Knee Issue

Hi All,

Hope all is well.

Has anyone ever had knee issues?? My knee started aching about a month ago. I have tried everything but it won't go away and it is now clicking, slightly swollen (below knee cap) and there is no way I can work out except to do upper body weights. I am making an appointment with my M.D. tomorrow.

I am a former gymnast and runner. I don't want surgery but may have to . . .

Thanks
Dawn:-(

Bursitis? Can you bend it? I have had Bursitis in my knee and it lasted for about 1 1/2 weeks. I could not bend my knee at all. I use to clean the floors on my hands and knees and also love to keep up with my gardens so I was quite rough on my knees. The still get achy for me from time to time, always making noises when I bend like the sound of rice crispys, and just don't right sore from lifting heavy during squats or running. When this happens, I just give them a rest for a few days and they usually feel better.
I went to the doctor's myself to make sure I wasn't having issues like Arthritis, etc., but all the test turned out fine...no Arthritis.

Dawn, I am sure you have many options to explore and surgery would be a last resort. Most injuries respond to therapy. You are smart to see your doctor and may need an orthopaedic specialist but maybe not. :) You can try RICE, rest, ice, compression and elevation. Stay off it as best you can and do nothing to exacerbate it until you see your doctor. You only get one chance to heal! You may be looking at 4-6 weeks of recovery time but if you get whatever the problem is looked into and treated right away, you'll be on your feet in due time. Overuse injuries are common unfortunately but they can be dealt with! Hang in there and good luck!

I have knee issues, mostly my left knee but can feel some pain in my right knee, mine is from low cartilage and over use. I don't do high impact aerobics anymore, well maybe once a week or once every two weeks, I also put my step all the way down, no risers anymore that killed the worse. I also take 800mg's of ibuprophin, on doctors orders. and I also take glucosamine with calcium I really liked the estroven one the best seemed to work best for me, then I also added some Tonilin CLA with it and I feel great. I won't push it though, I can get away with kickboxing though. if I do like Imax2 I can't move my knee for two weeks:( I love step blast, I just don't do the blast at the end but love the workout, and I love SJP that is ok on my knees. But you have to find what works for you and going to see a doctor might be a good idea before starting anything, You can start glucosamine though. I do the Ibuprophin for my fibromyalgia but helps witht he knees so can't knock that LOL
