...we come! Hubby & I just celebrated our 31st. anniversary the end of last month and weren't able to get away. Soooo, he got busy this past week and put an awesome trip together for the two of us! I can hardly wait. We leave on the 22 for over a week! One of my hi-lights will be getting to meet our own AndreaL from here at Cathe's place in person for the first time. Andi has taught classes for me out in NV, but we have never met face-to-face! (Hi Andi, can wait to see you!!!!) She's been sooo kind to offer to pick us up for dinner one night and bringing her DH along too! I have another very good friend & her hubby that moved out there a year ago that we will be spending time with also. The four of us are hoping to get to the Grand Canyon as they have never been there either. Another exciting things is that my hubby bought tickets for us to go see Celine Dion, Cher and the musical "Mama Mia"! Who will have time for gambling? Gamblers, we're not, but we may have to try a slot or two! (Just to say WE DID IT!)Any must-do's that anyone can recommend would be appreciated. I'll still be around here for two more weeks (posting away I'm sure) but wanted to share my HAPPY news with all my friends!

Gotta do Hoover Dam, we went to Las Vegas 2.5 years ago and had a blast. Dh goes on business/class and took me along for our 11 th anniversary. Hoover Dam is a must, we also went to Red Rock Canyon, it was fun too. We are actually thinking of going back in Oct. because he has another class to take and the grandparents said they would take the boys again.:D We went in January before so it was on the cool side, but if we go back in October then it will be pool weather and I can lounge around the pool while dh is in class :7 so that will be nice!!

Have fun and play the slots just for fun!!:p

Congrats on your anniversary and your trip!... I live in Nevada and, even though we are 8 hours away from Vegas, go there often. My aunt lives less than 2 hours away in St. George. The only MUST I have in mind is that you walk the strip at night... It has to be at night, and you have to walk. YOu miss lots of stuff otherwise... And it is deathly hot there during the day (my car broke down several times a couple of weeks ago in that area... on the way to California and on the way back because of the heat). Another word of advice... I don't know where you'll be staying, but do not stay at the Stratosphere. Cool place, but the hotel room walls are paper thin and their maids have this dire need to sing at the top of their lungs early in the morning. Miserable :( . Other than that, most hotel casinoes are very decent. And I've heard the Blue Man Group is wonderful, too. But I have yet to see it. My BF and I are going down at the end of this month to see the shows.

Have fun!!!!!!!! Oh, and many Casino buffets are out of this world, too. I will ask my aunt and find out where the best ones are if you are interested.

Hi Debbie!

Have a blast in Vegas! I moved there right after I graduated from high school in 1974. I was only 18, so too young to go to any of the casinos or the shows. We did sneak in a couple of times.}( We saw Freddie Printze on his honeymoon, Liberace walking in the mall, and Totie Fields at a basketball game. Way back then you could drive through the strip, but now it's closed off to traffic. One thing we did take advatage of was the buffets! Have a good time. And if you win any money on the slots, remember who your friends are!:p

Hey gf!
That's exciting news! I'm soo happy for you!
You are gonna have a blast with all that you have planned!
Enjoy!;-)

Thanks Everyone!

Annette~I have both places marked down. Will try to see them both! Hope you get to go out in October. What NICE grandparents you have!

Sara~Walking the Strip is one on my priorities. We will definitely do that. Quite a few times I hope! We are staying at the Aladdin. Hoping the walls are NOT thin! I have seen the Blue Men Group on TV before and was never impressed but friends who have seen them at shows say the show is awesome??? Yes, would be very interested in knowing which buffets to choose. OH BOY, we are in TROUBLE!!

Sherry~you lil' sneak! UNDERAGE!!! Are you sure the Strip is closed down to traffic? I have heard that it is bumper-to-bumper cars/taxis and not to drive anywhere, just walk! What fun you must have had seeing some "STARS" while there. Ha! Totie Fields!!! What a riot! Hope we run into someone. Hmmmm, if I win, I will have lots of friends to split my winnings with! :7 Remind me to tell you all about a friend that went out to Vegas a couple months ago!

Thanks Franci! We are so excited about the trip! I can't believe how much we have planned already! Not sure we will get ANY sleep!

Thanks everyone for your tips. Keep them coming!

Congratulations on your anniversary! I just got back from Las Vegas. Check out Mandalay Bay if you aren't already staying there. It gets my vote for most beautiful casino and best buffet (but expensive buffet). If you like sushi, there is an all you can eat sushi buffet at the Alladin's mall called Todai. Excellant hand rolls! There is also wonderful, but expensive, shopping in that mall (alas, I could only window shop). Best drink value we could find was at Barbary Coast (next to the Flamingo) which had drinks for $1 and you don't have to be gambling.

If you get a car and you like the outdoors try going to Red Rock Canyon (not far from Vegas at all) or, my favorite, Valley of Fire (about 50 miles northeast of Vegas). Very beautiful desert areas, especially Valley of Fire.

It is hard to believe, but last week it was actually sort of cool in Las Vegas because of some thunderstorms and cloud cover moving through the area. But, it got very warm the last day we were there. I hope you have lots of fun!

Debbie!!

Have a GREAT time!! I saw "Mama Mia" here in Chicago and it was a blast!!! You will love it!!! All the Abba hits are part of the musical and the story is very sweet!

Congratulations on 31 years! That is really wonderful!!

Valley of Fire gets my vote, too. It's gorgeous! I was there about 2 weeks ago at sunrise. Sunset is suppose to be even better. I will do my best to get you that buffet info :). Breakfast buffets are killer, too. Enjoy... :) I think you can tell we are all excited for you :) Vegas may be getting more "customers" soon :D

Dani and Sara!

Dani~we saw Mama Mia in Toronto and my hubby, who thought he wouldn't care for shows/plays/musicals, is hooked. It was awesome! We liked it so much we decided to go back. Fun, fun music too! LOVE Abba! Thanks for the congrats! I got myself a GOOD one! http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/smlove2.gif

Hi Debbie,
Congrats on the anniversary, we had our 30th in March. My husband is taking me to Las Vegas for my birthday this month on the way to California for his 30 year class reunion. I was so excited when he told me he had booked Celine Dion on my birthday, then I went shopping and came home and he handed me a paper showing he had ordered me the Blast DVD's just because he knew I wanted them. He is such a sweety. I am really looking forward to our vacation. You definitely need to go see the Grand Canyon it is really awe inspiring. We took the family and stayed on the rim overnight. Hoover Dam is interesting too. We have been there quite a few times. It is always changing. I am sure you will have lots of fun.

Oh, Debbie, I am so happy for you! Have a great time! It is really a city centered on fun.

Let us know how your trip was when you return. Cheers!

Sue and Connie!

Sue, congrats on your anniversary also. AND, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Wow, Celine, Blast DVD's AND shopping. How special! Sounds like you got yourself a GOOD one too! What night are you going to see Celine? Wouldn't it be great if we were there the same night? I am not sure which night we are going. I will find out. We are staying at the Quality Inn Grand Canyon which is at the entrance on the south ridge. Also, we plan to see the Hoover Dam too. Have a great birthday and enjoy Celine.

Connie~I will definitely be yapping about my trip when I get back. We can hardly wait. Thanks, I AM HAPPY! :7

RE: Sue and Connie!

I sent you an e mail to let you know when but haven't heard back. I am not sure I am doing that right as I have sent them out to others before and not heard back. We will be seeing Celine Dion on the 27th. Shopping:7 There are so many great places to shop. The Mall at Ceasars is one that we usually go to. Also there is a Mall close by that has a lot of good shopping. We stayed at the original hotel on the rim at Grand Canyon. It has a great restaurant that you can get seating overlooking the Grand Canyon. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of it. We have stayed at Excaliber, Ceasars Palace, and the Monte Carlo. All excellent places. We are meeting friends in Vegas also. Maybe we will see you there.

Hi Sue!

:-( We are going the night after you. We will be seeing Mama Mia on Wednesday night. I will keep my eyes peeled for you on the Strip! I just went back thru my deleted E-mails and found yours. Sorry, I thought it was more "junk" mail since we have been getting tons about Vegas since we booked our trip. The title only said Vegas. Thank you for responding. Hoping to get some :7 shopping :7 in also! Thanks for all the info.

Andrea

Hey Andi!

We have you penciled in for the 29th.! We will be at the Grand Canyon the first weekend. We can work around your schedule and ours if anythings changes for you. Not sure if you tried to call last night??? Our power was out and neither our regular phones or our cell phones would work. It was awful but we survived! :7 Can't WAIT 2 C U!
