:::Melting on Monday! :::

fox2star

Cathlete
Good Morning!

I did an I-Tread 40 minute workout this am. Up very early again. I am going to be a zombie at work today. It is supposed to get up to 50 degrees here by tomorrow.. What's up with that? It's January for crying out loud LOL.

Lainie:
Such cute pictures! I am sending you hugs and good vibes that the DR will be able to figure out what is going on with you. Sounds like mono to me.

Michele:
I never had a MAc or worked on one so I have no input. I do know that I am not one that likes laptops, give me my old desk top any day! I'm sure you will get used to it shortly. Even my DH has gotten used to his and he is not one that likes change!

TK:
Looking forward to all the pics of your sewing! The Canine Good Citizen title is something that the AKC ( American Kennel Club) sponsors. Dogs are tested for their behavior in crowds, with strangers, with other dogs, etc. If they pass, they get a certificate from the AKC. It is a part of the testing we do for Therapy Dogs as well, however, the Therapy dog testing is a little more intense, as these dogs go to nursing homes, schools etc.

Have a great day!

Deb

Morning Deb. It's supposed to be warm here today too. I think I'll do some roadwork on my bike this afternoon. Otherwise, the only thing I have planned is some ab work.

Hi to all melty ones who follow. I'll try to get back later to chat.

Hi Melters-

Deb- It is a good day to pump as and not freeze! LOL

Hi Robin- I hope you enjoy your road biking and abs. I have become a BOSU convert for abs and after every session of abs on the BOSU , my abs have major DOMS.

Today is a 7 mile outdoor run. I hope there are no dogs around x(

Dinner tonight is pan seared scallops over spinach salad probably with home made whole grain croutons or or whole grain garlic toast.

Happy Monday, Melters... is anyone actually happy that it's Monday? :p

Deb - we've got you beat on warm weather. It's already 66 here and will get into the 70s. Major thunderstorms moving in tonight. It should be fun. NOT!

Robin - enjoy that bike ride! Does biking bother your knee at all? I hope not. When is the doctor's appointment?

Judy - gosh, can I move in with you? ;) Your meals always sound so elegant and good! Good luck with a dogless run!

Let's see. I experimented with one little inch-cube of cheese last night. I sliced it up really thin and put it on some 8-grain bread with garlic and then microwaved it for a few seconds. It was pretty good! So, there's a survival method for less cheese. ;)

I did really well all day... and then I got really hungry right before bed. Dang. That's what happens when I eat early on weekends, because I'm so used to eating late during the week. And the only thing I could think of that would tide me over through the night was peanut butter toast. Very, very good... but high fat. Well, I simply need to remind myself of two things: 1) I'm not overweight, and any weight loss is just "vanity" for me and 2) Robin has the right attitude. Oh yeah, and 3)PB also has lots of nice B vitamins and protein. :7

I'll see you Melters later!

Hi everyone. I'm still so sick and horribly sleepy. I can't believe how hard it is just to type; I'm so sleepy.

The boys are off to school and I have a doctor's appointment at 9:45, so I should be done in plenty of time before I pick up Ewan at 11:30. Hopefully I will even have time to go get any necessary prescriptions.

Today I hope to start my 4DS rotation with HIS, but we'll see how I feel this afternoon. I really don't want to put off starting this rotation, which I've really been looking forward to, but I feel pretty nasty right now. x(

Deb, it's supposed to get up to 66 degrees here tomorrow! I do remember a day in January last year when it got up to 70. Lucky for me it was the day I took the kids to the Central Park Zoo while Brian worked in his midtown Manhattan office. It was probably the perfect day to be at Central Park as it's not the busiest time of year but the weather was amazing.

Robin, good morning, and enjoy biking today.

Judy, I like to use the Bosu for abs, too. I also find it nice and comfy to lean against for abs, though very challenging.

Shannon, I for one am happy it's Monday because my kids are off to school and DH is traveling today. ;) I do miss him when he's gone but the first couple days are a nice little break and having the house more to myself after the boys go to bed.

Uh oh--gotta run see the doctor--wish me luck.

Hey girls~

I'm not fit for human consumption today, but I just wanted to send Lainie good doctor visit wishes.

I won't likely be back.

Mornin' Melters!

I started the week off right with HIS/LIS Double Cardio. I love that workout - so fun! I have some leg DOMS today from doing MM yesterday. I love DOMS!

Deb, I hope you're not too zombie-like today :)

Judy, would you mind if I moved in with you too? I'm sure Shannon and I won't be too much of a burden. ;) Your food just always sounds so yummy! :9

Lainie, I sure hope you feel better soon!!!

Michele, I didn't read any of the threads from the weekend, but I'm gathering from Deb's post that you got a new Mac laptop and are having problems??? PM or email me if you need help. I *heart* my Mac laptop! :D

I need to skedaddle, so sorry I can't do more personals right now.

Oh My.....
I meant pumping Gas not, as...... in my comment to Deb above.

I just finished my run and popped in for a minute

Lanie- I have you in my thoughts and prayers!

Emily and Shannon, i think it would be more fun to cook for you than crabby teenagers. You are welcome any time!

I'm back from the doctor. Apparently he doesn't think I look too bad--throat doesn't look too bad, chest is clear, etc. So I just feel like crap from some random virus, probably. He wants me to get blood tests done (mainly because of the fatigue) but I have to fast first, so I couldn't do it today. I think I'll do that on Wednesday so I can go when Ewan is in school again.

I'm going to copy this on to the OD thread as well since I'd talked about being sick there.

Sometimes I wish I could go to Dr. House and he could make me all better. Except I'd probably have to go blind and cough blood and bleed from all my other orifices first or something.

OK guys, I'm joining you in hopes you'll inspire me to lose 10 pounds quickly!!! The holidays KILLED me. But today is a new day. I haven't eaten yet today (busy back-to-school day), but I'm hoping for a clean eating day. I got up early and did CoreMax and StretchMax as a precursor to ballet class tonight (which is 90 minutes).

Thanks for letting me join in. I've been meaning to join you guys for awhile, but I lost a lot of motivation until recently. Any tips you guys have to offer me on what has worked best for you on dropping pounds (healthily, of course), would be GREATLY appreciated!! :)

G'mornin' Monday Melter's!

This post comes to you from...my lovely desk top PC ;) . No, I haven't returned the MacBook, yet, but I'm leaning that way. I'm one of maybe 5 people on the planet who cries when her DH buys her a MacBook Pro -- lol!

Okay -- I guess I better stop complaining about my computer and start using this check-in for it's intended purpose! I didn't work out at all this weekend, but I'm continuing my weight loss rotation this morning with a renewed spirit. I'll be doing PS CST and a 30 minute cardio.

My diet was wretched yesterday  . To compensate, I'm making a pot of Tuscan white bean soup and a big salad. I had a poached egg with fabulous **bakery made sprouted grain bread**! I cannot believe it, but my grocery store introduced store made (they have the best in-store bakery east of the Mississippi!) sprouted grain bread and it's tender and moist, unlike the frozen stuff from Food For Life that has the texture of corrugated cardboard.

Deb - I'm sending powerful energy spiking vibes your way ~~~~~. The Canine Good Citizen program sounds like fun. Yeah, I don't think a laptop is right for me. For all my complaining of the past couple of weeks, I feel so happy sitting here at my desktop computer :p

Robin - I saw where you ended up doing a CC workout. I think I'm going to do the same one this morning. How's the knee doing? Has taking a break from step eased the discomfort?

Judy - Can I come to dinner, too? I agree with everyone that your menu always sounds so wonderful. I'm sending vibes your way for an excellent run in a dog free zone :)

Cuz - Your cheese experiment sounds awesome!! I do stuff like that all the time. And don't forget that the fat in PB is good fer ya! We must be on the same wavelength because I had PB toast for a bedtime snack 2 nights in a row last week ;)

Lainie - I'm so glad you have an appointment with the doctor this morning. Please let us know what s/he has to say. As for your workouts - just stick with light and short workouts until you feel better. **I just saw your post appointment post -- I'm glad he's getting blood work. I wonder if you have mono? What's he testing for -- do you know?

{{{{{Shelley}}}}} - Feel better soon, K?

Evily - ^^^5's on your workouts!! I just might take you up on your offer for MacBook help. I'm not lovin' it and I'm wondering if I should just stick with a desktop model. I'll email you later -- thanks for offering to help!

TK - That quilt idea for your mom is so lovely and sentimental. She'll flip over it!! I'm just so darn jealous of you women with talent!

Stephanie - Welcome!! The more the merrier! I don't have any tips for you, but I'll be anxious to see what the other's have to say. ^^^5's for your workouts today -- it looks like you're starting off this Monday on the right foot!

Hello to everyone else. I'm going to dig right into my workouts today. I'm going to make a serious effort to stop procrastinating. I wanna be a doer and not just a thinker-abouter-with-best-intentions :p

Edited to correct typos -- oh Gawd, I hope I got 'em all -- lol!

Mornin Melters:)

Wow, why does today feel like such a "shock?" x( It feels like Sunday to me.
We went to lunch yesterday and listen to this salad I had! it was all chopped up into small pieces too which I love. Greens, white beans, avacodo (why can't I spell that word?) turkey breast, red onion, cheese (just a tiny bit), red lentils (I know, but they were actually good), red onion, asparagus, tomato, and chopped fresh herbs.:9 It was so dang good and didn't even need a dressing. Life was good yesterday, yes it was!:) I didn't really work out yesterday, did 30 minutes on the treadmill only and the bonus burn from this months rotation, today I start with the second week of Jan. rotation.

Deb, I had to laugh at your dogs "good citizen" award. Georgie is very well behaved for the most part. Except for one thing that has just recently become a problem. Every so often he tries "humping" someone! And at 153 pounds, this isn't exactly amusing. Well it kinda is, but its not!! And its random people, apparently, George doesn't have a "type!" What do I do? Besides the obvious "down George?"Its embarassing and unacceptable. Thanks for your input, my vet laughed about it. George is fixed of course, so why this?

Michele, let Emily help with your Mac, it will be so worth it.

Stephanie, welcome! Its a great group here, I think the trick is to concentrate on eating clean foods, yadda, yadda, yadda.:7 But you know that!

TK, you are so crafty, my grandma used to make my sisters and I quilts for Christmas. What a wonderful gift to give your mom, she will cry.:)

Evily, hi there gal! Good to see you again. Double cardio? Sigh. Whatta woman.

Shelley, whats up? Sounds like you are a little blue today ((hugs)) be nice to yourself today.

Robin, hope you hear about your test results today!

Lainie, good you are getting the bloodwork done, I feel so bad for you. It is starting to sound like chronic fatigue or something. Does working out make you feel worse? If so, then gentle walking or something might be better for you until you know what is really going on here.

Judy, seared scallops? You sound like a "Top Chef!"Yummers.

Shannon, I have a snack every night, I eat dinner about 5 or 6 workout and then eat a little something again. I wouldn't feel too bad about it, its the overall caloric intake that counts, and you are at a perfect weight for you, so enjoy that PB toast.

Okay, its about time I get going here. My DH has lost two pounds already, I am so proud of him. He is really trying, I can see the struggle he has with the lack of "not so good foods" in the house, but is doing great!BBL

Edit: Hi to Leanne!!

Hi all!

I just have a moment to check in, but wanted to say hi and happy melting for this first Monday in January! I'm heading out to take a jewelry class, but will try to BBL for personals.

Hope you're all well!:)

Morning melters. This morning starts a new rotation. Since the DOMS had stopped from using Gym Styles it was time to mix it up again. I jumped on the 4DS bandwagon and did Kickbox/Legs. I'm sure later today the 'wobbly legs' will really set in.

Deb: I've wanted to so something like that with my pooch but since it's AKC I guess we're not eligible, well unless there's allowances for the 'Specka' breed (AKA SPCA dog) LOL. We did agility for a while until my work hours started getting longer. She just loved it and it was good exercise for me too!

Judy: Do you have problems with dogs that chase you when you're running? I guess that would be your interval LOL. There used to be a dog that would chase me on my bike. That dog was fast but lucky for me he never caught me. I even got chased by a goose once.

Shannon: Late evening eating gets me too. I've found that if I limit my carb intake at dinner it seems to help with that. YMMV but it's been very helpful for me.

Lainie: I'm thinking of you. Hope the blood work will get to the root of your recent illnesses.

Emily: I read in an earlier post that you need less calories to lose weight. It's the same with me. 1200-1500 calories seems to be the range I need for weight loss. In my case it's thyroid, a sedentary job, and ahem, age. Doesn't it stink when you see others who can eat so much and maintain or even lose? Oh well it is what it is!

Michele: Tuscan white bean soup sounds fabulous. Can you share the recipe? More and more DH is starting to like beans in his soup. He'd never touch them before, but lately he's found that he likes garbanzo beans and also soybeans.

Tneah: You know a salad is good when you don't need any dressing on it. And, uh Georgie's 'problem' isn't limited to boy dogs. Our friends had a spayed female yellow lab that did the same thing. They never could figure that out. Maybe one day Cesar Millan will have a Dog Whisperer episode on that. I'd love to see what he would do to fix that.

Shelley: You don't sound your usual perky self. What's up?

I'm back! What's for lunch everyone? :)

Lainie, I hope your blood work reveals the cause of your fatigue. You've really been having a rough time!

Stephanie, WELCOME to the melters!!! :D We'll keep you on track. Either that, or we'll steer you into insanity. }(

Michele, email me anytime. I hope I can be of some assistance. I have a regular MacBook (for me, the Pro wasn't worth the extra $600 or whatever the price difference was), and have no problems with it. But, I don't have the bifocal issues that you have. Hopefully we can get you liking your Mac!

Tneah, your salad yesterday sounds awesome! I love lentils! I have no advice on your humping doggie, but I'm LOL at the thought of him doing this to random people! :7

Truton, oh it's so nice to know I'm not the only one who has to be in the 1200-1500 calorie range in order to lose weight! It does stink! By the way, your avatar is cracking me up. Is that Jane Fonda??? :7

HI

TK- I was bitten by a German Shepard (or something equally big and mean) on my run on 12/29. Today , I still have a major bruise on my outer hip/thigh area. The dog got a good hold of my leg , but because my running pants were slippery, he only made a small break in the skin. But it still felt as though my leg was in a vice.

Michelle- Good luck with the Lap top.

Lanie- I am glad you will be getting some blood testing done. Do you know what tests are being done?

Is anyone familiar with the Super foods book? I saw it advertised in Runner's World Feb Issue.

Emily: Yes, that's Jane. I made the mistake of telling our little group that back in the day I used to knit my own leg warmers. Then they started calling me 'Jane'. Want a pair of legwarmers?? :D

Hey, TK, I'm first in line for those leg warmers. Get in line, Emily.

Judy, can one more of us move in? At least at mealtimes. My DH got bitten by a dog while running a couple years ago. He was put on an antibiotic, which then caused him to develope a Clostridium difficle infection. If anyone is familiar with this, it causes bloody diarrhae and he was very sick for a long time. It wasn't until a couple years later that we found out the most dog bites are settled out of court for about $5,000. We didn't even get medical bills paid for!

tneah, I love your salad! We meet friends every Sunday evening for pizza and the last couple of weeks, we have been including salad. Just tossed though, nothing as exciting as yours.

Michele and all who asked. My knee is doing better, but I can tell it's not "right." I won't find out what the MRI showed until my appointment on Friday. Biking doesn't cause any discomfort.

Stephanie, welcome to our getting littler group.

Lainie, I'm glad you went to the doctor. What lab tests did he order. CBC? TSH?

Shelley, we can take all the "stuff" you can dump on us. We miss you.

Shannon, I agree that PB is a pretty good choice. I'd never give up my PB. I think I'd give up chocolate first, and you know that will never happen.

Deb, I have a good friend (Sunday pizza buddy) who has a very mannerly greyhound who I think has passed the therapy dog test thingie. She brings him to pizza every Sunday (we meet at my MIL's nursing home) and everyone loves him.

Leanne, have fun!

Well, it was pleasant for my bike ride this afternoon. I got home and did segment one of core max. Tomarrow the weather should be even better. See you then.

Hi all,

I feel so out of the loop since I didn't make it in to say "hi" yesterday and couldn't post more this morning. How are you all doing??

I guess I need to figure out this photo thing so I can post some photos, too, and get an avatar set up. I really hate pictures of myself, but maybe I can find one that doesn't make me want to scream.

Stephanie -- Welcome to the group!

Michele -- How are things go with the new, new computer? I think it really does take time to get used to an entirely new computer system, but I bet you'll really like your new Mac once you get used to it!

Shelley --Your DD is so cute and adorable -- and your back rocks! You have some serious muscles there, girl!

Tneah -- How was brunch yesterday?

Robin -- Glad you had a nice bike ride!

Deb -- Still up early from those little cute puppies of yours?

Lainie -- Did you start your 4DS rotation today? I'm glad you're going back in to do some blood work to get this straightened out. You've been sick for too long! The photos you posted of the boys and you are fabulous. They are so cute, and you look great!

Emily -- Hope your Monday went well!

Shannon -- So glad to hear that you survived without cheese! Of course, life without cheese, chocolate, and ice cream is just a little too spartan all the time, isn't it?!;-)

TK -- Glad that you got the purse finished for your mom. Did you give it to her yet or will it also be for her upcoming b-day (along with the quilt)? I bet she'll it! Way to go on your weight loss, too, Jane!;-)

Judy -- Hope you can give us some more meal ideas soon!

You wouldn't believe how tired I've been today. I had a hard time staying awake before I finally got Ewan down for a nap--then I napped while he napped. Then the boys watched some TV while I lay on the couch and half-napped some more after Isaac got home. I managed to drag myself up and fix us a simple dinner, then get them to bed. Now I'm planning on going to bed early. Needless to say I didn't work out today.

Stephanie, welcome to the check-in--it's a fun group.

Michele, I am pretty sure I can't have mono because I've already had that before so I don't think I can get it again. It does remind me of it, though.

Tneah, how do you get your DH to lose weight--just limit his choices around the house? I bet if I met Georgie he would try that humping on me--I am one of those people who dogs love to hump, for some reason. Maybe I smell good to a dog. That doesn't sound good, though, does it?

TK, so are you starting a 4DS rotation like Leanne and me?

Emily, I have a MacBook, too, and I love it!

Judy & Robin, here are the tests the doc ordered for me (if it means anything to you):
Comp Metabolic Panel
Lipid Panel w/ reflex Dir LDL
CBC w/ DIFF
TSH
Anybody know what that stuff is? I have a friend who used to work as a hematologist so maybe I'll ask her about it tomorrow.

Leanne, I'm sorry--I didn't start the 4DS rotation as planned today. ;( I figure if I'm up to it tomorrow I can bump it all forward a day and just cut out the extra cardio or the yoga--or do the yoga and cardio on the same day or something. The nice thing about the 4DS is it is easy to fiddle with the arrangements, I think.

OK, sleepy me is going to get ready for bed soon. I am tempted to try to go to bed without cold meds and see if it makes me less tired or not. The main issue tonight is a headache and sore throat so maybe I'll just take some Tylenol and take water upstairs with me.
