Mom's getting fit!! Jan 24

I think I slept well last night, I feel good this AM. When I eat healthy, I always seem to have more energy.

Susan, you could always make a smoothie withOUT protein powder. I should mail you some of mine to try. It has artifical flavoring, do you care? Let me know...I'm going to post office today.

Christine, I'd love to run with you. You're faster than me though! Maybe if we can find a cheap ticket I could come out there for a quick race? LOL I haven't really worked on stamina much. I know with training for 1/2 marathon it's important to just log in miles....but I don't think they mean my 15 minute miles with baby in bjorn!!! lol

Jen, are you back to work today then?

I think I will do BOSU today. I haven't done it since before I was pregnant...so almost a year. My calves are always really sore afterwards.

GOOD NEW!! I lost a pound!!!

I made it to the triceps in ME when K woke up...grrrr. I'll try and do something else later on
Melanie-thanks a bunch but I won't eat art sweeteners ;)..so nice of you to offer!
Good going on the pound. I havent weighed in a few days..that always means I am scared to!!!
Kara is in my lap squirming and sucking on my arm..I will bbs

question for melanie

Melanie - Since you're the resident twin expert, I have a couple of questions for you.

First, did you purchase a double stroller for your girls? Also, I saw you with a twin sling/carrier...what kind is it? Where did you get it? Do you like it?

Also, do your girls sleep together in a crib at night? We are setting up two cribs for my twins, but I'm sure for the first couple of months I am hoping that they will sleep together in the crib (and not on me like my son did until he was 6 mos old..LOL).

I'm sure I'll have more questions for you, but that's all I can think of right now.

BTW, your girls are beautiful!

Thanks,
Judy

Hi Judy!

I purchased a Snap & Go Twin Stroller for my car seats to pop into, they are about $75 @ amazon.com ---I already had two regular double strollers from my boys that are 22 mos apart (twin Baby Jogger & Macrlean side by side). I thought it'd be more important this time around that I could lug the girls around in their carseats when they were younger...thus the snap & go purchase.

My girls do sleep together. They have two cribs set up in the room, but they are sleeping in a pack-n-play together right now. I will encourage that they sleep together until it's no longer practical.

The twin sling is a weego twin. If you're interested, you can purchase from me when I'm done with it. I've heard that 6 mos is about max for using it...b/c it just gets too heavy. I use it alot, but not as much as I used my bjorn for my singletons.

I hope that helps. Feel free to e-mail me: [email protected] or send me a PM any time. TWINS are awesome! We are having soooo much fun. :D

Afternoon ladies!

Yes Mel, I am back at work. :( I don't feel too bad, just congested but at least everything stopped running. Not very conducive while talking to parents about some pretty serious topics.

Hoping to take my lunch in a few and go pick out some new running shoes. How cute will I look running on a TM in my business/casual wear so they can provide me with the right shoes?? :) The shoe place is close to my job and I only have so much time anymore to get things done. I went and got a pedicure yesterday when DH went to have lunch with the in laws. Was nice....

Hope you get another workout in Susan!

Melanie - Thanks for all the info! I was thinking about getting a snap-n-go twin. Also, I might be interested in the weego. I'm going to do some research on it and see what I think. I will probably be e-mailing or PM'ing you in the future.

Thanks again,
Judy

Got my running shoes on my lunch break and they were on sale!!! They fit like a glove! I can't wait til my head clears a little more so I try them out!

BBL!

Yeah on new shoes, Jen! I LOVE getting new shoes & they are such an inspiration to workout, aren't they?

Susan, were you able to catch up on some zzzzzzz's? How's your diet today?

Judy, no problem on information....I enjoy talking about my twins!

Today's workouts: Double Cardio BOSU workout + 4 mile elliptical

Menu:

B: Chocolate Oatmeal + 4 oz milk
S: Trail Mix
L: Tuna Wrap, swiss cheese, whole wheat low carb tortilla, romaine leaf + diet pop
S: Smoothie
D: Unsure!!!!!
S: Trail Mix + Smoothie

My smoothie's normally make 2 servings. I can make a smoothie in AM & take the second one for later in the day. I prefer mine to be very very cold with ice in it....like a shake. Maybe I could bring some ice cubes to work & Magic Bullet? LOL

Ultimate Trail Mix (from Abs Diet)

1 c whole almonds, 1 c pecan halves, 1/2 c plain oats, cooking spray, 2 Tbsp honey, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 c orange-flavored dried cranberries (Craisins), 1 c dried apricots

HOW TO MAKE IT
Preheat the oven to 350° F. Place the nuts and oats in a bowl and coat lightly with cooking spray (about 3 shots). Drizzle with 1 Tbsp honey and add the cinnamon, stirring to mix. Spread the nuts evenly on a pan and toast for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once they've cooled, stir in the second tablespoon of honey, and mix in the dried fruit.

Divide the trail mix into 1/4 c servings, place each in a ziplock bag, and keep a stash at work or in the car.

Per serving: 170 calories, 3 grams (g) protein, 18 g carbohydrates, 9 g fat (0 g saturated), 3 g fiber, 0 milligrams sodium

Hi!
Kara is Miss No Nap Nellie today!!
Melanei-chocolate oatmeal??? Do you put pro pow in it or what? Sounds like something I would love! Diet today has been ok.......not bad..but not high in powerfoods. I am tired today and my diet suffers when I am tired. Im hoping Kara takes a nap soon so I can rest. Trail mix sounds great!!
What is ur fav smoothie?

Susan, I couldn't think of the name of it......Coco Wheats? I hope you get some sleep.....life is so tough when you're sleep deprived. I hear you on the diet thing too...when I'm tired it's so tempting to just shove stuff in my hole so I can stay awake...whatever it takes!!

Favorite Smoothie? Well......now that I'm putting more fruit into my smoothies I"m enjoying them much much more. Another *bonus* thing I put in is Benefiber. Abs Diet wants you to used instant oatmeal......probably pretty smiliar to the Benefiber, don't you think? I read that someone used that on a forum & I thought it was a good idea.

Well, I'm off to do errands. :)

HI!
Melanie-I'll have to look up coco wheats! Im gonna make myself some sort of smoothie tomorrow! Do you put low fat ice cream, yogurt, or what...do you put oatmeal in yours??
I have blackberries I want to use!
Miss K slept a total of about 20 min today. I just put her in bed, so hopefully shes down for a while. I think she sucked the life out of me today too lol. I think she was in a nursing marathon!

Superfoods for today...hmmmm I think 7 total..not too good! I'll do better tomorrow!

Nite nite waves to everyone. Im hitting the sack!

Okay ladies, did my measurements--I was amazed at the changes in the past month!

lost 10 lbs & 8.5 inches!!!
0.5 inches in arms
4 inches in stomach
2.5 inches in thighs
1.5 inches in hips

Susan, I'd start with
1/4 cup low fat plain (or vanilla) yogurt,
1/4 cup skim milk
1/2 cup fruit
1 tsp of sugar or honey (unless you choose a sweet fruit)
5-7 ice cubes

Adjust to your taste preference.

Thanks Melanie!! I plan to have a smoothie for a snack today. Did you get an elliptcal workout in last night? Get much sleep?
Kara was up again at 2,4,5:30. I am confident that she WILL sleep soon, right??? Its 6:30 now and Im hoping she can make it til 8 when I take Haley to school so I can come home and workout...we'll see.

Fo all our moms... at what age does your ped recommend starting cereal? When I had Haley it was 4 months...with Kara her ped is firm about not starting anything til 6 months...which is fine with me. I was just wondering what others peds say.

Ok, off to get morning chores done. bbs
I WILL EAT CLEAN TODAY!

Susan~
Urgh on the lack of sleep!!! Sounds like Ms Kara is going thru a growing spurt!! Keep eating & drinking fluids to keep that milk supply up, mommy!!

As far as cereal goes....the newest recommendtion is 6 mos on everything! You know it changes every few years or so. LOL But that's what I've been told too. We've always be very conservative on initiating food though...I think we waited this long with all ours.

About the smoothie, after further consideration, I would suggest putting at least two different types of fruit in it. Strawberry & banana is a good option. You said you have some blueberries? Bluberries & banana? or even all three fruits? The more fruits, the sweeter the smoothie!

My scale is down 3 lbs this morning! This diet is agreeing with me! I think I just needed to mix things up. I feel much more satisfied too, with less carbohydrate restriction. :)

Workout today will be: 60 minute of Cardio Coach (I'm thinking CC1 warm up, CC1 Challenges 1-3 & CC2 Challenges 1-3) and later my 4 mile walk

My abs are super sore today from BOSU & Ab work!!

great job on the weight loss, wow! sounds like a fun diet with great foods.
susan- i feel you on no naps and sleep. john has been a wreck. last night he slept better, got up 3 times. i sttarted him on probiotics and it helps with his colic. but not enough!
So, real quick. I got my period this week, heavy flow and cramps. Anyone else know anyone who got it this early? I figure with no BFing this time nad exercise, it case back early?

Christine, sorry about AF. :( Isn't it normal to get it around 6 weeks if you're not nursing? I could be wrong....but you ARE ovulating so WATCH OUT!! LOL How is everyone feeling at your home? Everyone healthy again?

I'm not so naive to think that I will continue losing weight at this pace...or that the 3lbs I lost is permanant. We'll see what the next few days holds. I do "feel" lighter though. I still have 10lbs to go......15 days until my first day back to work. I don't think I'm going to reach my goal. :( Which sucks, b/c I normally always reach my goals b/c I"m so bullheaded!!!:confused:

Melanie, good job losing those pounds. I'm tracking my weight loss and I've noticed that I lose weight in spurs. I may lose two pounds one week and then nothing the next and two pounds the week after, instead of losing weight consistenly every week. As long as the scale tips in right direction is all good. BTW, I tried the trail mix last night. I added a 3rd tbsp of honey though, for some reason I kept on thinking that the I was gonna get a granola bar out of it, silly me. Anyways, I loved and actually brought some today for a quick snack at my job. Thanks for the recipe!

Christine, I haven't gotten my period yet, I'm not sure what's normal but I do know that you tend to getter later when breasfeeding

Susan, I haven't asked our pedi but he's would like me to breastfeed for the 1sr year, not sure about that. I'd be glad if I make it to 6 months. I'll ask about the cereal in a couple of weeks during our next app.

Jen, have you use your new running shoes yet?? Are you feeling any better today?

Well, I did High step trainig last nigth ( alot of modifications though) and I.m patiently waiting for my new Tonique w/o. May do it this weekend

Check back later
