference between reflux and normal spit up? I thought babies were fussy when they had reflux? Yay for getting a workout complete!

Melanie- Cuddle time with the kiddos sounds wonderful and probably much needed. Remember, your body will only change when you rest.

Not a whole lot here...at work and just hoping this long day goes by quick. We are having a "10th birthday" party for our facility (Children's Advocacy center) and have been decorating all day by coloring "star children" and hanging them to show how many kids have (unfortunately) come through our doors since 1999. Coloring is only fun for awhile....

real quick, happy day was just one day, back to fussy. susan- i took john to the doctor to get meds for reflux, like zantac or prilosec, and she advised not to. the reason being it does change the acidity of the stomach, leading a child to be more prone to pneumonia. she asked me if i wanted a baby with lots of spit up and fussy or one with pneumonia. sadly, we left with the spit up option. i am with you sister. bbl.

Jen-babies can be fussy or not fussy with reflux. I am lucky that she is so happy. Her esophogus is just not mature....it peaks around 4 months..then tapers off...so they say! She spits over 30 times a day..that is just what I counted one day.
Christine-thanks! My dr said the main problem I have is laundry! If K is happy and gaining weight there is not much I can do.

So, yesterday was a slight pipe dream on mellow. I think John is sweet every now and then to make sure we do not throw him out in the trash. Today was a train wreck adn I have to laugh about it. I got the kids in teh jogger, to run to Jimmy's swim lesson (about 4 miles away), then to run to daddy's work and home again. John screamed the whoel way. We tried it all. I just figured that I cannot calm him down in my arms, so let's at least get exercise adn fresh air. Got home and Jimmy was a train wreck too. We are a tired house. So I piled all three of us in the bed and we snoozed for a few hours. Pure Bliss.
My sister called and told me she bought insanity adn is returnign it. It made me feel great because she told me that she is amazed at teh fitness it takes to accomplish it and she was proud of me. I have a lousy family, so it was a heck of a compliment. SO, I took off my new Avia Shape up shoes and did a DVD while John napped and Jimmy played in teh yard. I feel so much better.
But, I was a piggy at dessert. Oh well. Off to bathe the family .
Mel- I had a body shut down last week. I was aching in my knees and hips and felt exhausted. a few days of motrin and rest and a few extra caloies will help. I also took a vicodin one night and got 7 hours sleep. I could have cured cancer after that rest.

Christine~ sounds like you got some much needed rest & exercise to boot! Kudos to you!! Do you run with your Shape ups on? I am 12 weeks from 1/2 marathon....and am "officially training" for the race day! It's April 17th in St Cloud, Minnesota. It's sponsered by the Uniersity where I got my undergraduate degree...so it'll bring back some fun memories! I'm hoping to get a few good outdoor runs in before the raceday, otherwise I'll be elliptical training for most of it. *YIKES* Thanks for sharing your achy body story with me---I have to listen to my body & it was telling me to rest! I've only taken 2 days off all month, so I had to allow myself the break!

Just finished my 4 mile walk with Marvelous Myranda. Felt great, but now I'm wide awake & hoping I'll be ready to sleep by midnight!

Today's Menu:

1/B: 2 eggs, meatloaf
1/S: trailmix, diet pop
3/L: turkey, spinish, cheese, mustard, diet pop
5/S: smoothie (spinish, raspberries, protein powder, milk, ice cubes), trail mix
3/D: chicken breast, salsa, whole wheat low carb tortilla, california veggies
2/S: chocolate milk, cashews

Total Powerfoods: 15 ---I shoulda drank more milk!!!

So.......who's up for Imax tomorrow? I know it's short notice.....but I'm going to do Imax 1 :)

BTW Susan, we all doubt that you easily give up on your workouts when things don't go pefectly. LOL Your just as bullheaded as the rest of us! LOL

I'm up a lb from yesterday. :( Never fails....I have a 'lighter' day (no AM workout & drank a Mt Dew)....and I gain. Oh well, it's just one pound. I figure if I gain it back that quickly....than I must not have truely "lost" it yet, ya know what I mean?

So, DH has "an opportunity to go fishing today". LOL He's so funny. Doesn't the man have "an opportunity" everyday? He always presents it to me in a way like it's something "new" or "once in a lifetime" opportunity. I worry that he hasn't been home much & it's going to be a BIG change when I go back to work b/c he hasn't had "much practice". *sigh*

Okay, I"m off to do imax 1!!!!

Sure I will post my menu..its pretty boring..I have pretty much the same thing everyday..lol..but I am making a new brocolli soup today! And don't fret about that pound. Your body is making milk etc and that pound is probably just fluid. You need a mountain dew every once and a while..you deserve it!

I need more veggies. Eating really good these past fews day has made me feel so much better..more energy etc!

I saw this breakfast yesterday...ww tortilla with apple and cheese....you make it like a quesidillia...gonna have that tomorrow!

I did PUB/LB combo today..felt great!!! Kara of course woke up to burp 20 min into to..but went right back to sleep. She is the sweetest thing ever..I am in love with her! I am so lucky to have such sweet girls! Haley is home today so we will probably bake some cookies or something..uh oh!!!!
 
Susan~Thanks for sharing your menu. Black coffee, eh? Ewww. LOL I've been using Coffee Mate (Abs Diet says non-dairy creamers are "no nos"....why?) along with flavored syrups (sweetened with splenda). You like veggies, don't you Susan? Remember spinich is a power food! LOL You can put a few leaves in a smoothie & not even detect it.

I also feel wonderful on this diet!! I feel so much healthier. I hope I can incorporate it into a lifestyle change rather than a lose your baby gut and that's it diet. :rolleyes:

imax 1 is done. I must be getting stronger, b/c it didn't even seem that hard to me!! YIKES cannot believe I just wrote that!!!

Jen~ feeling good enought to try those new sneakers yet? I'm thinking that mine are close to being toast. I used them to train for my last 1/2 marathon and it must have close to 500 miles on them. They still look brand new. What a shame!

CHRISTINE~ YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!! I got your package today. :D :D :D I cannot wait to figure out my new toy!!! :D :D :D And I LOVE the Sports Illustrated photo thingie of John. LOL How cute!!

Melanie-good job on Imax!! i will to i tomorrow. Yes, I love veggies!! I just get lazy. Have you sauteed spinache with a little butter, garlic then wilt it with white wine....its really good.

That's right, you're having a storm, Susan! We had a snow day on Monday....the week went by really fast. It's 30 below here...air temp (without wind chill). LOL It's always cold here though!

I'm not sure if I like wilted spinich? I like spinich in things....like manicotti.

Mel- Glad the package got there so fast, wow! Sorry about the USB port, it is in a pile of cords that I refuse to tackle since we moved. I think you will like it, but your husband will like it more. Wait till he sees how many more calories he burns taking care of babies than fishing! :)
You girls are amazing with your diets. I am not a good dieter, I get too hard core and my teeth and hair will fall out. So I try to make up for it with burning calories... I did my run this morning, was not feeling it, only 5 miles and then I did the Jari Love Extremely Ripped 1000. It was okay, not great. My complaints were that EVERYONE in the video is anorexic and I found it disgusting. It actually made me not want to exercise, they all looked so unhealthy. The workout was fine, nothing special. Burning 1000 calories while doing it is a load of garbage, though. Want to know what the body weight is of the person who determined that. I burned 600 and I added extra weight and the step. So, do not buy it ladies. I might do it a few more times, not sure. THen, it will be off to one of you.
I am making a great dinner. Parmesan roasted broccoli with pine nuts, lemon and basil. As well, chicken cakes (like a crab cake kind of) with a basil horseradish aioli. Mmmm. And I bought some nice wine.
John has been snoozing better. He must be growing. He is so big. I get a little embarassed, because he is huge. I have him in 3-6 month size. my boobs never would have handled it! Nights are okay, some are worse than others. He is colicky adn refluxy at night. I do nto know why they call spit up such a silly name. I still say it is barf. And i am tired of cleaning it up. Especially out of my hair. I cut off four incches last weekend, it was so dry and brittle from all teh sunshine in southern california. IT is nice to be out of hte heat. My skin is so much better since we moved. Thank goodness. I got one of the clarisonic fave cleaning tools and like it. IT was my treat to myself. I have noted that my hubby and son use it when they are in the shower now. My little metrosexuals!
Off to play cars, fold laundry, vacuum and mop and then prep dinner!!!
Oh and mel, no I would not run in shape ups. Too easy to roll an ankle. I got the Avia ones and have noticed a difference in my thighs and abs in just a few days. For running shoes, I get new ones every 300 miles. I say that it is easier and cheaper to get new shoes than new knees! Whenever my knees ache, I know it is time to get a new pair. There was a good article in this month's fitness magazine about training for a half marathon indoors in the winter on ellipticals and other cardio outlets. You will be fine.
And susan- you are not one to abandon a workout. Who nurses and burps in the middle and hits it again? You do!

We are going on a 10 mile run with the kids tomorrow and then swimming at the community center in the covered heated pool. We are trying to tire the kids out so that we can just have a beer and watch a movie and feel mildly normal.

Its a ghost town here today! We are iced in and just hanging out. I just made some really good new soup "brocolli chowder"..yum!
Kara gave me a 9 hour gift last night! I am feeling good.
I di KPC this morning...just wasnt in the imax mood.

Haley's 10 birthday is tomorrow. She wants to go eat at Olive Garden for lunch. My mom is coming also. Dh leaves for Vegas on Tuesday for a concrete convention..fun uh. Im glad my mom will be here while he is gone. I really count on him at night to help out with Kara while I get stuff done.
