Lifting like girls

Ok, only worked until noon today. So came home and did a premix of Crossfire to warm up. Then it was KB snatch 4X6@16kg. with 4X8 jump lunges, 4X10 bb strict press@65lbs.(these are my problem child) 4X10 db floor press@40lbs. with 4X10 T spine rolls, and 4X8 shin box. (another problem child)
So nice to be home early. I could get used to this. Have a great evening COMMANDO friends!

Hi everyone,
Running out the door, so just popping in to say I did the first half of ICE Low Impact Sweat -- loved it -- not easy! :) This will be a good cardio finisher, too.
Then -- not sure why -- I decided to follow through with plan of deadlifting even though I was tired. I just knocked out a few heavy sets, 255x3, 270x2 (PR), then just 265x1 then lazed out (relatively speaking) and called it a day. I set up for some RDLs, then once I picked up the bar I was like... nahhhh... ;)
Oh, part of my toastedness is that I did my own metabolic 45 min workout later in the day yesterday in case I didn't have time this morning.
I'm done! Gonna take two days of rest (with maybe some pushups and abs on the second day, not sure). May or may not be able to pop by here, but I'll be reading your exploits and cheering you on!!
Lib, sending all my good thoughts and prayers to you and your son. Hope you get that Xmas ride in! :)
Happy Holidays to all!
Roz

Roz, glad you just knocked out a 270 lift! Great work.

I've started week 2 of HTS. Got my weights correct and the workout felt so much better than last week. Basically I made a KB (50kg) for the KB deadlift.

Anyway, I now have my parents here, so I better crack on with the entertaining!

Big hugs to all my commandos-in-arms, have an amazing day tomorrow. Xxx

I am loving Justine's "European engineering"!! Roz, terrific wo..and as an afterthought!!! I'm real sure your PR was much more esthetic than mine and x2...Geeze, I'm in awe!!!You are going to smash that 600 thing!! I had a great shoulder wo today, couldn't do side laterals or front raises, but compensated with strict presses, doing 12 sets, 3 sets of rear delt flys , 1 set dumbbell seated press and 2 sets of dumbbell shrugs.Ohp's went 45x5 65x5 85x3 115x1 120x1 125x0 (no go) 105x5x4x4 95x5x6x6 85x6x6x5 75x10. I used 40s for rear delts x12 x12 x7 and 40s for 1 set of seated dumbbell press x10, 90s for shrugs x30x20. I was going to use a barbell for shrugs, but I couldn't get 205# off the ground!! I think heavy DL day followed by leg day left my lower body "tapped out"! This was a good week for me, I PR'd deadlifts and today I PR'd strict press at 120#. That's not tremendous, but it is for ME! At my age any physical PR that is not directly related to pill consumption is a GREAT PR! I echo Roz...you, my commando friends, truly inspire!!! Lib, sounds like a good call on the keloid. Karen, lisa, Justine, AMRAPs sound AWFUL!!! Lotsa work for the elderly, (Karen, you don't qualify for that elderly thing, you are "freakin amazin") Wishing my sistas the very best Christmas possible!!

Grrrrr...the ex's mom is so unfair to my youngest. So,after unwrapping gifts, he looked at his and said, "I really don't know how to respond to this." Then he went to his room and cried. Poor kiddo. He's almost 12 and she bought him a portable charger for a phone/tablet. Neither of which he has. And a magic box, for ages 3-7.

Thanks for letting me vent.

We went to Springfield, and then I did total body......UGH! I'm getting bored with T25.........grrrrrrr it's been a week and half....almost...sigh...going to keep trying for a bit. But this stinks.

Happy Holidays

Aw, Lib, hugs to you and your boys. I'm sorry for the family and health and life stresses you've been dealing with. :( Keep chugging away, will you? If you're bored of T25, move on to whatever excites. Nobody here...especially not me, ha!...expects you to do a full T25 rotation. You've got this. Can't keep a good woman down.

Tom, STANDING OVATION from the Commando peanut gallery. Two PRs is ridiculously awesome. So proud of you, bro. And way to keep working out smart and protecting your elbow.

Karen, I agree that workdays should end at noon. I would settle for a 2 hour siesta in the middle of the day as well, if I had to compromise. ;) Nice workout, you showed those "problem children" who's boss!

Justine, brilliant! Your kettlebell would make a lovely platter for the mincemeat. Have great fun with your family entertaining! Hope it is high on fun and low on stress.

Roz, so proud of you, girl. Loving your PR stats, but even more I'm loving your "once I picked up the bar, I was like....nahhhh" attitude. You are training so smart, and so balanced, and you have such a solid head on your shoulders. Just thinking about previous convos we've had....(((HUGS))) to you, Miss Bad A$$ All-Star.

So, yeah, I did Cardio Circuit Challenge Express Live (8/27/15). Roz, do THIS one for short cardio. It will get your heart pumping but not burn you out. I was going to do today's Live but Cardio Circuit Challenge keeps falling through the cracks so I wanted to make sure to do it at least once. This will be a go-to cardio, especially on days when I want to add cardio to a shorter heavy weight routine.

Merry Christmas to each and every Commando!!! No doubt Santa will be leaving each of you the good stuff, no coal!

Thanks, I needed that today. So very much.

T25 speed 1.0 done. Even tried to go for a run. Not ready for that. Sigh. But I reached my goal of half a mile. Did a run walk.

Questions......has anyone done JNL Fusion? I have it. I liked the lifting part. Wasn't ready to commit when I tried it. If you have tried it what are your thoughts? Also what about Jillian Micheals? I got body revolution Not long after it came out. I have several of her workouts, but she's intense, and kind of annoying.

Hi all, I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas, and are now stuffed full of yummy food! What traditions do you have for Boxing Day? We're off to a left overs party- basically you just pitch up with whatever bits of food you have going spare. There'll be a quiz at the party too. Always fun.

Lib, I've not done JNL fusion. I have done a lot of jillian Michaels though - love her or loathe her, I reckon she makes great workouts. Good metabolic stuff, great for weight loss. I like Bob Harper as well. They both have some tough workouts.

I didn't workout yesterday, but I have today-HTS. About an hour. The killer moves were goblet squats (333 count, that pause at the bottom is a killer) x15 reps, and squats with internal /external leg rotations at the bottom. Tough on the hip flexor, but probably very good for my mobility.

Looking forward to hearing about everyone's Christmas. Xx

Top of the morning to ye ladies!! Hope all had wonderful Christmas! I had to look up Boxing day Justine, had heard of it but wasn't aware of what it was about..really cool tradition! Yesterday I did manage a "back of the arm" day. 6 sets of skullcrushers 30s x12 40s x 10 45s x 8 50s x 8x8 40s x12. next 3 sets of tri pushdowns x10 x10 x8 and finished with tri pushups (feet on bench) x25 x20. I tried some light curls and it was a no go,but was able to do some iso short ROM using the other hand for resistance, starting at a flexed angle of about 100 degrees and moving to full flex angle. These didn't cause a problem so I did 10 sets of 10-12.(sumpin better than nuttin!!) Today was a core day, starting with crunches x50 x50, knee ins x 25 x25. Then I tried something different and used a close grip row attachment, held behind my neck and went elbows to knees (was kneeling). This provided a great ROM and I really felt it!! I did 3x10 and then 1x8 each side. I have a pulley system on my squat rack that I use for pulldowns and pushdowns and I hooked it up to that and wow..loved it! Next I was going to do straight leg deadlifts and had to lower the bar to the low rack, it had 85 on the bar so I did 2x10 military press then did 2x10 straight leg deads to warm up for deadlifts. For deads I went 205x3 (sumo) x3 (conv) 225 x3 (sumo) x3 (conv) 255x3 (sumo) x3 (conv) 265 x1 (sumo) x2 (conv). I finished with glute bridges 265 x15 x10 x10 Justine the 3-3-3 count sounds brutal, and the in and outs at the low end of squats do to, but may force the low end!! Happy Boxing day to all!!

Hey everybody. Thinking about doing something. However, I feel like a python that swallowed a pig. It's just kinda sitting there, as I drag myself along. I hate snakes, why did I think of that?
Lib, a co-worker let me borrow a copy of JNL Fusion. It was an ok workout, but some of the workout participants were annoying. Just my opinion.
I thought about checking out some of the sales today. But, the day after Christmas, is usually a zoo. Put that idea on the back burner.
Great work today, Justine and Tom.
Alright, it's time to drag this body into some workout clothes, and get the show on the road. Have a great day, everyone!

Great Christmas over here. Snow on the ground but sun was shining. Only complaint is that we tried to limit the 'stuff' under the tree and it still felt like way too much, and I swear I hardly even spent any money. Also recycled some of my childhood toys and gave them to DD1 as presents (why not?). She was totally confused by the original My Little Pony dolls from back in the day. Guess the ponies are much cooler now in her opinion.

Tom, cool use of the pulley system! Nice way to work your ROM too!

T25 speed 1.0 done. Even tried to go for a run. Not ready for that. Sigh. But I reached my goal of half a mile. Did a run walk.

Yay!!!!!!!! Loudest cheers ever for you, Lib. What Justine said about Jillian--tough workouts, usually on the shorter side but still effective. It's her on camera persona that bothers some. I find it okay most of the time. I couldn't ever get myself to buy JNL. The clips did not thrill me, I figured other stuff out there is better. Are you looking to get a full system of DVDs, complete with a rotation?

There'll be a quiz at the party too. Always fun.

Justine and Karen, I think, would equate quizzes with parties. Unless we're talking Wheel of Fortune or something, I'm out!!! Or maybe this is where the wine comes into play? Way to work it with HTS today.

Karen, maybe the python analogy is good since you don't like the feeling? Ah well, one day a year to indulge, NBD. I think the indulging every now and again is not only normal but a reminder of why we eat the way we do the rest of the time. Did you get in a workout today, or call it a rest?

Roz, happy traveling for you? Did you enjoy your Christmas and how did your DD do?

I squeezed in GS CT yesterday and today I did LIS Bonus Circuit Challenge + GS BSB.

Thanks everyone! No workout today. The storm killed my electricity so I went to town, ended up having to pick up one son early from visitation.

Lisa, I have so many workout programs, those were two I have, but hadn't gone through. I think it's about time to try Cathe's xtrain. I don't want to buy another program when I have so many I have and more I have never opened. I truly believe as long as I do one work a day, no matter what, I will still drop the weight. Right now I need to crack down on my nutrition

P.S. The DOMS were prominent today! My squats yesterday were deeper that I have ever done, more proof I'm getting stronger! I smiled everytime I sat down or stood up! I earned that sore!!

I will be honest. Not only have I given up the scale, but I can't look in a mirror. I see changes in my strength, but I still see the beached whale. Yes, I know I'm not "that" big, but it's really discouraging. So I am focusing on improvements. The slight changes in muscle. My thighs are big, but starting to feel like rocks. Little things like that. I also focus on getting through one to three days, not a month.

Whatever it takes. Thank you for your support. I know I'm way behind y'all, but not one of you have made me feel like it. Thank you.

Lib, no one is 'behind' anyone else. We're not on a straight line to some perfect body nirvana. Think of it more like a triangle, with different goals at each corner- maybe strength, cardio ability and fat loss. We're all somewhere different within that triangle. We might each have a corner we are heading towards at any one time, but it's impossible to head to all three corners at the same time. You've got a super-positive attitude. If the mirror discourages you, then don't feed the mirror troll! I can't weigh myself without turning into a self-hating, neurotic b!tch, so I don't. It's taken ages to see that, for me, I'm happier with flexing a muscle in front of the mirror, and just being happy with that (embarrassing revelation of my morning mirror posing!!!) Have you read this:
http://www.niashanks.com/stop-weighing-on-the-scale-for-weight-loss/

Anyway, great doms! I'm kind of missing not having bad doms at the moment, but I've to learn patience, and that I'm doing stuff now that will improve my lifting in 6 months from now.....I hope!

Lisa, you don't like a quiz? It's my idea of a fab party- I don't have to think of small talk, and everyone gets to join in, plus you get to see what your friends are really like! We played charades as well! A true leveller.

I haven't ever tried LIS bonus circuit challenge. Is it a goodie?

Tom, what a great inventive workout. I do t have a pulley, but I love doing pulley stuff with a band, so I might give it a go.

Karen, I can relate to the python analogy! I just hope I digest it all as quickly as a snake does! How are you liking the Nia bodyweight stuff? I've got to say, each phase is better than the last (I've harder). I'm doing phase 4, timed circuits. I need the cardio factor of something like this.

Roz, how was Christmas? I love hearing about little ones at Christmas. Loving Lisa's present recycling!

I've yet another party today...then that's it until new year. I'm exhausted!
