Make your own mini step

Hello,

Has anyone considered making their own mini step? I just realised it might be really simple to make one. You just take one of the risers, cut out a square piece of wood that would fit over the hollow bit and stick it down with some super glue or something that will fix the item in place. If you want to make it more comfortable then cover the wooden board with soft padding before gluing it down. Or cut out a rubber mat and stick it on top (you can buy one of those really cheap rubber mats and cut it out).

I think it's pretty good. Here in the UK, if you can get to a B&Q then ask them to cut a wooden board down to size for you.

After that, you just place it on top of the other risers and use it like Cathe.

Unfortunately, I am not sure if the mini step will be available in the UK in the near future, so it looks like we have to make do with a home made one.

You will be one riser short however.

My husband made mine out of plywood 3 years ago when I was doing just the Firm. Basically it's a box. The top is 17 inches square with the sides being 13.25 inches high (with the thickness of the top brings the total height to 14 inches). The sides are all screwed together & the top is screwed to the top of the sides. It is very stable but very heavy. I'll try to write up better directions & post them if anyone is interested. It cost about $15 (I guess that's probably about 10 pounds stirling) to make.

I'm ready to take the next step! http://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/Smilies_klein_1/a_smil09.gif

I actually just bought a step from someone online, platform only, for only $25 which included the shipping. My husband is going to make me the topper out of that.

Hi Yen,
My DH made me one about a year ago out of wood. I can adjust it to 3 different heights. He put a piece of carpet on the top. It works great. It is kind of heavy but I feel like that is just a bonus-work my arm muscles a little bit more.

Erin who posts on this forum has instructions on how to make a mini topper. You need a step that you are willing to cut up to make it just like Cathe's in the PS Series and the new videos. Maybe someone else knows the link to the instructions web page. I do not remember it.

Or just get those rubbermade stool/tool boxes. I bought a blue one and it's 14 inches tall. I used to use it for Firm leg presses and it is wide and stable and I can store my ankle weights in it. I sit on it for sit n stands and seated upper body work.
