Lurker's Invitation

Do some of the 1RM exercise repeat? Some of the exercises seem pretty repetitive. Shadowpup did you say you only did the ones with 3 or more stars? I hope to get pretty close to finished tomorrow so I am previewing some of the videos tonight and it seems like I already did some of them before? Am I dreammng? The numbers are different..

Hello -

I went around and photographed all my Christmas decorations - I started to worry  that these photos don't really show the extent of my decorating - I tried to get as much in a shot that I could. I'm just really silly. But it also showed me one other thing - I could always use more stuff!!!! I also took a shot of my weight rack and power tower  actually like how they turned out. So all I have to do now is download all those pics and get those on here. I'll try to do that next week. I figured I should take the pictures now since I will start to deconstruct very soon. I'm starting to feel like I'm approaching an expiration date on Christmas. I didn't take any pictures of the outside - I will do that tonight.

After the picture taking - and since it took me a long long long long long time to get home because of traffic and snow - by the time I went to go exercise it was 11pm.:( But I was tempted by the other workouts on Christi Taylor's "Terrific Trio." So the step one was called "Stepping Zone" (the one I had done the day before) and the strength one is called "Balance, Strength and Flexibility" - I did that one. Really odd odd odd workout - I thought perhaps it was showing its age. We laid down on the floor - and I was getting really drowsy - I think I might of nodded off. There was a terrible editing mistake in it and Christi decided not to exercise with us but to walk around & talk & instruct that way. I'm not fond of that - I want my instructor to work out too!!! I don't want to give the impression that I didn't like this - or that it wasn't good - only that it was different and perhaps an alternative to traditional strength training. I would like to go on VF and read some reviews.

Laura - Ok - I'll look you up on SparkPeople. My name on it is KariAnderson - funny, I know - I hope no one actually thinks I'm "the" Kari Anderson or that my name is Kari. It was probably not a good choice but I was at a loss and I began to wonder if that was used too since all my other choices weren't working out. Plus - I kind of get a kick out of being Kari Anderson in a small way - I know - I'm just too silly. When I was testing 1RM - my plan was only to do the 3 and 4 star exercises - I believe a lot of people did that too and that gets most of everything - and then you should be fine. I know what you mean about being home alone in the house - it creeps me out too!!! We have to give some more thought to a new name - I think we should all come up with choices and then we can all vote on it.

Janie - I'm thinking about you.

Hello to Shadowpup and Michelle!!!

Hi everyone--boy going back to work has me a bit off my posting schedule. Oh well. Yesterday was supposed to be a cardio day but I did the first stretch routine from strecth max instead. Today I did athletic step (again) and the medicine ball abs from STS ab circuits. That is a tough ab workout.

Laura: I think on the bicep 1RM that you asked about, I did the 7 reps half way up, 7 reps half-way down, and then 7 reps all the way up and down just like Cathe does in the exercise. Sister and I weren't sure either.

Okay--I've got to run to get ready to go to Quantico (didn't realize the time). I'll be back later.

Janie: Boy, you sure are having a rough patch. Don't feel bad about venting--that is what we are here for. I'm glad that your family was able to come to resolution on honoring your mom's wishes. It's got to be hard to accept and I think it just takes longer for some to come to terms with the decision that has already been made. Still--this will be so hard. This is your mommy. You take all the time you need to share and feel right here. Big (((((HUGS))))) to you. I will keep you, your family, and your mom in my prayers. God bless.

Shoegal: well, we had the kind of snow here last night that I like best, here in the morning, gone by the afternoon. And yeah, the holidays are over. Once you go back to work, it just seems to fizzle. I'll take my tree down tomorrow and that will be that.

Names for our group: we do all love our 4-legged friends and there must be something catchy we can come up with. Right now all I've got to suggest is a phrase inspired by Ripken: Getting our Licks In. I'll keep thinking about it.

Hi all, just got in - and am I tired! But, it was a productive week. I was able to get my workouts in also, though I decided to add in a lighter day, doing a Qi Gong dvd someone gave me awhile back. Besides that, could not resist doing Cathe 4DS kickbox and P90X Kenpo X; it was the kind of week where a little kickbox was definitely in order ...

Now I need to catch up on what everyone is doing! First, though, dinner and possibly a nap :)

...if they all decide to let her go naturally, then I will take a plane back to Seattle as soon as I can, connect to Winatche Airport and rent a car to get to Tonaskit, where my Mom is. All her children will be around her with love and respect and prayers, so she won't be alone when she passes. This is so sad!

Janie, so many thoughts here ... sincerely, please believe that we're here for you, just as you have been here for us. When venting helps, vent away! That is not going to send us away from this thread. You are going through a sequence of hard knocks. Do you realize that seeing you work your way through from tears to anger to your positive self is inspiring? That it shows life's challenges really can be met with a courageous spirit? We will all need this in our lives, and I know for me it will be a strengthener to think about how you are handling your challenges.

About your mother, I am so very sorry. We lost my grandfather to Alzheimers, and it is a cruel disease. Your note said you all agreed to let your mom go naturally. The disease is sad, but having all of you around will ease her passing. ((hugs)) is all else I can think to say.

Hi Laura,

Yes, I did only the ones with three or more stars ... even the first time, and this time through, I skipped a few that were too similar to others. For instance, my weight on doing the squat family (the narrow squat and wide squat), the deadlift family (dumbbell, barbell, straight legged, platform versions of the deadlift), and the overhead press family (one arm, two arm, sitting, standing) all test out very close, within a pound or so. On meso 1, I put in the highest weight (for me it is the wide squat, the straight legged deadlift, and one arm seated press) and used that for my predictions. Then, while I'm doing the dvd, I am throwing in an extra rep if I have extra energy and readjusting my predicted 1RM after each disk. And if I really can't squeak out the full reps, I readjust there also.

What I found is that my tiredness when starting an exercise made far more difference in what I can actually do on a give day for say, deadlifts, than whether it was a narrow, wide, straight legged etc.

How are your 1RMs going?

Well, I never got back yesterday after my meeting--go figure, huh?

This morning the thermometer was at a balmy 30 degrees and there was no wind, so Ripken and I did our "normal" 2 mile walk this morning. We haven't done that since December 18th--the day before we got our huge dump of snow. Thankfully, the snow is just about gone except for the remnants of the huge piles left from shoveling and plowing. It felt really great to be out in the neighborhood at large again. Ripken was very happy because quite frankly he was getting tired of the sniffs in our Circle. Laura, obviously Ripken and Maggie feel the same about their walkabouts.

After our walk, I did STS disc 3 this morning. Man oh man oh man--what is it about Cathe and leg exercises, anyway? This first disc doesn't have alot of exercises with weights--ha! She still works you hard. The paper plate exercises are a real challenge, that is for sure. Since I exercise on carpet, a paper plate doesn't really slide. So, as a substitute I used the box from my Lean Cuisine lunch yesterday. It has a glossy slippery exterior and it worked great. Even better--I didn't have to spend any additional money.

~michelle

Michelle, I did STS M1W1D3 right before heading out on travel ... and wowee, yes, it is every bit as hard as I remembered :eek::eek: I really think it is more work than Leaner Legs. I'm liking my Mindy gliders for the sliding, have to use carpet as opposed to my yoga mat. What a great idea to use a lean cuisine box!!! I'd tried the plates, but was wearing them out :eek::eek:

On the new name, that suggestion of Ripkin's is very cute! He's a savvy pup :D

Glad you've dug out. It is hard to be stuck indoors. We haven't gotten huge volumes of snow, which was good, but we do have ice patched underneath most of it, which is bad and means no riding (too slick). The dogs were delighted to welcome me back, as they have been missing their morning woods dog-walking time! I think all of our pups agree that they need to be out with mom smelling interesting smells :) Today we scared a poor hawk away from his breakfast, sadly, and it was a fair amount of work to keep Sam from eating it :p Bleck. No doggy kisses from him for awhile :p

I did Hiit 30/30 last night - WOW!! It was a terrific workout - and definitely the one to start with - I could make it through 30/30 - although by the end I was gasping for air. In the beginning I could pretty much recover in 30 seconds - near the end I couldn't get my breath back. I was surprised at how well I did the intervals - the tuck jumbs and air jacks especially. It has been awhile since I've done them and I used to pride myself on doing them relatively well but I was just pleased that I could actually do them. I didn't skimp on any of the intervals - and it was a blast!!! Has anyone else done 30/30? I unfortunately didn't get any 1RM testing done :(- but decided I'd do it this evening as a workout.

DH called me outside to look at the snow. He said it was downright balmy outside and that it was really beautiful. The house looks so pretty with the pine sprays and bows - and we were talking about how much we love it. He said he wanted to leave it up awhile longer - I'm all for that but not too long -after awhile it looks as if you don't take care of your house if Christmas hangs around until February. He asked if there was some sort of winter decorations we could do - I mean afterall I do decorate for Fall. I don't do snowmen so I'm at a loss.

Shadowpup: YES! You know me so well - I did put out the new decorations I bought - just to try them - I had to see!!! Last night - I pulled out the whimsical ornaments I bought and put them on the tree I'm trying to convert to a more whimsical look - it looked fabulous. Then I thought - It would really be a shame to take this tree down right about the time it is coming into its own. You should have fun with your shoes for goodness sake - think less for function and more for fun. I like shoes now with patterns and multiple colors - they can be your splash of color to dress up an outfit that is relatively plain. Say you have black on from head to toe - what is wrong with a really cute pair of red heels??

I had my DH buy me a pair of weight lifting gloves for Christmas. They were too small and we took them back - while I was at the store I saw a pair of Cathe "cardio gloves" - and I was immediately attracted to them. Rex said - yeah, I saw those - I would have bought them but you said you wanted weight lifting gloves. So I did. What are cardio gloves for? I really don't believe that I need gloves to do cardio - or am I being dim?

Have to go, unfortunatley, hope everyone has a great day.

I knew it!!!! There was no way those decorations could just sit for another season :) I saw in your other post that you're taking decorations down ... oh well, I have to do that too. My job will be simpler than yours, so I wish you luck in getting everything packed away. And, welcome to SP! I found you there, and put in a Friend link :)

hmm, decorating for winter ... do you do Valentine's day? President's day? The winter things I know are all tied to the holidays, or fall, or spring. I suppose a person could put up ice skaters, cocoa mugs, skis, and things that relate to winter activities. A really good question. And it shows how much Rex appreciates your hard work :)

Confess I don't know the difference between cardio gloves and other gloves. Are they weighted? I have a pair with weights, and they can be used to step up cardio kickbox difficulty, or for adding a few pounds to STS weight lifting. For punches, it is harder if you have more weight at the end of your arm, and normally I don't need to do that, with all the shoulder work I get elsewhere. My gloves are neoprene.

30/30 sounds great! Haven't done that yet ... am getting the urge to work out twice today, one STS and one Shock Cardio cardio ...

Michelle, Janie, speaking of Spark People, you can find me easily if you link into that site too - I go by Shadowpup there also, and I think there's a link to my page in a previous message here.

---

ADDENDUM: Hey! all of my packages are here! my plate weight tree is in, and also a delayed gift of the deluxe Insanity DVDs, and a delayed gift of Tony Horton 1-on-1 fitness too! And barefoot Cardio, and dvd combo on mindy with medicine balls!

I feel like a kid in a candy store - it's going to be hard to keep from overtraining, with all of this fun material around!!! Thank goodness it's the weekend.

Disc 4 today: Chest, shoulders, and biceps. Just going up 5% in the weight amounts is like YOW-EE! Standing upright rows really get my right elbow. I only pulled up to my rib-cage which was much more doable. Those overhead presses were hard today. My arms just did not want to go up over my head. And I goofed up the barbell curls with the band attached. It makes a big difference if you put 2 feet on that band vs one--the move becomes downright impossible. So I wrote myself a little note for next time: only one foot on the band. The side leaning lateral raises give me trouble if I don't have my form P-E-R-F-E-C-T. And I really don't care for the barbell curl with the narrow grip--they hurt. I'm going to use the regular grip--not worth an injury. Used my new cathe weighted gloves to increase my weight amounts by 1 pound when needed--having those gloves is very nice. And I used my step mat today for the first time--nice to have a little cushion under my back.

I'm contemplating a purchase of 5/8 lb platemates and I'm going back and forth between donut or hex style. I have the donut style in my 1.25 lb platemates and they work well with the barbell and larger dumbbells but not so good on dumbbells 10 pounds and under. Anybody care to weigh in on this? Thanks.

Previewed the first half of step moves last night. Probably will watch again today. It looks like a challenge choreography-wise.

Michelle, I just did disc 4 - yowee is right! Just as hard as I remembered. And I need a longer band; mine was so short that it added too much resistance to the barbell pull and had to drop it.

Have you thought about pace mates, the little half pound magnets? I bought a set of those. The set comes with nine and it is helpful sometimes to be able to squeak up half a pound rather than a whole one. The magnets stick to metal, but not reliably to neoprene.

Hi ya'll! I didn't get to check in yesterday either. Michelle and I are adjusting to being back in the saddle again with every other day posts!:p

I did finish up my 1RM's yesterday!:eek::eek::eek: It took me two hours at the North Boulder Rec Center. My low back is a little sore today, not in a good way, and I am thinking it was all those deadlifts, squats and lunges with heavy weight.:( So I took it easy today. I walked Maggie down in Boulder on a busy path, which she loved! It was along open space so there where a large herd of cows and a big flock of guess on the meadow next to us. It was a beautiful day, with snow on the ground, crystal blue skies and warm temperatures. Maggie had a blast. It was her walk, not exercise for me, I let her sniff and greet and roll in the snow when she wanted. Then we grabbed the girls from their sleepover and came home. The girls X-country skied up the road while I snowed shoe. Eliza was having technical problems with her boot so we were kind of lagging behind, but my little Sophia took off all the way up the road to our destination, a cabin, and then came back to find us! She is so independent when she wants to be! So some light cardio for me, although I seemed to be sucking wind on the snow shoe!

On a happy note my snow pants were a LOT less snug then the last time I put them on especially around the waist and thighs! I have lost a few pounds since the New Year!:eek::eek::eek::cool:

Well settling in to watch the Prisoner of Askban with the kiddos and they are getting impatient with me! I read the posts and everyone is getting me excited to start STS on Tuesday! We are skiing tomorrow as a family and my mom comes on Monday!

Shadowpup: thanks for the suggestion on the pace weights. I've switched gears and I think I will be ordering a 9 weight set. Thanks for the heads-up.

Laura: My 1RMs ashould now be viewable. I hadn't updated my settings since doing those. Your message reminded me that I needed to do that.

Wicked cold here in Virginia this evening. It is supposed to be in the 40s and 50s next week for a few days--it will be nice to have more "normal" winter weather for a few days. Plus, I'm hoping my muscles will not be as sore. This bitter cold is really intensifying my muscle soreness. I've been taking one Aleve at least once a day--sometimes twice a day--which helps.

Joe and I watched Prince Caspian last night. Good movie. I've only read The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe from the Narnia Chronicles and that was quite a long time ago. I might have to read the rest. You just can't beat those classics.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Janie--my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Hi to Shoegal.

Today I worked on learning Step Moves. I went through the routine twice and that 3rd step combo is evading me. I've got everything down except that one-two-three move. So, I'll keep working on it. Once it clicks, I think this will really be a fun cardio workout to do. Very much like learning rhythmic step. Just have to keep trying and reviewing the section that is giving me trouble. It's fun to have a mental challenge with the workout.

Not quite as cold here today. Luckily the wind is not as bad today and it is supposed to be light and variable tomorrow. Yeah! I've got to fly tomorrow, so I'm glad the wind is not going to be blowing at gale force levels. After doing STS disc 5 in the morning, I'll be heading out for New Orleans, packing Travel Fit.

~michelle

Michelle, I'm glad that was helpful - I really love those little magnets! I use the all the time :) Step Moves sounds like a fun one. I'm saving it til there's more room in my exercise space ... Cathe does like to travel! Speaking of that, have a safe trip. It's a difficult time to be in airports.

Now we consider that it is 'warm' here - I even let the boys roam around without their blankets! They thought that was terrific. It hit high 40s :) But it's all in the contrast, and with plenty of warm clothing the outside is fine, though I keep time out to about 45 minutes or less. Inside we keep the fire going round the clock. Nothing warms cold bones like a fire. Last week was 20-30, so this week's temps are a welcome change.

Laura, sounds like a great time with Maggie! It's so much fun to watch pups explore the world, isn't it? Everything is entertaining to a dog, and they get so much pleasure out of new experiences. Did she try to chase the geese and cows ... ? Big congratulations on the change in the ski pants. That's a nice reward for all your hard work!!!

Hi to Janie and Shoegal!

ADDED LATER:
Today's workout was a new Insanity - from the deluxe disks, Max Interval Sports. This was a fun one! Still tough, and longer at 55 minutes than most of the others. The format was 'easier' in the sense that there were more breaks. Sean T divided the workout into sports styles - MMA, football, basketball, gymnastics, track. For each sport, we'd do several high intensity drills. We had breaks between each sport. This workout is one of the more entertaining of the intense ones I've done in a long time! The calorie burn rate was not as high as a typical shorter Insanity - but quite comparable to other hour long workouts. For instance, it would be up there with an IMAX 2, and more than twice a 30 minute 4DS kickbox. I needed to stop the dvd twice to catch my breath ...

Still taking it easy here! It has been nearly impossible to fit in a workout with my DH out of town, so much needs done and I am the only one to do it! But I did take the girls skiing today, it has been beautiful weather here in Colorado. It is warm and NO WIND! Which can be awful here on the Front Range. I can handle cold but I HATE the wind I find it very unsettling.

A friend had given us some handy down boots and skis for Eliza but when we got to the mountain one of the bindings was not fitted to her boot. So unfortunately she and I had to spend a good hour riding the bus to the lodge and getting them swapped out for some rentals. The sweet girl helped us out by comp'ing us the rentals, which was very nice of her. Sophia got to go ahead and ski with my friend and her daughter, so long story short I didn't get to ski nearly as long as I hoped. We haven't been that motivated to get up there this year so I was so psyched to get out on such a beautiful day! Oh well, that's life I guess, and who can really complain about spending their Sunday skiing on a beautiful day with their daughters?

Michelle: Oh good I will check out your 1RM's! Did you end up doing all of them, even the ones not on the sheet? Sounds like STS is really working for you with the DOMS, huh? I am excited but a little nervous as well!

Shadowpup: yep we keep our fire rolling pretty much from fall to spring around here as well. We have this awesome soap stone wood stove from Vermont. The thing is absolutely amazing. It can crank up to 600 degrees and you can still, lightly touch the stone without burning your fingers, not the metal parts just the stone. It radiates the heat so evenly. And the stone holds the heat for some time even after a fire has died out. I am nestled up next to it right now as I type...

Hi to Shoegal, Thoughts and Prayers to Janie>

Oh did I mention I like Michelle's name, I thought it was kind of cute...it seems to be on the right track at least.

Hello to everyone -

The weekend was full of get togethers - on Friday DH and I went to an after office hangout and wished a co worker good luck - as he was leaving. It ended up being more emotional than I had first thought - sad to see him go. We didn't get home until later - it was a long day. Saturday we were having all the neighbors over - it was supposedly to discuss "neighborhood business" not so much as a party. The last time we had this get together at our house I had put out nothing - maybe a couple of bowls of nuts - and gave everyone a drink - that was it - the business was discussed and everyone left relatively early. My neighbors hosted the next meeting and they put out this huge spread of food, had cocktails - etc. I felt almost ashamed of my little bowl of nuts - but my goodness - it was a meeting not a party!!! Well things have now escalated and we have "parties" - so I naturally put out way more food and had wine/ beer/ cocktails available. Some of the neighbors didn't leave until after midnight!!! I asked Rex what the purpose of this meeting/ party was - no business was discussed - or very little business was discussed - and he said that he did want to say a few things but it didn't seem like anybody cared. Frankly, I didn't want to have a party. I would have taken some decorations down on Saturday but it didn't seem like a good idea since people were coming over - and it would take more than a day to get it all down.

Sunday - well,:eek::eek: Pier One was having 75% off of their Christmas decorations!!!! Bought more stuff!!! Their Christmas decor was severly overpriced before Christmas - liked a lot of what they had but I wasn't about to pay their prices. This brought their stuff down so it was almost cheap. I wanted more wreaths for inside the house - I have this hall way that has 5 doors - I wanted to hang something on every door but can you believe it - I didn't have enough!!! Now this helps. I did put my Christmas China away and the Christmas glasses. This week the rest will come down - probably slowly - but taking down isn't nearly as labor intensive as putting up so I think it will go faster than I think.

Shadowpup - I thought that was a creative idea - to put mittens or ice skates around for winter and funny too. I thought of parking a snow plow and snow blower outside :D I do not decorate for President's Day - but I do a little for Valentine's Day. This is pretty much a couple of indoor decorations -and I can do a lot with color and candles - I put out red and pink candles and I have a couple of platters that I switch out on top of the kitchen cabinets that have hearts on them - that is pretty much it. Thanks of the welcome on SP - I really need to explore all of the resources available on there - it is so big I am almost intimidated.

Laura - congrats on getting your 1RM testing done - it sounds like you had fun outdoors with the girls and with Maggie. When does Bo get home? When does your Mom come into town? Did you take your tree down?

Michelle - sounds like STS is really working for you so far - I know you will like Step Moves once you learn it all, I really enjoyed it. It was a couple weeks ago that I did it - and I've only done it once so I can't remember the third combo very clearly - only that it seemed more like a third and a fourth combo together. I did manage to get it all the first time through although not perfectly so I attribute that to knowing Cathe's style, she used similar moves and she cues well.

Janie - I am thinking of you - big (Hug) to you and your family.

Alright - tonight I'm not sure what I'll be doing besides taking down decorations - but I'll be sure to report back. Have a great day.

It was super cold this morning and Ripken and I only did a short walk which he was not happy about but it is supposed to warm-up to the 40s on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Then I did STS disc 5, back and triceps--and now I am feeling the triceps. Laura--I understand how you are feeling nervous about starting STS. I felt the same way, wondering if I was up to it. Once you get going the nervousness goes away and you just concentrate on the work. I will say that I'm glad I have the tower; it really comes in handy to do a modified chinup and pullup.

Today was my travel day to New Orleans. Had a great flight--no wind, no turbulence. Thank goodness. First sign of good things: my suitcase was the second bag to come in on the conveyer belt at baggage claim. That never happens to me. Then, there were a total of 5 of us (including me) on my flight going to the conference, so we split the fare for a limo ride from the airport to the hotel. That was kind of fun. Only $20 per person including the tip--cheaper than the airport shuttle. Then, we get to the hotel. The conference is at Le Pavillon (www.lepavillon.com) and I discover I am in a suite. Okay--no problem, somehow I got upgraded to a suite. I'm still paying the per diem room rate of $129. Get to the suite and check out the daily rate posted on the back of the door and get this: it's $3,000/day. Holy moly! I'm paying $129 a day. How often does something like that happen?

I have to say I'm really looking forward to dinner. All I've had today is oatmeal for breakfast and a granola bar, apple slices and nuts that I took with me on the plane. I'm hungry.

Laura: sounds like you had a fun day with your girls. I'm not a fan of cold wind either--warm wind is great as long as it's not gale force. Cold wind--ick. I'm finding that as I do STS, I have to adjust a few of my 1RMs. I think it's because when I was doing the 1RMs, we weren't pushing through a choreographed workout that kept things moving. My arms just didn't tire out. I'm finding that for a few of the exercises, I'm like "whoa, let's think about that number one more time." Yeah, and that is only at 65 percent.

Shoegal: well I don't feel too bad now that I didn't get my Christmas tree completely stored away this past weekend, although we did get it disassembled. Sounds like you had a nice time with your neighbors. My DH and I don't do stuff like that as much as we probably should.

Shadowpup: I'm assuming the kids have their winter coats--do their coats get really thick? And do you have to brush them out in the winter every once in a while? That would be an arm workout for sure.

Janie: Thinking of you. (((((HUGS))))).

So today was my 3 classes and I worked pretty hard in all of them. I had been planning on getting a Hiit workout in as well. The yurt wasn't warm so I couldn't do it in there and if I wanted to go get my step out of there I would have had to shovel:eek:....so I thought I would do it after all my classes, but after my last one I decided I was done for the day!;):p I felt done and wanted to get home to make dinner!

Shoegal: wow sounds like a fun weekend! How did you do on the eats? I am glad most of the parties are over and I can really focus on me exercise and diet again. Although Jan. is looking like it is filling up already with one party every weekend for the month! How does that happen? Bo came back late Sat. night, I was already in bed so I didn't get to see him to the morning. We had a nice morning checking in and then he had to go to work and I took the girls skiing. He left early this morning with the kids and I haven't seen him since! My mom came to town Sunday and picked the girls up from school. I will go down and see her tomorrow, spend the night and the following day with her until I have to leave for work.

Michelle: WOW! What wonderful travel luck you are having! ENJOY the beautiful 3,000 $ suite! Plenty of space to try out TravelFit in, huh? Hope the luck continues for you and send some my way too! I am starting tomorrow with STS! I need to get started or I feel like something will happen and I won't get it going. Crazy I know, but I do tend to be a little superstious. Bo wanted me to go skiing with him early in the day tomorrow and I told him he would have to wait until after I did my workout. He looked at me like I was INSANE! But I have had this start date in mind, as you guys know since sometime back in the fall, and I have patiently finished my P90X rotation, did my rest week and labored through my 1 RM's and I am not waiting any longer not even for a ski day with my DH! LOL! We can still ski just not as long and later in the day! I have a feeling I am going to be dropping the weight a little bit as well with STS!

I did Cardio Core Circuit last night. I was all motivated too which was good. Anybody do this one yet? There are 5 rounds with 3 high intensity cardio exercises in it. You do each for 30 seconds then you repeat that. After 2 run throughs of the cardio Cathe does one core exercise and then moves on. I did pretty well - although some of the exercises were literally scary. There were a lot of moves where you roll on your back - Cathe did give modifications - and I modified. I thought - that might not hurt me - but why take the chance? I have to say that the dread factor I think will convince me not to do this very often although none of it was that dreadful - but doing all of that jumping and then repeating it all again - I'd rather get through it once and not have another round looming over my head!!! But these workouts need to be done repeatedly in order to get a good idea of what they are all about so I will give it another go around.

Laura - Well - as far as eating over the weekend - I didn't actually eat too much of what I put out for that party which is amazing for me. I did have too much wine though . I agree that the holidays also wrecked havoc with my diet and exercise regimen - I just let it all go - now I'm fighting back!!! I also just discovered that Rex will be going out of town all of next week - he claims he told me but I'm thinking he told himself and then convinced himself he told me. I am worried about getting back & forth to Pittsburgh especially with all the snow we've been having. On SP - that picture of Rex and I was taken at my Mom's house - not mine - so those are her decorations. I forgot to download my Christmas pictures -I will tomorrow. I actually started to take stuff down now. Good Luck with STS - I admire your determination. I really do!!!

Michelle - Wow - that is good luck - a wonderful travel experience - a fabulous suite - too bad Joe isn't there. You guys could make a little vacation out of it! I'm wondering if you guys take vacations and travel together or if you consider your boat a vacation??? Rex and I would like to travel more togehter- one obstacle though are our girls. We'd like to take them along on trips so we try to arrange things so they can come. I imagine you probably have the same mentality with Ripken. It sounds as if you are adjusting to STS and getting into it. I'd like to hear more about how it is going.

Hey Shadowpup - thanks for the flip flops - although I am wondering what those spark goodies mean??? And what does it mean to earn sparkpoints - what does that get me? I find it almost overwhelming over there. You have to tell me the best way to navigate on SP.

Janie - thinking of you.

Hope everyone has a great day. :)
