Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA -- I have a lot going on AND my daughter seems like she's in a stage where she needs 110% of my attention, so it's hard to get away to post. Glad to hear you're all still killing it.
Justine, sorry about the tooth! But man, those HTS workouts sound really great. How does he discuss weight selection? Does he use percentages or is it just 'find the right weight' as with other programs we've done?
Yes, the cut has some around fast! I think I began maintenance around Dec 20 so in a week or so it will be a month. My weight feels very stable right now, which I think is the goal of maintenance. I'm not fighting to maintain (in either direction), and it wasn't a very serious massing phase, so I'm guessing I'm good to go. I might decide to give it another week as I deload in the coming week. Not 100% sure yet.
Lisa, I also love Bowie. He was a true artist. It's so odd to think that someone who was so often reborn/who so frequently reinvented himself can be really dead. So sad.
Really glad you're feeling much better.
Karen, wow, you've had some really amazing workouts! Fabulous deadlifts on GSF2. I love the sound of your DIY circuit, love all those lifts. I may steal that idea in the coming weeks.
Tom, nice job getting your bench work in in FL! Great work!
Lib, I hear you on occasional internet woes with streaming. Glad you're getting STS. As Lisa mentioned, the workouts are great to use even when you're not doing a full STS rotation. Great work on legs today!
I have two workouts to report. Today I did a little yoga and am resting.
Sunday was bench (last workout), I worked up to a single at 130#, so 5# over last week. It went up slow, but I did get full ROM (bar touching chest up to full lockout). Then backed off for a little more volume, but not much. I did all the same accessory work I've been doing for chest: close-grip bench, flys, skull crushers, front raises.
Yesterday was deads, I worked up to a single at 310#, 10# above last week. I was very happy about that. Backed off for a little more volume, but as with bench, not much. A superset of thrusts and chins, then just some light band work because my low back was pretty pooped out.
So I'm happy to say my 'total' is 640#!
I still have one more workout to do, OH pressing, probably tomorrow. Then I know I need a week to deload. I'll probably do 3 or so lightish weight days, just to drill technique, and maybe some metcon and/or cardio. Not sure about my next program.
When I start my cut (OK, maybe I'll wait a week till after my deload... what do you think? Any insight?), I'll probably just train by the seat of my leggings for a few weeks (well-rounded, but not preplanned, training), lots of volume. Then, I don't know... I might do UP or write my own program and use a lot of the info from UP (love their warmups, etc.). I feel like I know my needs better and better these days. There's also a LOT of really great info on programming from the Juggernaut people (Chad Wesley Smith, etc.), definitely worth looking into. But I won't start the next thing (UP or my own plan) for a few weeks.
OK, must run... my daughter is speaking in tongues to me! Sounds like naptime...
High fives all around
Roz
