Lifting like girls

Tom, hopefully the strength loss is only temporary. Maddening, isn't it? Sometimes I can't even tell why- I guess you know it's food, so that helps.

Karen, great feeling when the posterior chain hurts! I love the sound of the KB programme.

Lib, looking forward to hearing your reviews of the DVDs you bought.

HTS yesterday for me (high rep front squats were downright unpleasant), and I'm building up the courage to do another HTS today- but it's heavy front squats, so I'm procrastinating !

Lol, Justine!

Sorry I haven't been on, or pulling my weight.....been a hard week for me. After pulling all those hours, now it feels like it just dropped off the edge. I am two workouts behind....was three but did finally workout today....shoulders, bi's and tri's.

That should be tomorrow's workout, only a week ahead. :(

Question....Cathe has a three day rest between chest/back and shoulders/bi/tri......can I move that to two days? I have wednesday morning free, and am in Springfield all day Tuesday.

Thanks.

Okay, commandos! I broke down and tried an ICE workout! I did Rockem Sockem--cutesy name.....NOT a cutesy workout! WOW. I did a lot better than I thought I would. My lungs hurt....which could also be my brain arguing with me about doing cardio too....Honestly, I tried it because the cardio actually scared me. Knowing I only had to modify some, and grab a breath once, made me feel more confident about doing ICE and thus Xtrain. :)

My back is feeling it now! Oh....completely forgot to tell y'all, doc says I'm finally down 6 lbs. I know my clothes are getting looser still.

Justine, did you just make that up?!?! I love your cheeky ways! :) Serious laughter over here... Just please tell me that your sales pitch was not your methodology for postponing HTS today, or I will feel guilty! Did you make it through? Does HTS give extra emphasis to the leg routines? Seems like you do a lot of leg workouts.

Lib, yeah, I agree with what Justine said, and I've done that myself. Sometimes you just do what you gotta do. Nice work on Rock 'Em Sock 'Em. Cathe does boxing right! Super congrats on the weight loss! IMO the best part is the looser clothes. Yay!

Tom, sorry about your frustration today. I do seem to recall you hitting a good number of PRs over the past couple weeks, so maybe this is just a temporary reset?

Karen, Roz, hi!

It was another "ugh" Monday so I did Low Impact Circuit. I think I will do XTrain for UB this week and a Cathe Live for legs. I really want to do another round (maybe my 6th or 7th?) of STS but I just can't get it together being in mommy mode to littles right now.

Lisa, please come and join the extraneous vowel club. It runs a comprehensive programme for helping to use up the coloured ink cartridges on your pc, and explaining how worlds are spelt. I can send you a catalogue. It'll change your spelling behaviour for life, once you've learnt how it works. There's a referal policy, so bring a neighbour! It's not dull, there's plenty of humour in the material. You even get lunch. Courgettes cut into spirals (but not spiralized zucchini), with yoghurt dressing and a Caesar salad. Or an omelette if you'd prefer. Afternoon snacks include chamomile tea and doughnuts.
You can pay by cheque, and an acknowledgement will be sent out, the cheque will be cancelled if you choose not to attend.
Justine, that was great! "We Yanks have banned the EVC here, just too lazy to write all that!! Gotta admit when it is written " your way" it just looks more impressive!! We are so so lackadaisical that even OK becomes k, your..ur, omg, HBD (Happy Birthday) , you get the picture! We have expanded the function of the consonant at the expense of the vowel!!! Life is WAY to hectic this side of the pond to allow time for ALL THOSE VOWELS!!! Absolutely love you sense of HUMOUOUOUR!!

Tuesday Bliss Ladies! Lat day here and I did a little different mix of stuff. I did barbell rows first (new wrinkle for me and it was ok with elbows...always check in with them!) I did 6 sets, working up to 175# 2x8. Next I did dumbbell rows, 80s 3x8, and finished with lat pulldowns, 3x10. As a "capper" I did seated knee ins x35 x25. Have a great one Lady Iron heavers!

Lisa-yes, I was delaying HTS! I got it done, though. You're right, it's a lot of leg work, but each workout seems to be total body, so deadlifts and squats most days!

Hard strikes today. Good shoulder burner. Fun workout.

Lib, sounds like you did really well on the ice workout. It always takes a coulee of runs through something new for me to be able to get into it.

Tom, good Lat workout. Can you isolate them? For me lats are the hardest muscle to 'feel'.

Karen, more KBs?

Roz, I hope you're well- I'm longing to here your thoughts on the physique templates....

I tend to like kickboxing, so that's easier for me to get into.

I am soooooo sore today! Hoping to feeling up to adding cardio again tonight. Thinking the ice low impact cardio 1.

I have a really hard time eating breakfast (with in two hours of waking), and if I don't eat before I leave the house, I tend to not eat until well after noon (typical leave time is 730 am). I was thinking about getting some ensure or slim fast to drink in the car, what are your thought on this, commandos?

HI everyone!!!
Justine, you crack (er, craque?) me up!

Great work, everyone. Sorry I'm being a lousy correspondent -- it's temporary!

Justine, the 6x week physique templates work each bodypart 3x week, so it's not 1 bodypart/day. It's something like this...
Mon Chest Back Tris
Tues Legs (Quads and Hams)
Tues Chest Back Bis
Thurs Legs (Q+H)
Fri Chest Back Bis Tris
Sat Legs (Q+H) Bis Tris

Killer, but it's actually not TOO much, and it adjusts volume based on how quickly you're recovering from your workouts. I'm really loving it! It's a great change of pace.
BTW, did you get the cutting templates, or did you just work up your own plan from the book?

Lib, try a shake? If you're not working out in the morning, a whey/casein blend mind tide you over nicely. I like the Quest peanut butter protein powder. Maybe blend with a frozen banana and some unsweetened vanilla almond milk and a spoon of PB and take it on the road?
If it's post-workout, I'd stick to whey only, as it's faster-digesting.

Tom, you eat, man! Make a shake with half-and-half! That's my commando Rx.

Lisa, how's it going, mama? I hope you and your gals are doing swell. :)

Karen, your KB w/os sound killer! Are you still on the road all the time these days?

I'll be back when I can -- sending hearty pats on the lats to all!
Roz

Great success on leg day....I showed!! Actually had a good leg day for me, doing 8 sets of squats up to 205# x5 (not parallel), and finishing with 2 sets of bench squats, 175x5 and 155x8. I looked in my mirror and these are very close to parallel, my bench is lower than my knees. Next was glute bridges, 255# 3x20, deadlifts, 255# 2x5 (thutt on fire by this time)' and finished with barbell calf raises, 155 x30 x25 x20, 1 set donkey presses x 25 (unweighted) and for abs, 1x40 cable crunches. Justine, I do feel like it is hard to isolate the lats, seems like always some other muscle group is aiding and abetting! Rear delts on rows and lower back extensors on other motions and bi's on many "lat lifts". They seem to be the muscle group hardest for me to get doms! Roz, I am 'pounding down" the protein shakes as per your RX, and my weight is back to about where it was. How long are the w/o's in this new program? I think I got into tendonitis trouble by doing endless sets of pullups, curls etc and maybe less reps more often would be better (not sure this old dog can adapt, but might try) Karen, hope you survived kettlebell burn! My arms would fall off swinging that many kb's! Lisa, sts would be tough with little ones! Lib, kickboxing sounds fun (and useful from time to time)! Have a great Thursday all!

Lib, do you workout in the morning? If so, I'd go down the route Roz suggests and chug a protein shake. If you're doing cardio, it's ok to do it fasted, and if you workout later in the day, I don't see the problem with not eating in the morning (as long as it doesn't send you head first into a bowl of candy by lunchtime!) I got to my leanest by intermittent fasting- and felt great. Just make sure you fuel well around STS!! And I agree about Cathe's short workouts being tough ones. Sorry to hear about the tyre.

Roz, thanks for the info on the 6 day template. Honestly, it took me about 24 hours to choose between 4,5,6 X per week. I decided on 4x, but I'll be doing it every 6 days, rather than weekly - it seems to suit me, and if I need to I can always add an extra rest day. I suspect you'll have a wider range of exercises to pick from as well. I can't wait to start. As for the diet plan- I'm doing it from the book, but I may knuckle down and change to the templates next week (given I haven't lost anything!)

Tom, glad it's not just me on the lats. Totally agree about never having doms there. Great leg day for you! Those hip thrusts were heavy! Glad as well about the weight gain- and by the sound of your PRs it seems to be working.

Karen, did you get the KB workout done? Must be tough if you were dreading it!

Deadlifts for me today 5x3@ 105kg. Also pull ups (4x10) and rows and snatches and overhead pressing and, and and....loads of stuff. Felt OK today.

Lisa, hope alls well. Tomorrow's live sounds fun- I guess you'll be doing it at some point?

Keep on lifting commandos x

Justine, great workout, and I'm assuming it was long since you said "loads of stuff." Tomorrow's Live will probably be on tap for Saturday. That seems to be my pattern of late.

Tom, leg day! You got it done. And you got it done right! Woo hoo!

Lib, most definitely you can get a killer workout in 20 mins! To add to what Justine said, it sounds like you have a system where Intermittent Fasting could be your best option. Karen is an Intermittent Faster, so she might have better info, but if you're not hungry until lunchtime, then you could probably make 12-8pm your eating window?

Roz, your new program looks great! I bet you're blowing it out of the water.

Karen, same to you, killing it as always.

Yesterday was step for cardio (my personal mish mosh of Athletic Step and Step Moves). Today was XTrain Burn Sets Chest Back Shoulders. I'm thinking XTrain has my favorite splits. My other workout is Chase the Crawling Baby Max. Holy heck, she's fast and determined to MOVE! She also gets stuck a lot because her ego far exceeds her abilities. So much for getting any housework done.

4x10 pullups Justine...BEAST MODE!! Jealous here and can't wait to get back to "em"! Props!!!

Good Morning All! Shoulder day for me and I put in some time. 12 sets of strict press, going very short to try a pr and worked up to 120x1, saving some for 135#, but it didn't happen ...AGAIN....want that one REAL bad! dropped to 115x2, 105 x5x4x4x3 and 1 set x3 pushpress (kinda suck at these, but would like to start doing them) and finished these with 85# 3x8. Side laterals 3x10, rear delt flys, 3x10, 1 set x 14 dumbbell press (45's) and 1 set x20 barbell shrugs, 255# x 20. I finished with some hanging forearm work 45;s x 25 x20 x15. Off to visit "me MUM" today. She lives in Arkansas and is pretty much bedridden with 24 hour care at home, She is 93, and I don't think she really recognizes either my brother or me, but still need to be there when I can. Hope each and everyone of you enjoys your TORTURE OF CHOICE today!!! Have great ones fellow Commandos!

Disc 31, meso 3/week 3..... Killed it.

I guess I didn't enter my totals last week because it was giving me lighter % than I lifeted last week . So I went with what I could push 6 out of.

Yes, I try to workout in the morning.....otherwise I tend to skip them, days get away from me.

Registered for grad school classes......not sure why, but it was weird......

Tom, it must be hard. I couldn't visit my grandma, I needed to remember her the way she was, (and she was in Oregon)

Have a great day!

Oh, I'm gong to Dallas in a week! I am so excited!
