Lifting like girls

Absolutely killed myself today on leg day and NEVER went over 125# on squat! I decided to work on ROM and did pause squats, and they were "cheek to crete"! I went to catcher position on ALL squats today, and I can get there! I went till hammies rested on calves and paused before coming up. It was interesting, but I got there! 45x3 65x3 85x3 105x3 115x3 125x3. These were well below parallel and I could tell, never went heavy, but it felt like PLENTY! Next were rev lunges 3x6 at 115, barbell calf raises 115 (too lazy to change weights) x 35 x25 x20 x20.and finished with gob squats A to G again 3x8 at 50#. I was going to do glute bridges but will do another day. I feel like a wimp with these weights, but rom was definitely good, and I feel worked, so "good nuff"!! Happy tossing sistas!

Tom, I live almost an hour from campus, it took me an hour to get from middle of Springfield, to Northside, then just over another hour to get home. It was horrible.

Now I have to figure it t if I am going in for tonight's class. It's from 4-7, won't be bad going in (supposed to hit 34) but could be on the way home (after ice melts, then temps drop back to 24 again). Due to the type of class this one is, I loose a lot when I am not there, points and information.

Roz, thank you, and yes I am killing it......:) still slightly sore from all those push ups three days ago!

Time to hit back and triceps......

Tom, great rom on those squats- I'm with you about needing totally different weights for the really deep ones. And a pause as well.....awesome. I bet you'll hurt tomorrow.

Lisa- Portugal is a vacation with a purpose. We'll be squeezing orange juice and cataloging trees. But there'll be quite a bit of lounging around too. I'll be taking my bands, suspension trainer and discs. Of course!!! The house is on a steep hill, so I may even try the odd hill sprint....

Roz, glad that hand is not too damaged.

Day off for me today (and, yes, I spent it walking).

I've developed little pin prick marks on my torso, so I consulted dr Google. Apparently they're petechaie (?). So I looked up the causes- lots of scary sounding things including Rocky Mountain spotted fever. But down at the bottom of the list was weightlifting! Apparently they're just burst blood vessels from all the straining. Anyone else get them?
I'm slightly miffed that I didn't have some rare exotic condition!

GG Extreme premix for me today. As with other premixes, nothing 'extreme' about it other than it tacked on the optional chair/firewalker work. I really love the GG and LLA combo of workouts!

Roz, whoops! Sorry about the deload confusion, but YES, yes indeed you are just.that.tough! Great workouts for you. High maintenance toddlers, indeed! From what I hear, they don't get any less high maintenance as they get older. We're in for it! Glad your hand is feeling better. Hugs to you!

Tom, welcome back to the real world! You showed yourself NO mercy with your workout yesterday and then legs today. I have a friend who told me she always associates running with "punishment" since her middle school basketball coach always made them run laps when they screwed up.

Karen, HI there!

Lib, I have zero patience for traffic and slow driving, especially when it's weather related. Hope you stay safe no matter what. Use that extra time to do some UB stretches to soothe those STS DOMS!

Justine, I'm hoping your prick marks are just lifting related. Assuming that the medical health care is on par with the dental care, no? I laughed about those poor little oranges you are going to squeeze. They don't stand a chance, they're going to get squeezed to smithereens by your Commando muscles! It sounds like a fun trip. Besides your hill sprints I'm sure you'll manage to walk the entire perimeter of the country.

Good day to you all!

Just up from the "deltoid dungeon" and I feel like I hit it pretty good! I have never really done push presses, so I decided to lead off with some. 45x3 65x3 85x3 105x3 125x2 135x1. I think as we get older, explosive power takes a hit, so I probably need to work on these. Next I went to strict presses, 105x5 110 x2 x2 then back to 105 x3 x3 x3 x2. Rear delt flys 45's x 12 x10 x10 x10, dumbbell shoulder press (seated) 45's x12 x10 x8 x7, side laterals 25's x 12 x12 x12 and barbell shrugs 255 x20 x20 and finished with 5 sets of ab wheels x30 x20 x20 x20 x10. Lisa, in track I was good in several field events and used that as an excuse not to sprint! We were only allowed 4 events and I had a real "head issue" about the running ?? I still don't know why, I think they would have been good events for me, but I could get team points in the others and did those instead. Guess I was a real head case! Now that I have exposed to the world my "slacker side"! Hope this Thursday is great for all, get some iron Ladies!!( or sprint!!!) I will still take iron lol!

Tom, seriously, a slacker? No way, not with all that delt work. Sounds painful. Great weights.

I was out with doggie-minded friends today, for 6 hours, but I was a good girl and came home and did an hour's lifting. HTS, deadlifting day. I did 4x5 @ 87kg 'technique lifts'. Wore my belt, and it all felt good. There was other stuff such as paloff presses and TGUs and DB benching. I've got to admit that this programme is making my old body feel good, presumably with all the mobility stuff and varying rep ranges so much. Either that or the creatine has kicked in ;)

Lisa, I'll be squeezing the life out of those oranges, trust me. Our health service over here is very good, way better than the dental care. And it's all free! No insurance needed. We get a lot of 'health tourists', ie those moving here just to take advantage of the healthcare for a serious condition, and then moving back to their country once they're better. can lead to long waiting times for operations.

Hope everyone has had a great day.
Xx

Great arm day w/o!! I did tri sets, alternate bi and tri. First tri pushdown 80(up 10#)x8x8x8 /BBC 75 x8x8x8 ( first set was awful on elbows, but just got better and better) Next was skullcrushers 50's x8 x10x10/ BBC ( again but with 95#) x8x8x6 crossbody tri 35# x 8x10x10/ dumbbell curls 35's 3x8. I finished with diamond pushups x20x18x16/ conc curls 35# 3x8 Felt really good to get a full arm w/o in!! Hope all Commandos have a great weekend and safe travels for those who do!!

Great work Tom, glad the elbow was ok. Your BBCs put me to shame!

Hip thrusts for me today (4x7 @87kg too lazy to alter BB from yesterday's deadlifts!) plus lots of mobility work and core, reverse lunges and landmine rotations. Felt good. Nudged most weights up from last week.

How's everyone doing? Karen, have you started your KB stuff yet? Longing to hear all about it.

Xx

Chest shoulders and biceps done. I'm glad this is week four. I need that recovery week. :)
I am pushing and not letting ys of stop, but I feel weak this week.???

Great news! I did pics today, and there is drastic improvement in my legs! All over my body, but especially in my legs! The cellulite is at least 60% improved.....meaning gone! I could actually start wearing skirts again at this point!! If it wasn't freaking 24 all the time (f)!!

If I'm seeing this much improvement this soon, I cannot wait to see my legs at the end of this program set!!!!
Had to share.....I really needed that today too, bee a rough week.

Tom, slacker? Lmao! You are funny!
Lisa, Roz, Justine, hi!
Hope everyone is having a great week! My sons basketball team is in first place, they are in the beginning of the playoffs! Very cool!

TGIF, my Commando buddies.

Yesterday I did MM UB premix + LIS Challenge Bonus (Justine, you've really got to try this one! such a great add on!). Today, I did Amy Bento Kickbox Xtreme. Again, why the "extreme" in the title? I mean, it's not easy, but I wasn't dying at the end. Wore my pink Everlast boxing gloves. Tomorrow I hope for a Live TB.

Lib, terrific news on your progress! You're definitely working it, and you're body is showing it! Not to be a downer, but remember this feeling in the event that you plateau. I'm hoping that doesn't happen, but you never know. You're working so dang hard, you should feel so proud! Congrats to your son's basketball team and hope they win! What are your plans for active rest next week?

Tom, yay! A full arm workout! You've been good to those elbows, so here's hoping they reward you with some pain-free curls! (is that a reward? geez, we Commandos are nuts!) I'm laughing about your 'slacker' ways. I think you should really spin it this way: sure, you would've been great at the running, but you're such a people person that you wanted to be part of the team and help lead the track & field team to victory. Remember that line and use it when you run for President in 2020. ;)

Justine, so relieved that you were a "good girl" and lifted after your 6 hour walk. You've poo-poo'd (spelling?) your endurance but I don't know how your endurance is anything short of incredible if you have the energy to add HTS after walking. I'll say a prayer for those oranges you are going to obliterate. :) Interesting about the health care. I suppose that was what Obama Care was trying to do here in the U.S. I just get so turned off by the politics of it all...

Karen, Roz, waves to you both!

Justine, safe travels, and a lovely weekend to all.

Pink boxing gloves! AWESOME!!! Made me smile.

The team has won both games in the playoffs so far. I have training all day tomorrow, so I won't get to see the game :( I am so bummed! My son will get to play tomorrow.

I still have two more workouts before my recovery week.....I think stretching and some yoga will be in the books for that week. And catching up on reading. I missed a day last week, so am walking into a quiz cold ugh. Looks like the lecture was anatomy, so that won't be so bad..

I bought a deep freezer yesterday, and a lot of veggies and lean meat.....time to get my nutrition in check.

Ok, so I have 120 hours of internship to account for. Initially I was told I would count the training hours from last semester (39), the civil and family mediation (47), and then I could spend the rest of my time in my hometown working with the middle school to bring in peer mediation and circles for girls........the problem is the advisor FORGOT she said I could us last semesters training.....even though we had this conversation three times......last being a week ago Thursday........so she decided I can't use them......and now I have to pull 39 hours out of my @$$......I am livid, frustrated and more. It involves my graduation, started grad school.......etc......plus she FORGOT to set up the initial meetings with the middle school........and a letter of rec for my teaching posf for grad school.....

And I have 10 hours of training with her tomorrow.....might do leg day after............just because........I might need a release of severe levels.......UGH!!!!'

Ok, I have not always had the best nutrition. I don't remember if I said anything, but I broke down and bought a deep freeze and a ton of turkey, fish, chicken, lean pork, and veggies this week.

Been thinking about thinking about the training today. There is always bagels with various cream cheese (my favorite) and different pastries (ick). Then lunch varies, but not always best options (mediation is my second major, so I train here a lot)

So, I got up early, set up two snacks, each has: 10 almonds, five low fat cheese cubes, and turkey slices. I prepped my creatine, then protein drinks. Then put in some hummus and bell peppers. And spinach salad.

I CAN do this! Sharing this to help be more accountable. If they do Panera Bread for lunch, it is going to be tempting......I LOVE that place. (Going to ask Heather so not surprised, and drop a request for healthy options like their grilled chicken apple salad!)

Thank you everyone. I wouldn't have done all this without each of you. I am so glad I have had the chance to meet you all and am getting to know each of you! Thank you for your support!

Love your attitude lib. Having a plan is 90% of the battle, it removes the indecision when faced with not-so-healthy options.

HTS today- main exercise to report was front squats. 5kg more than last week, and 2" deeper (as measured by one fewer riser on my high step!). Happy with that.

Hope the weekend has kicked off to a good start for you all. Xx

Lib, way to go!. Eye on the prize, and that is YOU! Great work on depth and wgt increase Justine! Today for me was hodgepodge day. Wanted to hit several parts, and started with 2 sets of reclined leg lifts, 4 sets of lighter deads, 205x8 conv,x8 sumo, 225x8 conv, x8 sumo, strict press 95# x12x9, glute bridge, 245x25x20x20, pulley crunches, up10#. 3x16 chinups, 2x8 ( this still not tendonitis friendly) and finished with pushups,x30 x20. Hope it is a great start to everyone's weekend!!

Justine, yay! Deeper and heavier in those squats. High fives!

Tom, love looking at your mish-moshes. Terrific workout!

Lib, oh yeah, the pink boxing gloves are the best. A great way to get out the frustration and stress of life. Sorry about all the internship confusion and hassle. Ugh, I think we've all been there...thinking you have a great plan for work/school/whatever, and then you get hit with a curveball. You can do this, you are a fighter! Hooray for the freezer. We have a huge freezer in our garage and I swear it really is my secret kitchen arsenal. I can stock up on healthy foods when they are on sale (especially meats), and throw the excess in the freezer. Also, never underestimate the power of frozen fruits and veggies! Your plan sounds great, and you can always count on us to keep you accountable. Win, lose, or whatever, we've got your back.

Roz, Karen, hi!

Today I did ICE UB and LB Live from Thursday 1/21. Fun! As if you expected me to say anything else, ha!

Have a great Saturday night!
