Leg workouts for leaning out...

Hi All!

What Cathe leg workouts have helped you thin down and lean out the butt and legs?

TIA!

A huge part of leaning out in any part is diet. I also think mixing up rotations for your leg workouts is also key. Muscle confusion brings those suckers to attention, pronto. I am constantly changing rotations every few weeks. I do VERY heavy, super sets, drop sets, pyramid, endurance, etc.

As far as Cathe workouts go, changing hers up also works wonders. Now which do I love a lot? Well....MM, ME, HSTA, GS legs, PH, MIS come to mind.

Hi Again,

Just to add some more -sometimes it seems I do the GS series and then my pants feel tighter, however, I don't think there's too much heavy lifting in it? What does everyone think of the following - lighter weights?

B&G Leg Blast Premix
Leaner Legs - does it do what it says :)
Legs and Glutes

S&H and PS would be more bulk. Thinking I'd try incorporating legs once a week and then keep GS for the upper body for a bit.

I try and eat the best I can, I'm a cardio junkie - so I love doing that. My thighs are very muscular and "large" and I'd like to keep the definition but thin them a bit :)

When I was on the X, my legs leaned out a little during the recovery weeks. The X doesn't have any heavy weight leg work. For legs, it only has plyo, high reps, kickbox, and balancing poses. I think my legs slimmed down because my bf% went down. And, the only time I was holding onto extra fluids was during the rest weeks.

I have to agree with the previous poster about it being diet. My legs leaned out big time when I was in Thailand last year. I didn't work out, just walked and ate cleaner. However, my body fat % wasn't lower. I lost strength and endurance when I came home. And, my bf% got worse as soon as I started eating processed foods.

I am a total pear - nice calves, nice upper body, small waist and nice tummy but chubby, dimpled thighs and a nice round booty and what's worked for me is high rep low weight work (I do my own thing) and pyramid (PLB) alternating between the two every 4-5 days. I have fabulous results every single time I do that rotation and don't really change up my eating.

I don't know about Cathe w/outs but I have been training for a half marathon so I haven't been doing lower body weights plus I'm running 30 miles a week and my legs are at their leanest. That was a really bad run on sentence but I think you get my point. LOL. How have you been Jane?

Hi LaDonna!

Good to see you!! I've been well - enjoying the little cooler weather and football, but not looking forward to winter!!

Awesome on the marathon! My sister's an avid runner, but it's so hard for me however, I love doing Imax mish moshes. Hats off to you, running is awesome!! When is your marathon?

Hope all has been well for you!!

As some have mentioned, lighter weights with higher reps, lunges, etc. I like Leaner Legs too.

What might work for you is a freestyle type of rotation. Do a search on this forum for "freestyle".

It has been a highly posted topic quite a few times - comes around here and there.

Hi-

I agree with the other posters about diet.. that part is totally key.

I'm a pear so I can relate to wanting to lean out your legs. I work my legs hard 1x/week in strength training. I mostly work my legs at the gym using heavy, lower rep (8-10 ) sets... squats, lunges, deadlifts, etc. In a month, I do that type of workout 3x, and then 1 week of the month I'll do either B & G, or Leaner legs.

I think what type of cardio you do will also effect your legs.. I run 3x/ week ( 4 miles) and the other days of the week I do kickboxing, arc trainer, or a step workout. I think running and kickboxing are great for leaning legs as well.

Take care, Lynn M.

I have stopped doing any heavy weight work for my legs and concentrate on running (cardio coach) and floor work with no weights. My legs are looking the best that they have in a long time. I also try to do yoga at least 2x a week.

I'm bottom heavy (pear, I guess) and after years of doing endless squats, lunges, etc., with no significant improvement, I think I've finally found what works for me!

I'm a pear too, and running combined with hi-rep/low weight workouts (and vids like Leaner Legs) work best for me. When I get the motivation I'll also do a barre rotation. If I do barre consistently my legs look fabulous. Sadly, I find they have a huge dread factor.
