KK's October Rotation

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Was a rest day for me yesterday,(from Cathe anyway) but I did the group road bike ride. We had 21 show up for it and we did 43 miles. It was a great ride, supposed to be leisurely, but you know how it is when you get guys together (about 5 of us were women), the testosterone gets to going and the races began. Bad me, I rode pretty hard myself and won one sprint up a hill. Guess I blew my wad on that and after that, I couldn't keep up witht the fasties. Had a great ride, beautiful leaves, lots of fun. My Ironman girlfriend commented on my increase in speed so that was nice. Have to pick up my old bike so I can start on the Spinervals. I hear I will be really sweating and working.

Today was KPC, such a fun workout! I didn't do the abs in it, but will do abs tomorrow with biceps and triceps. My Slow & Heavy should be coming on Wednesday, so may get to try those out this week under this rotation. This has been a fun rotation. I've been able to maintain and even lose a little, with less cardio too, hmmm. I am watching what I eat pretty carefully though.

Hope you all got to work out over the weekend, or at least got to do something you enjoyed.

Good workouts!

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette, Rhea & Natalie!:)

It was pretty much a rest weekend for me. Slept off and on almost all day on Saturday -- figured I must've needed it. Been going pretty fast and furious since -- well, since about February -- with only minor letups here and there -- so I think the all day "sleep" was needed. Did housework yesterday -- so much dust when I'm not here to do it -- my hubby cleans but often forgets to dust -- and just took it easy. Did do a long walk on Saturday -- only to come home and sleep...;)

But I'm feeling fairly rested -- still tired -- but I think I'm just gonna take it easy this week and let the body rest. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't do Cathe -- I'm a little out of shape -- even though I did exercise almost every day on tour -- but I'm just not going to push myself until the body catches up on rest, I think.

Okay, so I'm not sure that I know what Spinervals are -- I am sort of guessing, but am not sure. That sounds like a great ride, Jeanette -- 49 miles. I am in awe, once again. I hope that after I rest up a bit to really get going again. CTX is going to be my next purchase, I think. I've been drooling over some of the sales going on -- and I might just look at all of those -- but I so love the DVD's nowadays -- with all the premixes and such, that it might be hard to just buy one DVD nowadays.

That's so cool, too, that you're getting your bike back from your niece to do the spinervals -- is it stationary biking with intervals like we know them with Cathe?

Well, anyway, here is this week's rotation -- again I'm just going to take it easy until the body rests up a bit.

Monday: IMAX 2 -- my fav -- I might be a shorter version -- we'll see

Tuesday: ME -- again, I might do a shortened version

Wednesday: Either a short cardio or walk & stretch

Thursday: High Step Challenge -- again might be a shortened version

Friday: Sprints outside (at least 8 -- more if I feel up to it)

Saturday: Off -- sleep if needed

Sunday: KPC -- again it might be a shortened version

Well, that's what I plan -- we'll see how it all goes. Gee, it's good to be home -- have a short deadline -- just the new proposal and then I go to contract, so am able to really rest for the first time in months -- I'm thinking that the ole bod must really need it -- couldn't believe I slept almost the day through on Saturday and then went to bed and slept some more...

Oh, I've now lost 3 pounds, so I have 6 more to go -- I think the "why" of the gain was not only the stress and being away from home, but under the wrong impression -- I'm not a protein type at all -- and eating all those fats is not the way I should eat. But now that I'm back on the ole "tried and true" the weights coming off.

Okay, I'm chattering away. Have a good one, everybody and terrific workouts.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Karen, so good you got the rest your body obviously has been needing. You have had quite the schedule, with many demands. I admire your work ethic, heck, I can only stack wood for about an hour and I want to start something else... Good on the 3 pounds, know the rest will start coming off too. Glad you've figured out what kind of eating works best for you.

Well Spinervals (and I've only briefly glanced at the tape) are intervals on the bike, Coach Troy tells you what gears to be in and what intensity and for how long. I hear it can be grueling, but will really help your cycling. We'll see. Think I will start on Friday.

Today was Pyramids Biceps and Triceps and abs. I almost got all the way thru the stability ball pikes but my puppy tends to come out right about that time and get right under my face while I'm in the pike position. Really tough to concentrate... Every time!

Have a massage scheduled for tonite. Looking forward to it.

Hi to Rhea and Natalie too.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette, Rhea & Natalie!:7

Ah, that's what spinervals are -- I thought it sounded like it might be intervals on a bike -- it does sound gruelling... I really admire that you work so hard on this, Jeanette.

Well, I tried to do a shortened version of ME today, but found that there isn't a time saver premix -- so I plopped in Muscle Max and did the TimeSaver on that one. It's a good workout when you're sort of out of shape. I'm just trying to keep in the workout zone, while letting the body recover a bit.

Lost another pound -- so that makes four now...five more to go. Plus, am getting the sleep I think I've needed for quite some time -- so hopefully by next week, I'll be all rested up and ready to go!:)

Ah, the massage sounds heavenly -- enjoy.

You made me laugh with the picture of you doing pikes and the puppy coming in a licking your face. Don't you just love it? We have quite a few cats and 3 dogs and so I can really imagine.

Well, it's back to work with me. Want to get this proposal done so that I can concentrate on other things that need doing -- like fall cleaning and such...

Have a great one and terrific workouts everyone.:7

Hi Karen, Rhea, and Jeanette,

Just got back from Arizona this evening. The weather was really beautiful - in the 80's each day and sunny cloudless sky. There was a really nice athletic club at the resort but I ended up hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding in the desert each day as it was just too beautiful to be inside. Oh well, so much for upper body bliss but I feel like I got some great cardio. Other than the cold weather here in the east, I'm glad to be back home.

Regarding the eating and weight issue. I'm currently afraid of my scales as I'm sure the resort food has taken it's toll.

I don't think I'm going to pick up where I left off with the October rotation but am going to try to stick with concentrating on upper body strength training along with some cardio.

Natalie

Hi Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Today was supposed to be KPC, but I did that one on Monday instead of Cardio Kicks and didn't want to repeat it so I did C&W step only and then did the 1st 5 blasts in Imax2. Good workout for me. I like the blast section of Imax2 as it does give you a breather in between blasts, but not as much as a step section. I need to train my body to recover faster from hard efforts, which is something that Spinervals will do. I hope to start them on Friday.

Karen, the weight is flying off of you, yahoo! Knew you could do it!!! Hope you got the proposal done. Feels good to get things accomplished. Actually, I have to give a baby shower at my house tomorrow night, so definitely need to get my house cleaned up tonite as I have to work tomorrow during the day. I also want to try to get in a short bike ride tonite as after this week, probably no more riding after work due to the time change. Lots to do.

The massage was nice. Scheduled another one in 6 weeks.

Natalie, sounds like your vacation was absolutely wonderful, something I would definitely like as I like to stay physically active. Not just sit around and eat (and I do love to eat!). Glad you are back.

Take care all.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Natalie & Rhea!:)

So nice to see you back all safe and sound, Natalie. Arizona is close to where I live -- yet the weather there is so different that here in So. CA. I bet it was beautiful -- the desert can be a very beautiful place -- so different from back East. It sounds as if you really had a good time.

It took me a few days to confront getting on the scale again, too, Natalie. I do understand.

Well, didn't lose any weight yesterday -- stayed the same as the day before, but at least it didn't go up, which sometimes happens when I'm dieting. So I'll just keep on doing the same thing and hopefully tomorrow, another pound will have found its way off the ole bod.;-)

Jeanette, it looks like you are so far ahead of me in weights and workouts right now -- I am in such admiration. I didn't realize that the blasts in IMAX2 gave you time inbetween -- I'm going to have to check that out. That's really a good idea.

Have fun tonight -- or is it tomorrow night -- with the baby shower -- that really sounds like fun.:) And exciting, as well.

Well, it's going to be a short cardio for me -- either one of Cathe's or a walk outside -- and then stretch. Always look forward to that stretch.

Am beginning to not be so tired during the day now -- but am still sleeping 8-9 hours a night. I usually get 7-8 -- but really seem to need more at the moment.

So, am still working on the proposal -- hopefully will have it done in the next few days so I can get onto other things.

Have a great day and wonderful workouts everyone.:7

Good morning all!

So good to "see" everyone healthy and happy. I've fallen off the workout wagon, again, but was busy painting the bathroom and helping DH finish the game room. I'm going to be very happy when it is all done. My house is a complete mess and for some unknown reason, I volunteered my house for a surprise party next Friday. So I'm just a scurring around trying to get it in order. If the group was everyone I knew, then I wouldn't care, but there are going to be peopel I've never met, so it has to be clean.

I'm going to try to squeeze in a workout today though, my neck is already tight from the painting, so I want to loosen it up.

I bought a new battery for the scale, but I'm too afraid to put it in. My eating has been horrible.

Well, I'm off to do something here in the office. Talk to y'all later. Have a great and wonderful day.

Good morning everyone!

Today was Slow & Heavy Chest and Back and 30 minute run. Here's what I did as I really refuse to work out for more than 1 hour on my work days. I didn't realize that S&H segments were so long (think chest was 26 minutes), so I only did chest and then added on the warmup and 1st segment of Rhythmic Step, but on a 8" step (usually I do 6"). I'm still hoping to do a bike ride this afternoon (didn't get one in yesterday due to rain and company at the house). I'm getting off work early so I can do a little shopping and extra cleanup before the baby shower. We'll see if I can work the bike ride in then, depends on the weather.

Slow & Heavy, I liked it and boy was my chest shaking during the slow counts. It feels like it will do some good for my chest muscles. I stayed with 15# DB's as that's the highest weights I own. I can see where 20's will need to be purchased next. Maybe I can get the back workout in tomorrow after the Spinerval workout. Should be an interesting workout tomorrow.

Karen, don't worry about losing the weight too fast, know you know this. Your strength will all come back and more, I'm sure of that. I've always admired that you have the mental fortitude to do the sprints. I just have not been able to even try those. On the bike maybe, but no impact there.

Rhea, you are so productive! I need to get some painting done also in our bathroom and bedroom. Just waiting for worse weather, though right now I hear the rain. Don't know what this weekend will bring. We just had a contractor friend finish putting trim on our shop. It has really high gabled ends that would be tough and dangerous for DH to do so I hired it done. Now I need to keep pushing DH to finish the easier parts.

Good workouts to everyone, keep working and try to eat clean. I have to buy some snacks for the baby shower tonite and don't think that baby carrots will go over well. My sister told me to pick up some M&M's and nuts and stuff.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie!:)

It's so good to hear from you Rhea. I've been wondering how you've been doing -- and now I can see that you've been all-out busy. Painting -- wow! You have my admiration for even trying to do it -- we have so many projects here to do, too. Hopefully, we'll be getting to them soon, as well. Funny that we all have these major house projects.

Both of your parties sound like fun -- but work:eek: Oh, Jeanette, how interesting -- buying M&M's. Made me laugh! I'd be tempted to get some chocolate at the Health Food Store...and not tell anyone it was healthy...

Rhea, I'm a little afraid of my scale right now, too. I have 5 more pounds to lose -- and it's getting close to the holidays...darn... But I gotta do it -- I figure once the rotations are in again, it'll go better.

It's interesting that both of you have parties coming up -- I'm still recovering, I think. Had a tough night -- my body got into low blood sugar symptoms for some reason -- not sure why or what it was that I ate that triggered it -- but the interesting thing is that once I started to exercise (I did IMAX2 -- intervals 6-10), the symtoms really let up. I found that really interesting.

Still keeping light on the exercises cause I'm still tired, believe it or not. Had a hard time making myself exercise -- was up a lot last night and didn't get the amount of sleep that I like, but boy, once I was into it, I loved it. I think -- despite the low blood sugar thing -- that I'm recovering -- cause I had more energy for the IMAX2 -- more than I did on Monday.

Yesterday, it was a long walk for me -- it was pretty outside and so I took advantage of it.

Well, I'm off to get some much needed supplies for the house -- and then back to work.

Have some terrific workouts and a great day, everyone.:7

Morning all!

Well here it is almost noon and I'm still in workout clothes and just now posting. Well today was Spinervals (30 minutes) and Coremax (tough core premix). Good workouts, both of them. Spinervals is pretty tough, but definitely modifiable, all you have to do is do a smaller gear or just spin slower or get off the bike (LOL). I could have done the whole tape, but have a 60 mile ride tomorrow at 10 a.m. so didn't want to fry my legs. Before I could ride the bike, I had to change both tires and set it up on the trainer, changing the skewer and then putting together the new oscillating fan (the sweat just drips off of you like crazy) that I bought yesterday. Had a pretty good setup going. Will only be able to do this on mornings when DH is not home as I have to crank the TV up pretty loud to hear over the noise of the trainer and don't want to disturb his sleep.

The baby shower went well last night, but yes, I ate too many M&M's, trailmix and nuts. Also had cake and punch, but oh well, it was a baby shower and I didn't feel guilty. Best part was this morning my weight was the same and BF% was actually a little lower (if you can trust the darned thing). Actually, since eating cleaner, it's been staying consistently around 25%, which according to another thread on here is an inflated number over if you were to use calipers. I just care if it's heading in a downward trend.

Karen, glad you were able to work thru the low sugar thing. I get that sometimes and usually have 1/2 of a protein bar before doing cardio, but sometimes push myself anyway without one. I'm trying to get away from those bars, even though they are good (Zone Perfect and Luna Bars). You will gain your strength back, just take it easy for now. Rhea, hope your party goes well and your house will be just fine. You are so much more productive than I am (like the ant). I definitely am a grasshopper. I need to stack some more wood today, pay some bills and maybe ride my horse. Also do some grocery shopping.

Wow, November is almost here. Wonder what Cathe's November rotation will be? I've really enjoyed the Upper Body rotation, with a few modifications of my own. I'll see what the next one is. I've got a feeling she may do a fat burning one to get ready for the holidays, we'll see. Boy, it's so hard to get it all in one rotation, isn't it? And I definitely don't want to get into marathon exercise sessions either. I've had great upper body results, no mass built, but then I don't want to be bigger, just more defined.

Have a great workout today.

Jeanette

Hi everyone,

I finally got in a workout at 9 pm last night and here it is 8:30 pm and I've not had a chance yet again. I did leave the weights out from last night to encourage me. Last night I did 2 upper body sections for Cross Trainer and was hoping to get the others in tonight.

I still have not stepped on the scale since I got home. Just too scary. I'm going to try to get back to better eating this weekend and I think maybe I should do a cardio month for November - I hope you all are right and that will be the Cathe plan as well. Otherwise, I'll plan my own.

This weekend is a cub scout campout but should be done early Sunday morning. Hopefully it will be sunny as it has really been cold here.

Hope everyone has a great weekend,

Natalie

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Kind of quiet on here this weekend, guess everyone is busy. Yesterday I did a bike ride with 7 others. The purpose of this ride was that one of the individuals had turned 66 that day and wanted to ride 66 miles. He's a very strong rider, used to do marathons, etc. amazing, great sense of humor and love of life. We had a nice ride, though it was chilly. We rode strong and I felt well, glad I didn't do over 30 minutes of Spinervals the day before.

Today was S&H shoulders and abs from KPC. My shoulders are feeling very nice right now. The exercise that is harder for me are the front raises. She also does 2 sets of someting for the rotator cuff that I liked. You lie on your side while doing it with a 3# DB. Also I liked that we only did 2 sets of overhead presses, instead of 3. Don't know if she forgot to do the 3rd one or not, but it was fine with me!

DH and I have some shopping to do today, new stovepipe and damper for the woodstove, Halloween candy and need to stack some more wood. Will also ride my horse this afternoon. It's a beautiful day today.

Natalie, hope the cub scout camping was fun and not too cold. It would have been too cold for me up here in northeastern California. Frosty out this morning and thin layer of ice on the horse's water trough. Karen, hope you are getting well rested and getting an idea of the rotation you want to do this next week. Rhea, was the party fun? I do like parties/get togethers, will be having our 2nd Annual Family Breakfast at my house next Saturday morning. Guess it will be my high calorie day LOL!

Good workouts everyone.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie!:)

Those spinervals sound really fun, Jeanette -- love working out and the sweat is pouring off of you. Makes you feel great. And the baby shower really sounds like fun -- I'm afraid I would have eaten all those things too -- and loved 'em. Sounds to me like you've really got a good diet going, there, Jeanette. It's really working.

I'm struggling with mine. Put on two pounds and now I'm just going back and forth -- losing a pound, then gaining it, etc. Still trying to eat as much raw food as possible, but don't eat it all raw. Love the raw cheese and kefir though.

Natalie, hope you have fun at the cub scout meeting -- that is such a cool thing you're doing. I, too, am afraid of the scale, but make myself weigh in each day, anyway.

Meant to post on Friday and then got busy with something...oh, yes, I had a friend's daughter come over to help me with some of my work -- mailings and stuff -- and had a visit from an old friend who has moved to South Africa -- he was in town to visit and will be staying with us for a few weeks until he can find himself a place to rent -- then it's back to Africa -- which he really loves. Interesting man -- he's 85 years old -- is Native American and an actor, as well. He and I have worked together on getting some literacy programs going on a few of the reservations.

Anyway, on Friday, I discovered that ME does have a TimeSaver premix -- but it's still a tough workout -- and was about 55 minutes instead of 64. But I stayed right in there -- though I'm using low weights.

By the way, I'll be posting a November rotation tomorrow -- I, too, hope that Cathe posts a fat burning rotation -- I could really use it.;-)

Oh, Jeanette your 66 mile ride sounds great -- I hope that I, too, am in as good of shape when I get to be that age.

And did I tell you that I've been doing face exercises for the past month and a half. I want to see if I can do something about my jowls and wrinkles and stuff -- and after 2 months, I'm beginning to see some difference -- I truly am. One thing that I notice is that the exercises give my face color -- which as I've grown older, I seem to lose. x( But I'll tell you more as I do them more -- just something I thought I'd try.

Okay so starting tomorrow, I'm going back to 60 minute workouts -- I'm not as tired as I was and I've taken it pretty easy this weekend, so I'm ready to go.

So here's what I plan, unless Cathe's rotation looks like one I could do.

Monday: IMAX2 -- my fav

Tuesday: ME -- in full

Wednesday: Short cardio and stretch

Thursday: MuscleMax -- the 56 minute version

Friday: Sprints outside -- try for 10 -- but at least do 8

Saturday: Off

Sunday: cardio or circuit of choice (short version -- this is my one and only day off with my hubby so I want to make it short)

Well, that's the plan -- but am looking forward to Cathe's rotation, too.

Have a terrific day, everyone and exciting workouts.:7

Good morning ladies:

It was Lowmax for me today. Such a good leg workout. Waiting to see what Cathe posts for November, otherwise, I may do another week of upper body work now that I have S&H. I want to do the biceps and triceps work on that one.

Yesterday DH put some new stovepipe in the house for the woodstove, did a little shopping and did ride my horse. A good day! Back to work today and it's Halloween too so there may be candy at work . I packed a pretty good sized lunch of good stuff so I'm hoping not to be influenced.

Karen, the face exercises sound interesting. I'm noticing some "sag" around the corners of my mouth. Guess it's not the only thing heading south as we get older. Ah, the pull of gravity!! Glad you were able to get more work on your mailings done. Your rotation for the week sounds great. I like the 60 minute workouts also. That's enough for me. Now biking, that's another story, but that's not like working out, it's fun!

Well must post my eating to fitday and then get in the shower and off to work.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette!

Just to let you know, I'm going to start a new November rotation here. See you there.:7
