Lifting like girls

Chest day, almost postponed it but pushed thru and it went pretty well. First set with 45 bar was sore, but I slide under the bar further and it helped with racking it. I worked up to 210 x1. This is up 5, and I went deeper than a floor press, but without a spotter, it is hard to push heavy stuff further. I dropped to 185x4 175x5 165x 6x5x4 and 155x5. For incline, I did 135 x8x8x5. I did 17 sets total and called it a day. I really am missing the arm work, but I am making gains on the other lifts, so some solace there!! Hope it is a great start to everyone's week!!

How are the post-plyo legs lib? A hot tub is just the ticket.

Tom, I had a chest day too- but I'm not comparing (mine's about half yours!!) and you did more reps, so I'll keep quiet! I agree about a spotter. I feel I might dare to do more if I had someone ready to help out.

Yesterday was cardio supersets. Glad I decided on that one, rather than afterburn- it was enough.

Lisa, I hear you about ocd eating- you're so right about teaching our children a healthy attitude towards food. If I ever get a bit odd about my food intake, you'll metaphorically kick me, right?

And, Tom, no cod? Noooooo. All fish is yummy. You've kinda got to like it in the uk, as you're never more than an hour or so from the sea. Mind you, most people seem to eat it cooked in batter with chips. Heart attack stuff.

Roz, safe travels. Hopefully it's a trip for fun rather than necessity.

Karen, keep on being awesome xxx

Lib, plyo legs = tough! You got it done, way to go. My DH and I want to get a hot tub for our patio.

Justine, I will keep you in check!!! ;) Have you ever done the premix with Cardio Supersets + the LIS Circuit Bonus? That is a workout on par with AB, if you ask me!

Tom, Justine, I would love a professional spotter to follow me around during my workouts. You two pull great numbers without a spotter, so I can only imagine what you would do with a spotter!!!

Karen, Roz, HEY!

I did KCM Lean Body Circuits. It was a typical Monday blech for me, so I did what sounded fun.

Good Morning Friends! Back day and back to the big 2,,lat pulldowns and deads. I raised lpd's 10# and did 8x8. For deads I went 205x8 225x8 255x6 275x3. I finished with hanging dumbbell forearm work and 2 sets of cable crunches. Off to vote, then inflict social oral justice!! Gotta work 3 days in a row...gonna kill me! There otta be some perks in being as old as dirt!! Have great ones Commandos!

Agree Karen, I love metabolic stuff too. Always my choice for recovery weeks. I just wish I had one sometime soon....

Tom, 3 days work- not fair during semi-retirement! Good work on the back.

Lisa, I did the cardio supersets premix with the step at the end. Even I could get the hang of that step routine!

HTS again today- 90 minutes. It's kicking my butt. I'm glad for all the extra carbs I get with RP on lifting days. I'm managing to nudge the weights up each workout. Nothing dramatic, but I'm pushing myself.

RP are releasing a women's workout tomorrow- body building/ hypertrophy / figure (or whatever the correct term is). I'm very tempted, but I did plan on doing Jen sinklers UP next... Too many decisions.

Roz, lib, hi! Have your legs recovered, lib?

Mmmm, may take the plunge. I think there's a one day sale for current RP folks. It's a spreadsheet with drop down options, and it calculates what weight / set and reps to use depending on the rating you give each exercise.eg, if the deadlifts have killed you one week, it adjusts to a lower volume until you've recovered. 19 weeks in 4 meso cycles (the final 4 weeks are strength rather than hypertrophy). You choose 2-6 days per week.

Tom, great chest workout today! There is no rest for the weary, no matter how 'mature' we are! I hope 3 days straight of work doesn't kill ya!!!

Justine, the new RP program sounds like it has a lot of cool features. I'm betting you'll buy!!! Congrats on the weight increases in today's workout. That's always good news!

Karen, enjoy your metabolic rest week. I love that kinda stuff too!

Hi to Lib, Roz.

I did my own Chest and Triceps workout today. Just the usual exercises, 10-12 reps, went as heavy as possible. I know that's still the endurance range, I just can't get myself to do the super duper low reps. No fun factor for me.

Good day to you all!

Today was a battle. Fought to get up...won that one. Fought to go to the dungeon...won that. Fought to workout, that one was a draw! Terrible day! Legs were on the schedule, but EVERYTHING was really uncomfortable, and I did 4 light sets of squats with no "loosening up", 3 sets of dumbbell static lunges and 2 sets of barbell calf raises and "packed it in"!! I wonder if doing legs after deadlift day is not a good idea. Better than nothing, but barely! Hope you guys fare better!! Happy "hump day"!

I'm having one of those days. At least I'm in good company.

I did great glutes today. No idea why, but I just fancied it. I need a 'great upper body' for tomorrow (any ideas Lisa?) I think I may get hamstring doms....

GG burns so good. Two UB suggestions for you: 4DS All UB Weights premix (67-ish mins) or, my personal fave, PUB.

Karen, Tom, I had a rough sleep too. Didn't want to get out from under the covers this morning! Tom, you got something in, and something can be better than nothing!!!

I did my own special Back, Biceps, Shoulders workout today. More of the 10-12 rep range. My Achilles tendon started acting up when I was walking down the stairs this morning. Still bugging me. That is no bueno for cardio!!!

Lib, are your muscles screaming at you today? :)

Howdy, Roz!

Hi all, training is great. But exhausting and sitting almost the full 10 hours.....ugh.

Lisa, I still feel my legs some today! And I did hot baths and Epsom salt last two days.....and I didn't use and weights for leg day (didn't have any). But they are better. I don't cringe when I sit, or stand.

Today is rest day.

The are talking possible ice tomorrow eve. Which means I need to be prepared to get a hotel room. If I miss any of this is raining, I don't graduate. Ugh. It will also throw off my workouts.

Hope all are well

Hey All! Shoulder day for me, not great poundages at all, but a lot of reps. I did 8 sets of strict press, but 5 of those at #100. I didn't have it for heavy stuff today, but I know its mental. I was doing my 5 sets at 100, and on the third set, I only did 3 reps. I was planning on doing all sets of 5, so I had a "talk" to myself, and my last 2 sets were x5?? Who would think lifting was a "freakin" MIND game!! For side laterals and rear delt flys I changed up and only used 10# plates and did 4x12 of each, but did them slow with straight arms and I felt them! Then were dumbbell shoulder press, 50's 2x8 and finished with dumbbell shrugs, 85's 2 x 30. It was better than yesterday at least! Have a great Thursday everyone!

Lib, holy cow, you won't graduate on time if you miss this training? Talk about stressful! I hope it all goes okay. Sitting for hours on end, especially with Plyo DOMS, can be tough. Hang in there.

Tom, you're so right, lifting is such a mind game. Way to trick yourself into it today!

What Tom said, Happy St Paddy's y'all. I don't know if anybody has a lick of Irish in ye, but we sure are stubborn when it comes to our iron lifting!

Today I did XTrain Legs, the premix that includes all sections.

Karen, Justine, Roz, hi!
