Lurker Invitations Feb. Check-In

Happy Monday everyone. Yesterday, I did clean max after coming home from my weekend visiting family--didn't get to do an actual Cathe workout. So, today, it was S&H triceps and biceps. I'm feeling it already on my left side and not necessarily in a good way. A little stretching every so often seems to help.

Laura: my sister and I only get to do Cathe together when we visit each other. Otherwise, we do our own version of a check-in everyday by email. Sometimes our workouts synch-up and we magically do the same thing on a given day; most days we don't. But we have fun all the same.

Ironlady: You must have so many mixed emotions about the turn in your relationship with your dad. You obviously were a true gift that your dad sadly failed to recognize during his life. It really is too bad that he missed out on sharing so much more with you.

Booboo39: Step Jam is on dvd: The Classics. I only get to do that one when I visit my sister; she has the dvd, I don't. It also has Step Heat and another workout that I cannot remember.

Good Morning,

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I went to my DIL baby shower on Sat. It was great seeing most of our family there. They want me to stay with them for a week after the baby is born. I can't wait for the end of March or the beginning of April for that to happen.

Shadowpup, Joey and I will soon need to get heavier weights too, because of STS. This series is amazing! First signs of Spring is crocuses. I'm still adjusting to the STS workouts too.

Booboo, I too, over the weekend did not exercise in 2 days. That would be my cardio time. Jeesh! Life has a way of doing that. I'm back on track today and will be doing STS disk 10 when my breakfast digests a little bit. I'm going to go see these movies you talked about as soon as I can. They won Oscars I believe. How's the nose doing, healing well? I'm impressed with your treadmill workout.

Elle, I agree with you 100%. You can't force people to workout, you can only lead by examples and suggestions.

Michelle, Oh, how wonderful to have your sister workout with you. I bet that was fun. Seems you had a good weekend.

Patricia, Hope you find time with your workouts too. It can sure be hard at times. Just keep pushing yourself and don't give up on it. You won't regret it.

Laura, Love the way you mix, up things with your workouts and cardio. Good job on the 4DS!

Sherry, How was KPC? Tough/but good workout that one. You seem to have a lot on your plate. I'm in awe of you for continuing with your exercises. It's one of the best things you can do right now. Rant away, we're here. I bet you are very proud of your daughter. I am.

Will be doing STS disk 10 today. Shoulders, biceps and chest. Did not get in my cardio the last two days. Life is all I can blame it on. No other excuse. I'll try harder next time.

Check in Monday 2/23

Hey there -

Checking in. I actually worked out on Sunday. I did Amy Bento's ASC II again in the vain hope I might just master it. No such luck. This time I couldn't contain my disdain for the ordeal she put me through and started to scream at the tv - I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!!!! I worked out with my friend - we used to work out often - about once a week and now not so often since I got married and moved about an hour away. I chose this particular workout to see how she'd do with it. Didn't master it either - and I think did it about as well as I had the first time. So I felt vindicated. Watched the Oscars afterwards. Was dozing off now and then and I think I missed a whole bunch of stuff.

DH and I went for another long, long, walk. This time on what is a snow mobile loop in the park. It was packed with ice and I fell like 3 to 4 times and injured nothing but my pride. He fell - not once. The girls (my pups) ran about - up and back, up and back - checking on us. They, of course, loved it. They didn't fall either.

Ironlady: Sorry about your father. It is interesting to me your description of your relationship with him as my own with my dad is similiar. It was never great and I was often surprised when I would hear other people praise their fathers and tell me that he was or is their best friend. That is something I've never known and I'm obviously not alone. Hang in there.

Shadowpup - you really are an inspiration. Traveling tends to put a damper on my resolve to work out and eat right. Your dedication will make me think differently.

Elle - thanks for the description of Jari Love. I'm still up in the air about actually trying her out. My recent purchases were so bad - everything I was trying I really didn't like. I am in agreement about people working out. Can't force anyone as is evident with my DH. Yeah - he wants to - he says he should but when it comes down to it he won't until he decides on his own to get a move on. It is an individual commitment.

BooBoo - Congrats on the nose piercing. How fabulous!!! I've seen that on some people and have been amazed at how attractive it is. My weekend shoe report is super boring. Wore hiking boots on the walk - then put on fluffy socks to watch a movie. On Sunday I wore these horrrible boots that lace all the way up to the top - they come about knee height and have a zipper on the side. They are flat and warm and I do like them but the reason they are horrible is that they are impossible to take off. I struggle everytime - horrible to go shoe shopping in - or if you want to try on clothing. They don't just slip off. Awful. Trapped in a shoe prison of my own making!!!

Shoe report for today: Silver slingback heels - yes, there is a buckle on these too. Geeze - what shoe do I own without one - I'm beginning to wonder. I'm almost embarrassed to tell anyone anymore. They all look different I swear to God! Trust me on this one.

Levitating report. I still can't do it but I made my whole family try it. My sister could - I just knew she would be able to. I asked her if she would please lift my feet off the ground in an effort to convince them they actually could leave the ground. My nephew could do it as well. Everyone else couldn't. If anything it turned out to be a rather fun parlor trick.

Thanks for listening - hope everyone has a good day!! Hi to everyone too!!

Shoegal, Just finished STS disk 10 and checked in and there you were. How ya doing? Amy Benton is a great instructor. Sounds like you are going to master it very soon. I also mumble obscenities. We don't have channel 4 to watch the Oscars. Darn! I really wanted to too. Love your beautiful long walks with your animals, and your hubby. How sweet is that?

The only time I'll levitate I'm afraid, is in the next life!LOL:rolleyes:

Take care and have a great rest of the day,

Janie

okay... out.....of....... breath.......................................... wheeeeeew! I finally did M1W1D3 with the weights, finished it entirely. It still seems like more of a cardio w/o than legs. On thursday I will start W2. Wow, I feel like a big girl now, I have progressed from huggies pull-ups to big girl undies :) Will go have a chocolate protein shake now, will even throw in 1/2 an over ripe banana and 1/2 tsp of peanut butter!

No levitating for me....EVER! and barefoot all day! Hello, Janie, Laura, Michelle, Cookinggal, Shoegal, Ironlady and all others! Have a great evening.

Good Evening Ladies!
I am so tired so won't post personals tonight but loved reading everyones post and your all on my mind.

I was so dragging all day, but had to teach my two classes back to back tonight. Wasn't sure how I was going to make it through. The first class was small and I did a Pilates Mat class with the mini bar. The 4 pound bar felr like 200 lbs after holding it up for awhile!:(
But then my 2nd class was full and I guess I got pumped up on the energy of everyone or got a 2nd wind the class seemed to be over in 5 minutes! We did high intensity cardio drills with weights for shoulder, biceps and triceps & some quick core work. Funny how things go some times, huh?

Hi all,
Just a quick check in - it's been a long day. I enjoyed reading all the personals, though :)

Today, did a hike, STS abs/stability ball, and DrillMax Scrambled. A cardio day. Tomorrow ... STS Week 2, biceps.

Hi everybody--quick check-in for now. Today was a cardio day: Rhythmic Step which was my first advanced Cathe dvd and one of my favorites. RS never fails to get the sweat dripping from the top of my head. Sore left pec is a-okay today. Thank goodness.
More later

Cardio this morning before breakfast. Then M1 D2 W1. Big night tonight, Biggest Loser & OC Housewives Reunion. I have my rotten tomatoes ready to throw at my screen when Tamra comes out :) Have a great day everyone.
Blessings

Hi Everyone,

Did the video wedding step up today. Not sure what I want to watch on TV tonight.

Looks like everyone is doing a workout today.

Talk with yas later,

Janie

Well I had a good class this morning for Pilates. Although I did more instruction and less doing myself. I still do most of the exercises though. Than I decided to jump on the treadmill. I am a terrible runner so I want to work on that. I did 3 miles of jogging. I was dripping sweet and red faced!:eek:

And toward the end I got this terrible tickle in my sinuses and started sneezing all over the place. Now I feel like poop-pooh and I am so bumbed. I am supposed to go out in Boulder for sushi and dancing with my husband and friends. We so rarely go out and I don't want to feel bad or stay out late and push myself into further illness. Some of my friends had this and they were pretty down and out for a few days at least.

Man oh mad does it seem like I am sick a lot or what???? What's up with that? Over training?

Check in Tuesday 2/24

Hey there People!!

I did - get this - 4DS Total Body - it was 97 minutes last night. No warm up or cool down really in this premix and no abs either. I was going to add in an STS Ab Circuit selection but didn't want to tack on another 15 minutes or so. I should have - now I'm beating myself up especially since I had to tell the calendar that I didn't do it. It really seemed to understand though. The mess I made - you need a high step, a regular step, a stability ball, a barbell, a wide assortment of weights, a resistance band, ankle weights - you name it - I pulled it out and used it. Do you guys remember way, way back when all you needed were shoes and that was it? Now these video workouts think nothing of asking you to pull out your ecliptical trainer for a couple minutes and then sliding it under your bed afterwards because it folds down for easy storage.

Janie - sorry I missed you. Can you see me on there??? I'm glad there is someone else out there who can't levitate. You, me and BooBoo are all grounded so to speak.

Laura - don't be sick - think good healthy thoughts - just take care of yourself and do what is right for you!!!

I have to run unfortunately and can't stay to do more personals - but I'll be back. Do have time though for a quick shoe report: Black boots with beautiful high, high heels. I stuck them on and felt on top of the world. I feel all super fashionable too walking around in them. It is probably all in my head and unbeknownst (is that a word) I'm stuck in the 80's.

Have a good day everybody!!!

Hi all you wonderful ladies!

Quick check in.....
Janie I LOVE KPC.... but who in the world put it back to back with SG-BSB? Oh, guess that was me! No really not as bad as all that but WOW what a shoulder workout!

Shoegal, I know what you mean about those lucky enough to have close relationships with their fathers. I was fortunate enough to have my mothers sisters and husbands to look to. My DD is in the same situation I am though only worse.... no relationship at all with her father. That is really HIS loss.... she is truly a wonderful, intelligent, beautiful young woman

Laura, feel better soon! Shadowpup, you are amazing! Booboo, great job! I haven't started STS yet. Still getting ready for it! Couple of thing I have to get still!!!!!

Rest of the week I'll be doing GS LEGS and Chset and Triceps and some other cardio work. Will check in with you all later! Have a Great Night!

Hi all!

I was planning to work all evening - but instead, a friend of mine is leaving the place I used to work, and happened to get in touch with me on one of my few days in the area this month ... and I went to her farewell party instead. Uh oh - it will be a busy day tomorrow!!! Fortunately, at least in a way, I'd been frustrated about a project and decided to do my STS early (Biceps, finishing off my first pass through week 2). So, that was done, and chances are the roadblock will disappear after I sleep on it.

Janie, are you finding the Biceps discs to be as tough as the Legs and Triceps? I don't usually feel them as long afterwards, despite all those pushups.

Ironlady, I'm lucky in that my bad patch with my father lasted only about a year. He thought he disapproved of my divorce and remarriage ... and then came to realize it was really his own divorce he was upset about :( But it is wonderful that you've been able to let a lifestime of strain go in order to be there despite it all. It's easy to see where your DD gets her strength and willpower!

Shoegal! What an amazing workout! I hear you on the equipment. Yesterday I dragged out everything from the bosu to the kitchen sink - the upstairs kitchen sink, which is where the water that gets me through STS was! But, I was not wearing shoes ...

Laura, sorry to hear you're fighting off the national winter passtime. There's some kind of flu making the rounds; it seems to take people's voices, too. Hope you feel better after a good night's sleep. Overtraining ... well, could be, you work out pretty hard, between the job and all ... Do you use the trick of checking your morning pulse to keep tabs on that? Mine is always elevated by 10 percent or even more, if I'm overtraining.

Booboo, you are turning in some terrific workouts there!

Hi ladies--I think I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I'm sticking with the S&H for my weight work: today was chest and back. Fortunately, my sore left pec seems to have been a one day event. Thank goodness.

Fathers and daughters: So I'm noticing a bit of a pattern when it comes to father-daughter relationships. They seem to be either great or not so. About 25 years ago, my dad and I went through a rough patch in our relationship. It was right when I first left home. I always felt like it was just a stage we had to go through for me to establish my independence. Fortunately, that stage is major history in my life.

Weather report: beautiful day here in Virginia. My DH tells me that our golden retriever, Ripken is stretched out on our back deck at home working on his sun tan. That dog has the life of Ripken! Well, at least I'll get to go outside today for a bit--have to go over to the Pentagon this afternoon for a meeting.

Shoegal: 4DS total body--that sounds like one major workout. I've only done 4DS HIS--have yet to try the others. Might take a look at that premix just for fun. Have to tell my sister about that one.

Laura: you have been on a rollercoaster lately with the health. I always thought that exercise help to strengthen your immune system, but I guess you could push your body too far. Are you getting enough sleep?

Have a great day!
~Michelle

Laura, 3 miles on the treadmill is something I'm trying to achieve. Don't you just love the feeling of dripping sweat and red faced when the exercise is over? When that happens, you know you did a great job!LOL:D

Shoegal, Wow, am I impressed with you with your 90 min. of 4DS. You are doing great. Love you boots by the way.

Sherry, GS re great workouts and tough. What cardio do you have in mind for this week?

Shadowpup, Your little meez is darling. Sounds like you had a good time at your friends farewell party For some reason I'm going great with the upper body STS workouts, but have a challenge when it comes to legs. I don't know why.

Michelle, Can't go wrong with S&H. Those are terrific workouts. Glad to hear the soreness is out. I'm not my dad's favorite and always wanted a good relationship with him. But that's OK, I know he loves me in his own special way. How was your Pentagon meeting?

Did the wedding video all the way through for the first time in a long time. All 52 min. of the cardio portion. Also lost a couple of pounds. I am finely getting down to business. Eating right is key my friends, along with great excercise .;)

How are the rest of you doing?

Janie

Check in Wednesday 2/25

Checking in out there ????!!!

Did nothing yesterday as my friend was throwing a little dinner with New Orleans inspired cuisine. Yes, I ate a whole bunch and drank the wine so I'm now disgusted with myself. Tonight is wine & cheese night and I'm afraid of my very poor resolve.

Janie - you're right, eating right is key. I shall buckle down and get going with it. I used to be really good but I've been denying myself for so long I go off the deep end and want something good. Problem is right now I want something good - ALL THE TIME. Good for you for losing some weight - that is motivation for you. By the way, I find your meez a little risque - but I wish I was her.

BooBoo - why do you dislike Tamra? I'm afraid I know these women but not their names. If you describe their situations I can make them out. The only name I have down is Gretchen. I actually watched the finale and then the reunion show and the biggest loser. What's with all the crying?

Ironlady - The relationships I have with my Mother and sisters are the most important of my life so I don't dwell on my poor relationship with my Dad too much. I knew he did the best he could - I just always felt that he didn't know any better. Your daughter is very fortunate to have you as her Mom - both of you will her reap the rewards of your relationship for the rest of your lives.

Michelle - I want to bask in the sun too!! Can't do it here - way too cold.

Shadowpup - Hope the roadblock has been lifted!!!

Hello to everyone else.

Shoe report: cute flats in a wonderful beige color - these shoes look as if they have been wrapped in fabric around the toe and then it was tied in a knot. I am in stealth mode in flats - wisk around much faster.

Workout report: I intend to do another premix from 4DS - double cardio - I think my inspiration to do this was somone in this check in - tell me if you've done it!

Good day to all of you!:D

Shoegal,

You are very observant , my meez is a little risque, I'll change it.

She's better covered now.

Good Evening Workout Buddies,

So I ended up crashing on the couch for an hour or so yesterday and then felt better. I tidied up the house, cooked dinner and got dressed to go out in Boulder. I was still tired and kinda of dragging but I don't get to go out much due to the young red headed twins in my life and mustered the energy. Ended up having a blast. We went to a traditional Japanese restaurant with another couple and sampled a lot of different dishes. No rice and small portions but very tasty. Then we went dancing and I had so much fun. My husband isn't much for cutting the rug but he even danced with me so it was a special treat! I guess he got tired of watching other guys ask me for a dance and decided it was time to get off the bench.:eek::eek:

But it was a late night and I felt so tired all day....so decided to take a rest day today.

I know that I have been up and down with sickness this year. Everyone is sick around here this year. I think it is partly the weather I swear we go from 10 to 5o degrees over night. Having young kids in school also exposes you to a gazillion bugs a week. Shadowpup I will look into the pulse thing that is intriguing to me. I love things that you can measure and see correlations.

Great Job Janie on the Weight Loss!!!! I know I know it is the eating!!! Gotta get on that!

Shoegal I did the double cardio earlier this week it was fun! I hadn't done an hour of step since I don't know circa 1980's so if your feeling 80's it is the workout for you!

Michelle I do struggle with sleeping well often but lately I have been sleeping well. I think I need some good multivitamins and less stess!:(:(

Great Workouts everyone I swear you guys keep me moving!

Shoegal,
Tamra is the wench who set next to Vicki during the reunion episode. The two blondes on one couch and on the other couch were Jeana, Gretchen & Lynn. Jeana was the one closest to the interviewer (can't remember his name) and Lynn was on the opposite end of the couch who cried during the show.

Tamra is the one who spilled the beans on Gretchen having an affair with a guy named Jay. Tamra claimed this Jay called her one night after Gretchen had booted him out of her car. Tamra is vicious and very, very insecure. Vicki is an absolute control freak and is very intense, maybe she should smoke some of the pot that they accuse Lynn of smoking. Lynn was never mean or derogatory towards any of them. She was a mellow soul or so she appeared. Well I could go on and on so I guess I will!! Tamra gives southern california women in general a bad name. Over on the general board someone commented on how that is how most of the women out here are. Sooooooo not true. My brother lives in the same neighborhood as Tamra and he agrees that many women in his neighborhood are so not like her in their manner of dress or how they present themselves. We do not all resort to botox, bleach our hair or dress like twenty year olds on their way to a nightclub. Some of us accept our gray hairs, crows feet, and flat comfy shoes even if we have stilettos in the closet :) Speaking for myself here. So there enough of my rant!

No workout today. DS (17yrs old) took me out to dinner and a movie for my birthday. He is such a gentleman, I had a lovely evening. I did eat fried zuchinni sticks but I splurged with the unhealthy treat as I gave up all sugar for lent. I have never done that before but I am hoping that if I can make it through lent then maybe I will be able to (almost) forever banish sweets. Does that sound farfetched?? Doesn't hurt to dream!
Goodnight everyone,
Booboo
