Lifting gloves?

How many of you were lifting gloves? If you do, what kind do you use? I was looking at some today at a sports store (was there for heavier dumbbells...thanks Cathe!), but there were so many different kinds to choose from. Some had suede palms, some had leather, some had breathable mesh, some had padding, some did not. Confusing!

Leather one can last a life time! if You have sweaty palm a breathable pair would be ideal. Padded are the most recommended as , especially while pressing a barbell for chest, the lifting would be comfortable while the bar is digging in.
Same while lifing for barbell row back.

Curling a dumbbell is also more comfortable with a padded gloves.

I do wear gloves a lot when I do heavy cycles which is the case right now.
I also use a figure of 8 straps while using my micro load gloves because they are not palm covered. I found straps helpful to grip better on my left arm.

All the best,

I honestly have several pairs as it depended on the type of workout I was doing. I would say that if you are going to lift heavier weights, leather is the best option. It offers great padding and protection for your hands and are well worth the money. I don't remember the brand I purchased, they are still packed from a recent move, but in addition to being leather they also had wrist support straps. I found those to be very helpful when I would use heavier DBs, BBs, and push ups (I have a bad left wrist so I need the support these days).

I have a pair of both Nike and Cathe brand gloves with the suede. Those were great for band work or days when I needed the extra grip, say a hot day. But I much preferred using the leather hands down.

I use Cathe's lifting gloves, and have had them for a few years....they have been great.....I suppose I ought to wash them one of these days though.... I use them at least 4 days a week...

I have some weighted gloves but they don't cover the area on my palms at the base of my fingers. I use them only when I want the added pound.
I have another pair... leather palms, mesh fingers, lightly padded. they cover the entire palm of my hand, fingers about half way up. I prefer those to prevent blisters and to improve grip. right now I swap back and forth as needed, but ideally I'd want gloves that covered the palm like second glove and had a pocket for adding weight.

I've purchased a few pair from Target. I think they're GoFit brand. They had them in Pink and I'm just a sucker for pink. Mine have lasted a very long time and I wear them for every weight workout. I wash them once in a great while, too.

As one poster said a long time ago, we DO wear our stuff out. So, yeah, it can depend on the quality of the glove and, even more so, how often we use them.
