KK's September Check In

Hello ladies.

Thank you for your prayers and well-wishes. I think that this morning went really well. I won't get my scores until Wednesday, so I will be able to enjoy the weekend without wondering if they'll be posted or not.

Karen, good job on MM. That is a tough one. Especially the abs.

Jeanette, sounds like you have a great weekend planned. A triathalon and then a suprise birthday party. Sounds like a busy day.

This AM before the test I did GS Legs. That floorwork is so good for the butt. It has been at least 2 months since I have done that one. Loved it. Totally got my mind off of the stress of today. I won't be doing any extra workouts today. I have my hair appt today and then DH and I are going out to dinner and then to a movie. I will be busy tonight. :)

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great Friday night!

-Becky

Hi Jeanette & Becky & Rhea & Natalie!:)

Becky -- I must admit that I'm coming onto the forums earlier today to see how you did. Am so glad that the exams seemed to go well -- Go, Becky! -- and lucky you -- you'll have the weekend to recover. This is always a good thing.:)

It also sounds like you have a nice, relaxing day ahead of you. I'm trying to go to my haridresser's today as well. Need a little lift on the hair on top, I think -- my hair is long and a little on the thick side, and if it isn't thinned out on top, it gets so flat on top... Have fun at the hairdresser's and the movie. Sounds wonderful, actually.

Jeanette -- I'm going to look your post up on the open forums and see what results you're getting. A Triathlon? Wow! I am always so impressed with you and your workouts and how you keep improving -- even just the thought of considering doing this is incredible in my opinion. Remember, though, that if you haven't prepared for it, those muscles used in swimming and running are a little different tha biking -- but since you've been doing Cathe so much, I don't think you would have much of a problem. I don't do the competitions, though, but I do know that most people train for those ahead of time... So I guess I'm not much help, am I? Again, I'll see what others have to say.

Jeanette -- you gave me a good laugh with your analogy of a livestock animal.:+ A really good chuckle. You know, I think I'd be a good one, too.

Does SJP have a 40 minute premix? If so, maybe I'll do that one tomorrow.

Did IMAX2 today -- my fav -- but boy, were my legs fried up from MM yesterday. Must use different muscles on that. Reminds me that I need to change my workouts occasionally.

Interestingly enough, though my weight isn't down today, the measurements of my hips were down slightly -- which might mean that MM really worked those muscles in a different way yesterday than what I'm usually accustomed to. This is good, I think.:)

Well, I'm off to get to work -- I'll check out your post over in the open forums, first, though, Jeanette.

Have a wonderful day, everyone! And super workouts tomorrow.:7

Good morning ladies!

Jeanette, I bet you are exausted after your triathlon. I am looking forward to hearing about it.

Karen, glad to hear your measurements are down. I hope your workouts were good this weekend.

Saturday I did CTX upper body. I had intended to do some cardio as well (even though it wasn't on the rotation) but I felt so exhausted that I didn't. I think my brain and body really just needed that downtime. Today I did a 40 minute iTread. That really got me sweating. It was great.

Here's my rotation for the week:
Mon: Hardcore Interval Circuit plus some abs
Tues: Step Fit
Wed: PH
Thurs: IMAX 2 plus some abs
Fri: SJP
Sat: some sort of cardio (probably an iTread)
Sun: MM

This month's rotation is really fun with all the circuit workouts. I am hoping my muscles will get a lot more defined this month. If not, I am planning on doing a strength rotation next month (unless the new workouts come in early next month...might have to tailor around them).

Anyway, I hope everyone has had a great weekend. I rested yesterday (my brain) and today I am pre-reading again. Back in the swing of things.:(

-Becky

Hi Ladies!:)

Just lost my post to cyberspace...

Anyway, hi everyone. Hope your weekends were great!

Becky -- sounds like you spent the weekend just right. I think you're wise to rest up after all that rush, rush cramming. Your workouts next week look challenging -- look like they'll really burn some calories. They also look like fun -- I like the circuits, as well.

I'm going to try my best this week to eat smaller portions of everything -- I've been trying and trying to lose just a few pounds -- and it's so difficult -- so I'll just try smaller portions and see how that goes.

Jeanette, did you do the triathlon, after all? If so, I can't wait to hear about it.

My daughter came over tonight and we went shopping, had dinner here at home, and a movie. It was a great night.

But here's what I plan next week.

Mon: IMAX -- the original

Tues: Circuit Max -- haven't done this one in a while -- it should be fun

Wed: Cardio of some kind and a stretch

Thurs: PH -- you're doing this one, too, I think -- I looked back and saw that you're doing yours on Wednesday

Fri: IMAX2 -- or Sprint 8 - 10 if the pollen is cleaned up

Sat: Bootcamp

Sun: Off

Breakdown: 2 days of anaerbics -- 5 days with cardio -- 4-5 plyometrics depending on whether I can do the sprint or not -- 3 days of weight work and 1 day of stretch.

Well, it was a terrific weekend, and I'm anxious to get going on this next week, as well. Have some terrific workouts everyone and a really super day.:7

Hi ladies,
Sounds like you (Karen and Becky) are doing some really good workouts. Today for me was about 1/2 hour of easy cardio (Christi Taylor's Hi-Lo Heaven) and then 1/2 hour of yoga with I can't remember and don't want to go look.

I did the triathlon (except for the swim part) yesterday. You can read my short account here:

http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=4&topic_id=335423&mesg_id=335423&page=

I had a really good time at it and surprised myself on the bike and run. My knees are feeling the run today, of course, what did I think would happen? Anyway, great experience for me. Maybe I'll look into the duathlon thing sometime.

After the triathlon, DH and I took the new Rhino out with our dogs and had a very nice time relaxing next to a creek and then went on a nice ride in the high desert country. Fun, fun!

Karen, bet the time was so good with your daughter. What a special time! Good luck on the smaller portions.

Becky, good for you for knowing when to rest up and when to work it.

Have lots to do after work today (upper body workout and short spin around the block on my bike). I have a time trial scheduled for tomorrow but it will depend on if my legs recover from yesterday or not. If not, that's okay too.

Must get a move on for work now,

Jeanette

Good morning!

I'm back, but I'll catch up with y'all a bit later after I get a bunch of things done and out of the way. Did a lot of golfing and not much working out. Arizona was really warm, but interesting.

Glad you did well on your exam Becky!

Jeanette - a triathlon, wow.

Karen - I bet the time with your daughter was fun too....

Well, got to run. Talk at y'all later.

Hi Ladies!:)

Am posting a little earlier today as I have a lot of work ahead of me.

Jeanette -- Wow! Impressive -- your first triathlon -- again, wow -- swimming or no -- and your knees will stop protesting in no time, I bet. Great on your biking time, as well.

Rhea -- so glad to hear from you. I bet Arizona was fun. If I remember correctly, I was there about this time last year on tour -- and I remember how hot it was. Have a good day back today.

Becky -- bet your workouts are challenging today.

It was IMAX2 for me today -- had IMAX the original scheduled, but my VHS unit wasn't working and I only have that in a VHS -- so I switched to IMAX2 -- I might have to switch on the others, as well, as I have some things planned that are I only have on VHS -- we'll see if my hubby can fix the thing tonight.

Also on the SJP on Saturday, I pulled my left hip out of place with that one kickbox movement -- so I have to spend some time today on a rolled up towel and coax it back into place... Wasn't certain this morning that I'd finish IMAX2 cause of the hip, but I managed okay.;)

Much, much work today. Lots and lots -- so I'd best get to it.

Have a terrific rest of the day, everyone.:7

Good evening ladies.

Jeanette, congrats on the triathlon. What an achievement!

Rhea, glad to see you're back. Arizona is an interesting state. Go from desert to ski resort in around a 2 hour drive. Glad you had fun.

Karen, I hope your hip continues to feel better. Good job on doing IMAX 2...just try not to over-do it with an injury.

This AM I did HC Extreme Interval Circuit and this PM I did 30 minute elliptical (studying), 20 minute run (was feeling pretty antsy), and then ME abs. I feel much more relaxed now. :)

Anyway, back to studying. Hope everyone has a great night.

-Becky

Good morning Karen, Becky and Rhea:

Glad you're back Rhea, hope it was a very relaxing vacation for you. I leave at the end of next week and looking forward to it. Hope the weather warms back up after the cooling we are supposed to get the end of this week.

Karen, hope your hip is feeling better. No fun to have it out of place.

Becky, sounds like you had a good workout yesterday. I don't have HC Extreme Interval Circuit but it's probably a toughie!

Last night I did CTX Upper Body only and spun my legs a little on a bike set up on the trainer. I've decided not to do the time trial today as they are still sore from running. I'll get the car into the oil changer instead and maybe just do a spin if I have time after work. Today's workout was Step Blast combos 1,2 & 3 and then some Christi step for about 50 minutes of workout.

Must run now, hope everyone has a nice day.

Jeanette

Good morning!

No workout yet for me, unless you consider trimming roses and harvesting grapes a workout. Since it is supposed to be much cooler this weekend, we thought we had better stop procrastinating and get some of the yard work done. Today on my list of things to do is write a rotation. That way, I will have it in my brain my workout schedule so that I can't wiggle out of it. Of course, we have another trip this weekend to a town called Dixon, so that puts a crimp in planning. I can't wait until we can stay home for a weekend without any plans.

Karen - hope your hip is better.

Becky - which one is HC Extreme Interval Circuit? I have the HC series, just not sure which one you are talking about.

Jeanette - where do you get to go on your vacation? I'm sure it is fun and exciting.

Well, have a nice day everyone!

Good evening ladies.

Today I did Step Fit. It was a pretty good workout. I really don't feel like doing a run on the elliptical tonight, so I probably won't. We are moving to Pensacola, Fl for my 3rd and 4th year of medical school (about 2.5 hours away from where I am now) and DH has to start his job there early. I spent some time today (when I probably should have been studying) researching apartments/townhouses/condos as well as mover costs and such. I think we're just going to rent since it will only be for 2.5 years. Anyway, looks like he'll be moving there early and I'll drive over there on the weekends (I will enjoy the drive...I have some medical board review audio files that I never make time to listen to that I will be able to while driving.) It will be rough, but we'll get through it. This year is so tough that I rarely get to see him except the weekends anyways. He won't be moving until November or December, but there is lots to be done in anticipation. I think I found the apartment (we'll both eventually live in it) and we might drive over and take a look this weekend. We lived in Pensacola for 5 years and I am looking forward to moving back there.

Jeanette, hope you enjoyed your cardio. Sounds like fun.

Rhea, I think yardwork could be considered a light workout. :) HC Extreme Interval Circuit is on the HC Extreme (compilation) DVD.

Karen, hope your hip is feeling better too.

Hope everyone has a great evening!

-Becky

Good Evening!:)

Am posting late tonight. I switched days on my schedule because the hip was really bothering me this morning and even resting with a rolled up towel didn't give enough relief -- and so I did a short cardio (22 min.) on a 4" step (from Power Max) and then a stretch on that wonderful ball. Then later today I rested again with the rolled up towel -- enough so that I could walk without the pain. Goodness...

A friend of mine, who is a chiropractor is coming over tonight -- am hoping this will help. If it does, I plan on doing some cardio with weights tomorrow -- however, if the hip is still bothering me, I might opt to do an easier workout -- we'll see how it goes.

Becky -- Well done on finding an apartment that looks like it might be the one. Never an easy thing to do. But it might be fun driving there this weekend to check it out. I love doing things like that -- especially with my hubby.

Pensacola is such a beautiful place -- and since you were there for five years before, maybe moving back will be a little like going home. Even still, though, I hear you. Moving is never easy. I used to be a Realtor -- I remember it well.

Jeanette -- wow, you have a vacation coming up. Wonderful. Do you know yet where you plan to go? And I think you were wise not to do the Time Trail when your legs were still sore. Christi must be good, since you reach for her so often.

Rhea -- yeah, I think trimming roses counts as a workout -- at least you were out there, and not simply sitting. A schedule is a good idea, I think. It's why every Sunday, I post a rotation for the coming week. I find that when I do this, I'm more inclined to do it, and am usually disappointed (like this week) when something comes up that doesn't let me do it. So, yes, plan away...

Well, again it's late, and so I'd better be off to bed. Don't the DVD covers look pretty. I keep following that blog.

Have some super workouts tomorrow and a terrific day.:7

Hi ladies,

Today's workout was Power Half Hour Thighs and then the abs/plank work from SJP. Last night I did an easy bike ride to spin my legs. They are feeling much better. I plan on doing an upper body workout tonite.

Have to watch my eating better, I've been indulging in a whole bag of fat free kettle popcorn at work each day. Will write down my calories today too to see where I'm going over. Also, I'll try to write up a rotation for next week, though we start vacation on Friday so will modify for the end of the week. I agree Karen, it does help.

Need to clean the camp trailer tonite too, that's my plan anyway.

Rhea, we are going to the Redwoods for a few days and then on up to Bandon, Oregon. Will be gone for a little over a week. Son Jesse and his girlfriend Cass and her son Tyler will go with us. Definitely yardwork counts as a workout! Hope life settle down for you pretty soon. I don't like when I'm gone every weekend doing things I don't necessarily choose to do, but that's life, huh?

Karen, certainly hope the chiropractor could help you. No fun having hip pain. Did you have an injury at one time that causes it to flare up on certain movements?

Becky, good luck with the apartment hunting. I so admire you for your determination to reach your goal. I never had a clue what I wanted to do in school.

Great workouts everyone!

Jeanette

Good morning, ladies!:)

At least it's still morning here.

Jeanette -- that sounds like a beautiful vacation planned. Would love to go to the Redwoods. Next tour we plan to be going up through CA to Oregon and Washington and then over to Montana -- maybe we'll be able to spend a few days in the Redwood area, as well.

I hear you on watching what you eat, Jeanette. Me, too. This "eating less" with each meal thing is working to a certain extent -- the weight has come down again to my high tolerance range -- now I'd like to get it down to the low range of what I can tolerate. I'll just keep at it.

Don't think I have an injury that makes this flair -- at least I'm not aware of one -- my chiro said that one leg is longer than the other and during the kickboxing moves, if done incorrectly (my form again), it could cause this to flair. He did nothing more than massage the hip last night -- and it is so much better today -- but I'm taking it easy today with an active day off -- plan to go for a walk later -- just let that hip rest for a day, I think.

My friend/chiro also has karate experience and so showed me the correct form for the kickboxing move. Apparently one needs to keep the support leg's knee bent -- and he suggested on the one side that I stand on my toes. I'll try it next time and see.

I also think I'm not quite up to form to do an all week schedule of the Hardcore series. Maybe this is my body's way of telling me that I was over my head. The Intensity series is one thing -- I do that one all the time and love it -- but I'm not quite as used to the Hardcore series. Like you, Jeanette, it's a little too serious for me.

I love the lightheartedness of the Intensity series -- despite its name...

I'd said I'd have to watch it as I was upping the intensity of my workouts -- so perhaps a more gradient approach is recommended.

At any rate -- I'll rest today and get back on schedule tomorrow.

Becky -- hope you are doing well today -- I, too, admire your dedication.

Rhea -- would love to see your rotation. Are you golfing, as well?

Must get to work. Email seems to take me so long nowadays.x(

Have a terrific rest of the day, everyone.:7

Good evening ladies!

Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement. I'll take all I can get at this point. I feel like I am running a marathon at sprint pace without the luxery of water breaks. Anyway, I got my test results back...for all but 1 subject. All were great except pharmacology, which wasn't bad, just wasn't great, and I don't know why. Evidently a lot of people feel the same way and we're wondering if he threw out some questions so that our scores are actually higher. Either way, it won't kill me. Just will focus more on pharm.

Rhea, hope you were able to get that rotation on paper.

Jeanette, I hope you have fun on your vacation!

Karen, glad you got some form pointers. Hopefully that will keep any more possible injuries away. Great job on losing weight! That is a major accomplishment. I know you'll get it down to target!

This AM I did Power Hour and this PM I did 50 minutes on the elliptical while reading the Pharm book.

It looks like we are going to Pensacola this weekend for apartment shopping. DH gave his new potential boss his goal salary (and I got all antsy because DH asked for substantially more than he's making now) and the money guy didn't laugh. So, after the "formality of an interview" as the potential boss put it, is over, we'll know for certain if we're going to get that much. We may eat dinner with his new potential boss this weekend. Anyway, that's kind of exciting.

I need to help cook dinner and then study. Hope everyone has a great night.

-Becky

Hi ladies,
Last night's workout was short and sweet, Pyramid Upper Body Up only premix. Got a good burn, also got the camp trailer cleaned for our trip next week.

This morning's workout was Christi Taylor's Hi-Lo Heaven and then tacked on 20 minute Turbo Jam. Fun workouts. I have a dentist appt. and then a bike club meeting tonite. May try to get a bike ride inbetween.

Karen, glad the hip is feeling better. Interesting that he wanted you up on your toes. I'm trying to picture that one. Yes, I'm looking forward to being in the Redwoods again. We'll probably get some hiking in during that time too. I know what you mean by being over your head. I've gotten to where I listen pretty well to my body when I get droopy. I'm not one to really push thru when I don't feel well. I'm in this for the long run and enjoyment.

Becky, way to go on your test results!!! Hope your DH gets the job and money he wants. Sounds like you are keeping it all balanced, always a tough thing.

Must go now,

Jeanette

:7

Good morning all!

Still haven't written down that rotation yet. Been on my list of things to do, but at work it has been one of the non-essential things to do. I think I will be able to get to it today.

Great news on your exams Becky. Being able to study while on the ellip. is a good idea. Wish I had that during law school, I might have worked out/studied more....;)

Jeanette - I hope the weather cooperates with you on the camping trip. I can't believe it is overcast today. Not that I mind the cooler weather, at least I can workout in the afternoon now and not have to worry about passing out from the heat. :p

Karen - how's the hip today? When is your next to last book coming out BTW?

Hi Ladies!:)

Well, I'm back on track today. Hip seems fine -- only a faint whisper of anything wrong at all. So I did ME this morning -- one of my favorite workouts. Had me sweating. Those abs and biceps on that are tough, but made it through them.:p

Hi Rhea! We have cooler weather here, as well, and it's also overcast. But it's a nice change. Enjoy your time off.;)

Hi Jeanette! That's a great mix, PUB, isn't it? Those Christi Taylors must be good -- what are they like, Jeanette? The vacation sounds wonderful, hiking and stuff -- I love hiking. Wish I did it more. We are so busy with work -- even on weekends that we have to make special time for this.

Oh, also, the only time I'm on my toes, he said, is that kick to the side -- where one leg is longer than the other. I'll try it and see.

Hi Becky! Great on your test scores. Remember in college when the prof. would swing the test scores to relect worse than they were -- don't know if that's what you're talking about or not, but I recall prof.'s doing this -- where the highest grade was a C. ;(

Apartment seeking sounds really fun, actually and the trip will be nice too, don't you think? Revisiting a place where you stayed for five years? Hope your DH gets the salary he asked for. That would be exciting.

And isn't PH a good workout. I'd had it planned for this week, but my VCR is not working -- so I have to go with only those things I have on DVD.

Anyway, must get down to work -- again email takes me so long in the mornings -- I have to figure out how to make it shorter somehow.

Have a terrific rest of the day and wonderful workouts.:7

Edited to say that the next book isn't due out until June of 2007 -- so I have some time...

Hey Karen - I actually meant the one before the one you just finished writing. That one hasn't been printed yet, right? Or am I losing it?

Good evening ladies!

I surely am posting late tonight. This AM I did IMAX 2 and this PM I did 45 minutes on the elliptical while studying. We had our house cleaned for the first time today. It looks great! I am so happy that we splurged. :)

Jeanette, how do you like Turbo Jam? Have heard so much about them but have never actually seen one of their workouts.

Rhea, hope all is well and hope your workouts have been going well.

Karen, no it wasn't a curved score on the Pharm...it was just a lot of math, etc during this pharmacology unit and I must have miscalculated or something. It wasn't a bad score. I know I am going to sound like a prissy-butt, but I still have a 4.0 after my first year of med school and this pharm test was a low B...I'd just hate to lose that 4.0. I know I probably will, but until I actually do (if I do) lose it, I get really anxious thinking about it.

Great news on your hip feeling better! Hope you figure something out with that VHS.

Oh, DH got an email from the HR department of that new job and they want to do the HR phone interview (the type of interview where they make sure he isn't psychotic, etc). He sent them his cell number. Hopefully they'll call tomorrow. They said they'd either call tomorrow or early next week. After that interview I think he gets an in-person interview with the guy he knows (a technical interview...but this guy already knows Brian knows his stuff...they've worked together on projects before). This is all so nerve-racking/exciting.

Anyway, it is almost my bed time. Must shower and read through a few more notes. Hope everyone has a great Friday tomorrow!

-Becky
