Love Affair with PB

I have a major love affair with Peanut Butter sandwiches! I buy a jar every once and a while and go to town. I usually end up having to throw out the jar because I have no self control. I could easily have four sandwiches in one sitting. I have to eat it till I get sick and I never do!!!

I just wanted to share my love hate relationship with peanut butter just after I ate two sandwiches.

Well I will definatley have enough full for tonights schedule workout the Gauntlet.

I hear ya! Nothing better than a big pb and j sandwich chased with an ice cold glass of milk.. I'd take that any day over donuts or sweets.

I allow myself a piece of pb toast in the am, but otherwise try to steer clear or I can do some damage on a whole jar. :9

I love pb on a spoon...or on a piece of chocolate...or in a smoothie...or on apple slices...I love pb too! :9

I am drooling just thinking about PB! Sometimes I like to take a spoon of PB and dip it in the jelly jar. It's like a PBJ sandwich without the bread - low carb, right? :9

I know the feeling. I eat almost a jar of PB a week- not even on bread- just by the spoonful. It has to be the natural PB though- not a fan of Skippy or any of those types.

I have a great recipe for peanut butter cupcakes. I posted it here a couple of years ago :)

I too, am addicted to the PB! Up until this afternoon I loved to grind my own at the local food co-op. Today my dad, the retired food scientist, happened to come with me and informed me that unless the co-op is emptying, scalding and drying the peanut grinders every night, I was probably consuming a fair amount of mold and general yuckiness along with the peanut butter. What a bummer!

Even after all this time the earth never says to the sun, "you owe me." Look what happens with a love like that.

It lights the whole sky.

Me too, me too ! Just ate a spoonful before I came here. Needed to get outta the kitchen ! :+

Sparrow - your dad's information sounds like a bummer, can you get your own grinder?:p

Uh Oh, now ya got me thinking about going back in for another spoonful before I hit the workout room :9

I'm with ya. One day I tried this brand called Once Again PB. It was organic, unsalted, crunchy and made with the skins. It has spoiled me for all other PBs and they don't sell it in my supermarket anymore. Before I saw your thread, I had just finished writing an email to the company asking where I could find it! I actually dream about the stuff.

Nancy, you are reminding me of your hysterical thread from a few months back with your "stranger" in the aisle.

I too love the PB. Just made myself up a batch of PMS Survivor Squares - and I'm not even PMS'ing!

I found a PB called "Naturally More" that has these flaxseeds in it, it is even better than Skippy or Jif!:9

I cannot keep it in the house though, I "visit" the jar all day long until its gone, and that is alot of calories over the course of only one day!

I'm one of those chuckheads who can eat it out of the jar with a spoon - but don't. What self control!!! Not really, it's just that it's so high in calories - one of my typical spoonfuls would probably be 500 calories. I used a really big spoon and scooped it out real big! I also had a problem with Smucker's Goober - PB & jelly in the same jar. Had to quit buying it. Now I make this mix of mashed great northern beans (one can) with 6 tble. of real PB - it works out to about 30 calories a tble. I eat it with sugar free jelly, and it ain't half bad.

I blame my PB addiction on my parents. They used to keep these huge gallon size tubs of it (big family). We put it on a lot of things--my favorite being pancakes. PB and syrup of course. My stepdad would make this yummy homemade hot syrup. Also, if we had beans and cornbread for dinner (a staple for us growing up), we'd finish it off by mixing peanut butter and syrup in a bowl and crumbling cornbread into it. I never do that anymore because I usually ended up with a tummy ache, but I do still put it on pancakes. Usually I'll have a couple pancakes with just syrup (lite syrup but can't stand the sugar free stuff), and then a couple with the PB & syrup.

I also went through a phase of putting PB on baked potatoes.

I eat the natural stuff, too.

ETA: I don't eat it by the spoonful, exactly, but if I make a pb&j for my kids, I'll lick the knife--sometimes scooping out a little extra before licking.

Boy, it's like I've entered a Catheland confessional here.

I thought I was the only one in the world that put PB on pancakes. I was thinking about that the other day, how I would eat a big stack of pancakes with PB on them. Makes me want some but not going to do it. We don't have a great selection of natural PB here so I stick with Jif for the kids and I try to stay away from it. I do like the spoon when I pb&j for my DD.

Yup, Suzanne, it was the same supermarket. (Which, btw, I think may have burned down today. There are fire trucks everywhere around it!)

Me too!! I hate syrup, I always have. I've always put PB on my pancakes/ waffles. Now I make protein pancakes & top them w/ Naturally More PB.... yummy! My dd's love PB & honey on their pancakes. ;-)
