Good Morning Gals

I thought I would do a week long check in this week. Gin is out of town, I maybe out of town, and Marcy is interviewing. We have no water today and maybe for the next 3 days. There is a water main break and our county is without water. Not that bad except for the bathroom thing---my older DS is NOT happy!!x( If its bad today, and still the official word is 3days, we may go to Jersey to my brothers. I would prefer to stick it out if I can though.....

But of course I still worked out!!!:7 }( LOL!!
chest and back:
chinups/pullups: I only did the pyramid to 3 chins/pulls today. I ended up doing 3 chins twice, because I couldn't pull out the 4th!

HIS chest and back-- I upped all weights again this week)
round 1:
1 arm rows warmup: 15 lbs (up 3#)
1 arm rows: 36.25# both sets (up 1.25#)
pushups: did them, both sets
round 2:
bb rows: 70# both sets (up 5#)
incline db flys: 30# both sets-up 2.5# (surprisingly, easier than I thought)
round 3:
1 arm rows elbow out: 25# (up 2.5#)
pushups: done
round 4:
incline pullover(held weight diff than cathe) 25# (up 2.5#)
incline press: 65#bb!!(I had a REALLY hard time getting the weight up with the incline and into the starting position, again! This was a challenging weight for me!) also up by 2.5#
round 5: band/pushups: done }(

Love the plate mates!! really are great for upping your weights by increments!!

Gin~ Are you sore today? that is a tough workout you did yesterday! Have a great trip and visit this week!

Marcy~ Good luck on your interviews. Keep us posted. Did you workout today?

I am not going to post meals, not sure what I'll be eatingx( with no water!
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies!

Today I ran and still plan to do LIS abs before I leave for the airport.

Deanie-- So sorry that you don't have water!! That is not good. I would seriously consider staying somewhere else if it goes on for more than a day! 65# barbell??? YIKES! Yeah, that would be tough for me. Like, never will happen!
I am not sore today.

Marcy--How are you? We missed hearing from you this weekend.

Have a great week and I'll be back Thurs. aft.
Gin:)

Hi again, latest update: 8-10 hours and we will have water again:7 :7 Off to buy some gallons of water......

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. I had a rest day. I started to do Strike Zone but then DH interuppted me and I never got back to it so my rotation is going to be a little off this week.

I did Strike Zone this morning. I have to admit I was a little disappointed after all the hype. There are 12 "strikes", the first one being a warmup and the last one being a cooldown. I really wasn't happy with strikes 2-6. It felt very choppy and she wasn't on the beat. The moves weren't hard but it just didn't flow very smoothly for me. On the other hand, I did like strikes 7-11. These were more combos and went much more smoothly with the music.

Strike 7 - jab, cross, upper cut, upper cut, slip, slip
Jab, jab (moving forward), shoulder strike
Hook, upper cut, roundhouse (2x)

Strike 8 - Jab, cross, hook, upper, "grab hair", hammer down, 4 fast knees to chest
front kick, back kick (4x)

Strike 9 (the toughest) lots of upper body moves
Hi block, low block
Spider webs (on the floor) on all fours, first stomach facing down, then rotating on arms and legs so that stomach is facing up. I'm sorry if I'm not explaining it well. Then she did wide arm, wide leg pushups, then elbow to knee from plank position, then a pushup into a side plank alternating sides, then core crushers (from plank position, opposite knee to elbow). I think there might have been another move but I can't remember. I have to admit I couldn't complete a lot of this section.

Strike 10 (with Josef)

Jab, cross, elbow back, 2 upper cuts
Double arm strike forward, cross, pull back with elbows, step, back kick

Strike 11
In horse stance, block R, L, reach both hands out, pull in, pull hair, front kick (2x), step side, block, 2 side kicks fast (2x)

I also did LIS abs and stretch and I alternated trying to do the chin up/pull up pyramid in between strikes. I really only got up to 2 chins/pulls.

Tomorrow I'll probably do all of HIS/Chest & Back (weights first), Wednesday, Legs, then Thursday, Bis& Tris & Shoulders but I might do shoulders on leg day.

No interviews today. Went looking for a shed for the backyard.

Deanie - So glad your water situation improved. I know no matter what obstacle, you always get a workout in. Very impressive workout. I can't wait to get a barbell again. It's not the same doing the workout without it

Gin - Have a good trip. Let me know how you like Strike Zone. I hope you'll be able to check in while you're away.

Have a great day!

Marcy

Good Morning :)

Today was LIS step and abs. A fun workout, not to hard and just what I needed. (got my "friend" last night and was not in the mood for a hard workout- sorry if TMIx( )

Marcy~ I agree with you about LIS abs, long, and not my favorite. How was HIS today? Any interviews today? did you leave your weights in NY? I remember you were thinking about it. I saw a lot listed on Craigs list, maybe worth a shot for you...?

Gin~ I hope you are having a nice visit:)Did you get a workout in?

Water was back yesterday at 2ish and it was very nice to shower today:7 :7 (the water was gross yesterday) We still have a 3 day boil all water you are going to use mandate, but we have enough bottled water, we should be okay.

Meals:
pre: dried dates
b:steel cut oats/orange
s: apple and pb
l: leftovers from last nights dinner: orzo/beans/morningstar farm chicken patties and green beans

Good Afternoon!

I wound up able to do 4DS Shoulders last night:

Pyramid Overhead Press: 8, 10, 12 and 15 (same)
Seated Isolation Press: 15# (did all reps but rested between 2nd & 3rd set)
Upright Rows: 18# (I think I could go to 20# next time)
Standing Lateral Raises: 13# (up 3# on second set)
Bent Arm Lateral Raise: 13# (up 3#)
Seated Front Rear Raise 12#
Rear Isolation Flyes: 10# (might try 12# next time)

I wanted to do Chest & Back this morning but my elbow was really hurting me so I just did HIS. It's been a long time since I did this one. Was out of breath on this one. Maybe I should have used my inhaler before I started. I haven't had to use an inhaler in almost a month and am trying to not have to use it.

I also did MTV Pilates Mix: 2 leg workouts and the bonus routine (also a leg workout) - 23 mins.

Meals:
B - 1/2 c egg whites and 1 egg with scallions and spinach and Arnold Double Protein bread.
L - shared a meal at the mall with DH - Bourbon and Pineapple chicken and rice and ziti with carrots
S - Fiber One Yogurt and cherries or blueberries
D - Tilapia and Veggies

Deanie - Thanks for mentioning Craigs List. I have to go check them out. Glad you were able to get a shower in. I know I can't sleep if I feel all clammy. Interviews are non-existent so far this week. I'm going to update my resume a little bit and send it out again. I'm now signed up with 4 agencies. A couple of them said things were picking up a bit but my phone's not ringing.

Gin - Hope you're having a nice vacation. Did you do Strike Zone yet?

Have a great day!

Marcy

Good Morning

Today was 4DS bi/tri/shoulders. A good workout, if we were doing this one more week, this is where I would leave my weights. They were challenging today}(

Lots going on today. I am going to try to talk to a "party planner" about my DSs bar mitzvah, I need some direction and have some questions, and I need to find a piano for my younger DS to practice on. He is interested in the piano, and still wants to play the guitar. We aren't going to buy a piano just yet, so I need to find a way for him to practice. I've asked friends, but no one has a piano or keyboard, so I am going to ask the principal from his elementary school if we can use the one in the school

I hope your elbow is feeling better.

Gin~ Hey chicka:7 hope you are having fun!!!

Have a great day

Hi Girls!

No workout yet for me today. I didn't get to sleep until after 2am and got up at 8:30. My elbow is still bothering me slightly. I'm going to try and get a workout in later. We went out today and ordered a shed for the backyard (our last big purchase until we get jobs). I sent out a few more resumes today.

Believe it or not, I actually applied to a start-up fitness company who was looking for people to be background exercisers and assist in the production of fitness videos. Haven't had a reply yet but figured it was worth a shot.

Meals:
B: Kashi Healthy Heart cereal; still hungy so I had a bagel.
L: Subway 6" Roast beef sandwich with green peppers, red onions, lettuce and tomato, mayo & oil and vinegar
S:
D:

Deanie - Your workouts have been fabulous! Great job!

Waves to Gin! We miss you!

Have a great day!

Marcy

Good Morning :)

I am getting a late start today, I slept in without meaning too!:+
Today is HIIT on the treadmill and B&G abs and stretch, so off to do that in a moment!

Gin~ Hope you are having fun! Miss ya!

Marcy~ WOW, wouldn't that be perfect for you and fun, to workout and work**ha ha**!!:) I also have found the Kashi cereals are good, but lately don't fill me up.

Meals:
pre: handful dried dates
b: steel cut oats/orange
l: orzo/beans/soy chick. patties (yes, still left over, today is the last day)
s: yogurt and strawberries
d: either some kind of fish, or beans and rice
s: mahjong tonight, so I'm sure I'll be snacking!

I've got an afternoon appt. with a party planner (for the bar mitzvah)! I know her, and I'm hoping she doesn't charge to much!!! I really think I can use one, mostly for the help she can give me on the day of the bar mitzvah: setting up the party room before everyone gets there and taking care of little things so I don't have to on that day. Also she has a 20% off on invitations, and that would be good too!

Have a great day!
Deanie

Okay, finished my workout. I am seeing really great results from this rotation so far! My TOM has ended and I'm not so bloated anymore, and I am noticing how defined I am!!:) Not sure I want to stop after this week. I'm wondering if I should do a total of 6 weeks on this rotation and 2 weeks of muscle endurance before we start PS or just continue with the rotations as planned. Is there a "rule of thumb" to go by?
Any thoughts?????

Deanie

Good Afternoon!

I did Chest & Back this morning:

1 arm rows (warmup): 15#
One arm Rows: 30# both sets
Underhand Rows: 46# both sets
Chest Flyes: 23#
One Arm Rows (Wide Flye): 30#
Incline Pullovers: 20# (5# more than last time - that's as much as I could hold in my hands - put 5# ankle weight on each arm and a 10# dbbl)
Incline Press: 23#

My elbow was still bothering me a little bit but it's getting better.

Meals:
Pre-workout: 1/2 c blueberries
Breakfast: Cinammon Raisin bagel and peanut butter
Lunch: Bourbon Chicken, whole wheat pasta and veggies
Snack: Reduced Fat Ice Cream
Dinner:

I saw a barbell set at Sports Authority. It was the barbell with 80# of plates for $69. Didn't get it yet but probably will. Tried going on Craig's List and saw a couple of free weight sets but didn't get any responses. Going out dancing tonight.

Will probably do legs tomorrow and maybe try to run.

Deanie: Good luck at Mah Jongg tonight and with the party planner. I think you could continue with this rotation for another 2-4 weeks. I think I'm with Gin as far as doing May '08 rotation (GS & PS). It's been awhile since I did GS and that's probably my favorite split series.

Hi Gin!

Have a great evening!

Marcy

Good Morning :)

Today is 4DS legs and I am going to change the way I do my chins/pulls. I am going to alternate them every other round after legs. I have decided I am going to do 2 more weeks of this rotation. This weeks weights have been really challenging for me, and I would like to do the same weights at least one more week. The less cardio has surprisingly worked REALLY good for me:7

I found a keyboard last night, for free! One of the women I play mahjong with has one I can borrow. My younger DS wants to play the piano and this is the best way to start! I tried to borrow a piano from 2 elementary schools and the jr. high, and was told no each timex( (we were going to come into the school to practice)

Not sure what I'm eating today, but posting here has helped me keep in line, so....
pre: 1 hard boiled egg white
b: protein pancakes and orange
s: apple and pb
l: rice and beans
s: ww shake (yesterday had hummus and pita, couldn't use the ice yet)
d: its friday so...2boca chicken patties, broccli steamed and challah:9

Marcy~ The set at S.A. sounds good! Hope you enjoyed dancing last night! good workout yesterday}(

Good Morning Ladies!

I am so glad to be back and I missed our check-in!! My parent's computer had bit the dust and they were not interested in repairing it.:-( I enjoyed my visit. Saw my brother and his family, lunch with friends, and cleaned closets for my parents. My nephew (8) came over and I had him doing 4ds BC!! It was so funny I took some pics. He was worn out!:7
Haven't worked out yet today. Planned to run but it was raining. I will do 4ds lower body, B&G abs and maybe LIC cardio.
since Monday:
T--Strike Zone
W--4ds KB abs, SM1
Th--4ds BC
Meals were pretty good. I had lots of veggies and fruit. But, my dad keeps those little Dove dark chocolate hearts in the fridge...yum!:9

Deanie--Glad you survived the water being turned off.:( How was the appt with the bar mitvah party planner? Is your ds's bar mitzvah this fall? I'm glad you found a keyboard to use. How is is that you always see reuslts with the rotations that we do and I never see any results?? UNFAIR!;-)

Marcy--I agree with your comments about Strike Zone. The beat of the music seemed to be off from the routine and the camera work was terrible. There would be a shot of someone's face when I needed to see their full body to follow the pattern!x( I will say that I like their fun personalities and I was sore the next day.
How is your elbow today?
The fitness job sounds like fun and something different!
Glad you will join me for a month of GS and PS. I'll probably change the cardio a little.
How was dancing last night?

There was a lot to catch up with!:p
Have a great day!
BBL,
Gin:)

Welcome Back Gin!!:) We missed you!

Gin~ Welcome back! It sounds like you had a really nice visit! Funny you did BC with your nephew, I was wondering if my DS11 would want to do it with me! Sometimes he wakes up early! the party planner was good, I am definately going to use her the day of the bar mitzvah and for a sounding board for what I should be doing when. I will probably get the invitations from her, she offers a 20% discount, and the party favors too. I am looking at centerpieces and she is too, so I'll see what she comes up with. She will make that day a lot easier for me:7 His bar mitzvah date is 10/24/09! I don't know if I always see results, sometimes I just feel like I'm looking good;-) and I call it good results!:p With the last rotation for the legs, I lost inches (a few) and with this rotation I feel "tighter", not sure if I look any different though.:+ Did you ever get the plate mates?

Marcy~ How is your elbow? Hope you are having a nice day!:)

Deanie

eta: menu changes
s: was running around doing errands: 1/2 protein bar
l: had to use up the last of the tofu, so had it in stir fry! w/1 1/2peices of matzah

Good Afternoon!

I had to change the rotation around since I rested the other day. Today I did Squeeze legs and abs (everything except AB "C" Abs). Lots of inner thigh work squeezing the ball (which she also does while doing crunches). This one is very similar to Super Callanetics but it's not as boring.

I got my barbell set! It's 100# - 15# bar and the rest plates with spring collars. My workouts will be much easier now. I'd also like to get the Plate Mates. Deanie, can you tell me how much they were?

Dancing was great last night. I knew both of the dances they taught but it was still good. The open dancing is great. There's a DJ and then a live band. I met a few more people and got invited to a July 4th BBQ.

I'm going to start taking my measurements again so I can see what's working and what doesn't.

Deanie - I'm glad the party planner worked out for you and that you were able to get a piano for DS. I saw your rotation about inches in hip loss and think I might try it after next month. I was also thinking about putting in Legs & Back from P90X in next month's rotation since I made a lot more progress with chins and pulls when I did Legs & Back in the X. I'm also amazed at all the positive results you get in your rotations. Of course, you eat so well and that's a big part of it.

Gin - Welcome back! You were missed! I think it's great your nephew was doing Boot Camp with you. I know he was worn out but did he like it? Aside from the beat in Strike Zone, did you like any of it? My elbow is pretty much all better now. I'll probably change the cardio a little too in next month's rotation.

Not to say that you also don't eat great!

Meals: (still not that great)
Breakfast: 1 egg and 1/2 c egg whites with spinach and onion and Arnold Double Protein bread
Snack: Fiber One Bar
Lunch: Burger King - 2 whopper juniors and 1/2 large fries (it seems we're always out around lunchtime and getting fast food).
Dinner: ? Maybe tilapia and veggies.

Have a great weekend! I'll try and check in as much as possible.

Marcy

Hi Girls!

We have had problems AGAIN with our internet connection and I thought for sure I would have missed you girls, but I see I didn't miss a thing. Where are you?
Today I ran and planned to also do yoga or pilates, but have had a stinking headache and don't feel like it.:( I did buy a chin up/pull up bar today at Sports Authority. DH has to install it in the basement doorway.
Yesterday I ended up doing 4ds lower body, B&G abs and then BMax2 cardio. (90 min.) NO internet connection afterwards so I couldn't tell you all that I did it! We have had 4 repairmen come out here so far!

Deanie--Sounds like things are going well with the Bar Mitvah plans. Was today your rest day? NO, I still haeven't ordered the plate mates! But I will. Is your DH in TX now? Tell me what he says about it. It has been HOT here!

Marcy--My nephew seemed to like BC but he really just wanted to do the stretch at the end!;-) He is not nearly as physically active as he should be. They have both watched me do Cathe workouts so many times and know who she is. Funny!:) I liked Strike Zone okay, but it just made me appreciate how well done the Cathe dvds are!! They are just in a class of their own!!

Have a good evening!
Gin:)

Good Morning Gals

Today is 4DS KB and abs, so I am off to do that in a moment.
Yesterday was a really busy day, DH leaving tomorrow and parties, and today is another party. I hope it doesn't get rained out! I woke up late, and took the day off from working out.

Gin~ sorry about your computer! I know when we had no electricity and no computer, I felt so cut off from the world! Its a weird feeling. DH is in TX tommorrow at noon! He will be there for 2 weeks, which is the longest we've ever been apart! I am going to miss him:(!! What workout did you do today? Your workout yesterday was killer!!}( 90 min is a long time!

Hi Marcy! I hope you are having a fun weekend! I think you asked how much I spent on my plate mates. I don't remember, but I got them at https://www.fwonline.com/plate.htm. I bought the 1.25 plates. I got the hex pair, and they work with my bb. I just attach them to the weight, not the bar. Oh, and congrats on the bb purchase!:)

Have a great day
Deanie

Hi Girls!

I had a great workout this morning. Did Boot Camp/Tris & Bis weights first premix, B&G Stability Ball Abs and B&G Stretch. It was much better having a barbell now. My set also came with the short dumbbell handles too. I think I either have to buy 3# weights or I'll just wait and get the PlateMates.

Tris: Tricep Overhead Extensions: 15, 20, 25, 30 (felt good but I'm going to try and go up this week.
Bis: Standing Hammer with Twist: 15s and 18s (up 3# on each)
Standing Traditional Curls: 18# (up 3#) and 20# (same)
Tricep Lying Extension with BB: 35# (will go up next time)
DB Lying Extensions: 15# (all reps including partials except for last rep of partials went down to 13#)
Incline Hammer Curls: 15# (up 3#)
Double Arm Seated Hammer Curls:15# (up 3#)
Used heavy band on triceps
Hanging Concentration Curls: 20#
Wrist Curls: 12# for first 8 reps; 10# for second 8 reps

Stability Ball Abs were good but not tremendously challenging.

Meals: B - Cinammon Raisin bagel and peanut butter
S - Fiber One Bar and Fiber One yogurt
Not sure about rest of meals

I've been writing down my diet again so hopefully things will improve.

Deanie: Hope you can survive missing DH! 2 weeks is a long time. Thanks for the website. Did you also have a recipe for steel cut oats? I finally got them but don't know what to do with them.

Gin - Hope the chinup bar works out for you.

Have a great day!

Marcy
