Okay, hopefully someone can help.

A lot of the times I do a lot of cardio my nose runs and runs - is this normal?

Also, during some circuit workouts my ear may clog up.

Not sure if this is normal or ??

TIA for any help!!

I'm right there with you! My nose runs like crazy when I work out and especially with cardio. I have a box of tissues beside the DVD player and at the end of most combos or segments I blow my nose and take a drink of water. The only time my ears clog up is sometimes when I'm on my back doing abs, tricep or chest work and sweat will trickle into my ear, I just turn my head to the side for a few seconds. It is most definitely normal for your nose to run if every thing running is clear and there is no pain involved. I figure it's a good thing to keep all those body fluids moving!

My nose runs a lot too when doing cardio... sometimes is doesn't though. I'd be curious as to why this happens. Maybe I'll do Googe search on it sometime this week.
As for my ears, never had that problem.
If you hear anything as to why this happens, kept me posted if you don't mind, I'll do the same.

Thanks!

It is very normal to have your nose run while doing cardio. I, also, keep a box of kleenex next to my TV/DVD/VCR player.

I have had quite a few sinus infections over the years and I remember telling my nose/throat/ear specialist how when I would workout my sinus's would unclog and clear up my congestion. He said aerobics always clears one out - he also suggested I just do cardio all day on se days that I was totally clogged up on. HA-HA!

Everytime I spar during my martial arts classes, I always get a runny nose, too. It can be very annoying!

I don't have the ear problem. But I do have allergies so my nose does run sometimes doing cardio. I use one of the many small white towels I have for that reason. Towels feel softer than tissue and I wash then after each use!...

It's not as icky as I was imagining from the title!!

My nose will run sometimes when I workout. I think it's just sinus congestion that's clearing out. Seems like a good thing to me (though a bit messy).

The ears and sinuses are very closly linked, so sinus congestion can present itself as plugged ears.

Like some of the other gals - I keep a box of tissues by my TV/DVD player as well. I also have problems with my ears and do think it is when I lay down or am bending down / moving around and sweat gets in my ears - VERY annoying. No special help - other than if I am sweating and have to lay down - I make sure to have a towel there to wipe anything up before it gets in my ears.

I don't usually have this problem...but just wanted to let all of you gals know there is a short blurb about this phenomenon in Health magazine this month...since I don't really have the problem I don't remember what it said...but you may want to look it up there!

My nose runs as well! I don't recall stuffiness, but some moves can give one gas. (Sorry not trying to be grouse). Glad I workout by myself.

My noise runs a little when I do cardio but my ears always clog up sometimes even when I'm lifting weights. It gives everything that far away sound and I press on them alot trying to get them to pop so I can cathe without having to turn the tv up yet again...lol.
I think like everyone said its pretty normal but I'm not sure why it happens. I hope JenL13 will post what she finds if she does do that google search and I might look up that article as well...

You are NOT alone!

Not only does my nose run, but my ears clog up occasionally as well.

I agree with everyone else that you are just clearing your sinuses out - which is a good thing!

I'm not sure about the ear thing though. I have noticed that for me it only happens when I overexert myself especially with a very hard cardio session that pushes me past my limit. And sometimes it doesn't go away for a few hours and it sounds like I'm talking in a box! That drives me insane.

Hope that gives you some comfort because I don't think either is harmful for you.
