RE: Master Cleanser Journal (DO NOT read if easily gros...
One thing we all need to remember (or learn if you have never heard this before) is that when searching the internet for health information, we always need to scroll to the bottom of the page and see a little blue and red box that says "HON CODE" which means "Health on the Net Foundation". These sites are reputable and their information has all been scientifically proven.
The first site that Pixie9 posted,
www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Atoz/dc/caz/canc/colc/alert08162005.jsp does have this ranking. It is a reputable site. I would trust what it says.
Allopathic medical doctors (MDs) do not advocate colon cleansing. We need bacteria in our colons in order to properly breakdown and absorb nutrients. Even if you don't trust MDs, you could always apply the principle to a new fad: What did people do before modern medicine came about? Well, they didn't cleanse their colons.
Why are we overweight as a society now? Well, before industry, people had to grow their own food...they expended calories to make the food and then ate it...not too much excess this way. Now we just go to a grocery store and then eat it. Way too much excess there!
If one is concerned about their colon, increase your fiber intake and drink lots of water (drinking salt water is not good for you...really upsets electrolyte balance, etc) This will flush your colon the natural way. And always, as is advocated on Cathe's site, eat clean.
By the way, I also do not advocate Adkins...can destroy the kidneys.

Edited to say this: If you have been out of the country or eated undercooked meat, etc, and you are afraid you have gotten a parasitic infection in your gastrointestinal system, let your doctor know. He/she can do a simple fecal test (may take more than 1 sample) and see some parasitic material in the feces. Then the doctor can prescribe the proper anti-parasite medication to target that infestation. It is not healthy to just simply periodically ingest anti-parasite medication "just in case".
