KK's October Rotation

Good morning,
Hey Rhea, good on you for getting another workout in. What are WHFN's? Hey, I'm weighing every day from now on. Helps me to stay on course. I did get on the scales today and had dropped 3 of the 4 pounds I'd put on. I knew most of it was water weight from the BBQ'd seasoned meat. Anyway, I stay on track better by keeping an eye on it.

Today I did Rhythmic Step. I have this workout down almost all the way, just have trouble getting in the triples around the board. Also don't do the pivot repeaters as it doesn't look like it would be good for my knees. I like the rest of it and the time sure flies.

Ate very clean yesterday and will stick to it today. Have a hair appointment after work and will stack wood when I return from that. Oh yeah, I have a dentist appointment this morning. Have a tooth that's been bothering me off and on, getting more frequent so maybe we'll do something about it today.

Good workouts all!

Jeanette

Hello!

Jeanette....the WHFNs are the workouts from the Women's Health Fitness Network. It is the new cite for Anna Benson and the FitPrime workouts. They are lower impact type workouts with fushion of pilates, yoga, weights and cardio. They seem like you are not working, but the next day you feel sore in spots you didn't know existed. ;)

I don't do a lot of the turns on the board and pivots because of the knees too. Plus it is hard to do pivots on carpet without getting dizzy!

Morning,
Hope everyone is fine. I woke up in the middle of the night with an intense upper stomach ache (air bubble). I've had these before, but it's been a long time. The only thing that helps take it away is baking soda in water. Anyway, not much sleep from me from 2:00 on. Feeling much better now, did my workout - CTX Chest and Back. Bike ride with the fast guys tonite so that will be my 30 minute run.

Rhea, never heard of the workouts you mentioned. Keep up posted on them, okay?

Natalie, hope you are okay and getting to work out. And Karen, what can I say? Come back....

Good workouts everyone!

Jeanette

Good morning all:
Today called for 1/2 hour run, but I subbed MIC hi/lo for it. This was the first time I've done it and I did enjoy it. The high impact isn't that bad at all for me and the time flew. After that, I did part of Leaner Legs and then the abs from CTX Kickbox. Nice workout.

Did the fast bike ride last night. It was really fun and I made it all the way thru it without any leg cramping and the guys watched that I never got dropped for long. My legs have been feeling absolutely wonderful, no fatigue at all! Thought I might struggle with the lack of sleep from the night before, but no problem there. Finished on a high! Cycling with faster people definitely makes you work and improve! Too bad I'll only have one more weeknight to be able to join them and then the time will change :-(

Good workouts everyone. There is a pizza potluck at work today and I'm not joining in for it (it will be tough), but pizza makes my weight go up like crazy, even only one piece, so packed a good lunch and will stick with that.

Take care everyone!

Jeanette

Hi Rhea, Karen and Natalie!

Didn't work out yesterday, but did get the yard raked up of all the leaves. We can't burn yet, but hopefully soon and then I'll get rid of whatever piles are left. After raking, DH and I took the dogs out and went geocaching. It was fun and relaxing, got a short bit of hiking in also. The leaves are so pretty right now.

Did PUB shoulders and abs today. Will be doing a bike ride with a girlfriend later this morning. Will include some climbing, which I haven't done much of lately. We'll see how that goes.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Jeanette

Good morning,
Today was Lowmax for me as I'd worked shoulders yesterday. Am seeing results with this upper body rotation. My biceps feel nice and firm again. The bike ride yesterday was good and I felt very strong. Eating was clean yesterday. Hopefully, the scale will move downwards a pound as I'm over TTOM.

Have a nice day today everyone. I'm back on 4-10's this week so long day at work for me today.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette! Hi Rhea! & Hi Natalie!

Boy have I missed you -- all three of you. Boy, did I miss you -- maybe I should say it again. Really missed being able to just log on and chat and see how you all are doing.

Thanks so much, Rhea, for checking up on me. The tour was gruelling actually. We (Lois Greiman & I) hit 170 stores in less than a month (about 28 days. Not all of those were booksignings -- I think we only did about 30 or 35 actual signings. But it was tough -- there was all the driving and our schedule was usually so tough that we'd not get into the hotel until about 11 PM and then have to get to bed immediately in order to get up by 6-7 AM -- exercise and then get going for the day. Whew!

All in all I gained 4 pounds -- was already 2 pounds heavy and so now I have 6 pounds to lose. Sigh x(

I think it was due to eating in restaurants and all -- not used to eating in restaurants anymore -- I usually eat at home.

I wasn't able to log on line due to time, but also due to the fact that I'm really out of date with all the newest technology -- I brought my computer -- but I only have dial up and the motels no longer service dial up -- it's all high speed or wireless...

And many hotels didn't have an office center.

Then there was the problem of the DVD player on my computer ceasing to work and so my workout consisted of running/sprinting -- walking -- and weight training from memory of Cathe tapes. Believe it or not, with the exception of only a few days, I exercised every day -- it was lucky for me that Lois is also an exercise fanatic and so often we went walking or sprinting together.

Anyway did IMAX2 today for the first time in a month and a half and boy was it fun! Am sending my new laptop back to have the DVD player looked over and fixed hopefully.

Anyway, hello again -- I'm terribly behind in my work and so haven't read all the posts, but I will. And thanks, Jeanette, for starting the October rotation for me Jeanette. That was really sweet of you.

All in all the trip was good -- but oh, so gruelling...although my hubby met me in New York City and we drove home together -- that was really fun -- went through upper state New York to see all the leaves -- became "leave peepers" I think they're called in Vermont. And went through the Rockies on the way home and then the Sierra's -- so we saw all in all three completely different sets of mountains and their beauty.

So good to be back. Have a terrfic day!

Hi Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Welcome back Karen!!!!! I was so happy to hear from you last night when I was reading! Yippee!! Very glad you had a good tour and I'll bet the leaves were sure pretty along the way. I love autumn, just about my favorite time of year. We're having a really nice one up here in northern California. Great bike riding and hiking weather too.

Karen, those pounds will fly off of you once you get back in the groove. Bet your body will be "shocked" just getting back to the workouts. I'm always amazed that when I go back to a DVD that I haven't done for a while how difficult it is, even though I've been working out on other dvd's. I think a lot of it is mental.

I'm in the 3rd week of Cathe's Upper Body Rotation and seeing results using the Pyramids and last week was CTX Upper Body. I'm not doing as much cardio this rotation and I think that makes a difference. I was actually down a pound this morning, have been holding pretty steady, even though I've been calorie cycling. Every once in a while, I throw in an extra leg workout.

Hope everyone has a great day today and again, Karen, so good to have you back!!!! :7 :7 :7

Jeanette

Good afternoon everyone!

Karen - so glad to see you on the forum again. I bet you are just glad to be home. Jeanette's right...those pounds will just fly off.

Jeanette - sounds like that rotation is a good one. I can't wait until I can do another Cathe rotation. If I could only retire, then I would defintely have the time to do my workouts the way I want to! I've sort of left you here playing by yourself too...sorry...:-(

For me, thank goodness the MM has been acting up again. I have not been clean eating. Not super bad stuff, just a lot more carbs then I'm used to....potatoes...buns on the hamburgers. I'm not going to beat myself up over it though. Just moderation until the holidays and class are over and then I'll go squeaky clean for a long haul and see where it gets me.

Again, so nice to "see" you back Karen.

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie!:)

You are so right -- it is great to be home. I was beginning to feel as though my home was the road...

Did KPC today -- gee, that's a fun workout -- was going to do ME, but was afraid that I needed the extra cardio -- it's interesting, Jeanette that you've dropped a pound and are not doing as much cardio -- that's good to hear, actually.

And Rhea -- I know what you mean about eating -- restaurant eating was hard on me -- seems the more you eat in a restaurant, the hungier you get:9 And then Lois introduced me to Coldstone Ice Cream...

But you're right not to beat yourself up over it -- something I was starting to do, but it's just not worth it in the long run.

Oh, so I bought my daughter a full-sized step and the 1st video -- I think it's called Blast -- something like that -- she doesn't have much time and I explained that there are short workouts on all of Cathe's DVD's -- and she really wants to work out -- so hopefully the step will do the trick. I looked for the new series in Target, but I think it just isn't there yet.

I was going to try a new diet, but think I'll go back to the standard lo carb diet that I usually do that works for me -- put on a couple more pounds yesterday -- has to be water weight -- so I think I'll just go back to the same thing that has worked for me in the past.

Anyway, you wouldn't believe all the things I have to do -- it's as though a month and a half of work needs to be done...well... today...

Okay, thanks so much for your cheery welcome back -- it really made me feel great. So glad to be back.

Have a great one.

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Today was any step workout so I chose Rhythmic Step. It's getting easier now and it's a fun steady state workout.

Karen, glad you are enjoying KPC. It's a fun one. To tell you the truth, I have Hardcore Kickmax and haven't used it very much at all. It's just not as motivating, and Cathe's not as fun in it as she is in KPC. Know your weight will come back down, just stay away from the ice cream! I do indulge in sweets from time to time, but mostly it's for a family member's birthday or another family get together. I just get back on the wagon right after.

Wow, this upper body rotation is really working. My arms feel rock hard. I ordered Slow & Heavy last night. So many rave about this workout that I guess I have to have it. I really have seen results using the Pyramids. I've been doing the Pyramids up and down for upper body, instead of just up, like I was doing before.

Have a bike ride tomorrow after work. I've bumped up my riding (speed wise) by riding with some faster people and wow! Tomorrow night is the last night I can ride with them due to the time change, but it's peeked in me a desire to get faster. Someone else gave me some Spinerval tapes to try so guess I will put the bike in front of the TV and give it a whirl.

Well must run,

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie!:)

I have the pyramids, but the truth is that I rarely do them -- although once I'm back and into things as usual -- I'm still trying to get back to the "usual" -- I want to change my routine to do upper body and lower body on different days -- just to see the results.

But right now -- I'm pretty strong on the cardio side of things while I try to drop this weight -- my jeans are tight...

It was a short cardio and stretch for me today -- did the cardio that I love from Body Max -- the first section -- just love that workout -- and the warm up I think is one of my favorites.

Don't have KickMax to compare, but I really, really like KPC -- it's fun and the time seems to fly by.

Have fun on your bike ride -- when we were coming back through the Rockies -- on the west side of them, we stopped at a beautiful stream and found that this stream has a bike path that follows it for miles and miles and miles. It looked like quite a ride and a fun one -- and we thought we'd like to come back and do something like that -- but I thought of you and how you'd probably love a ride like that. The mountains were littered in gold in the Rockies as we came through them.

Well, have the manuscript (the copy edits) due back tomorrow -- but I'm already about 2/3's through them, so hopefully this won't present a problem.

Gee, it's good to be back.

Just so I post it, I plan the following for the rest of the week:

Thursday: Muscle Endurance

Friday: Sprints and running/walking outside

Saturday: High Step Challenge -- or maybe some other circuit workout -- not sure on this one yet

Sunday: Off -- but I should go for a long walk.

Well, that's it. Have a great workout, everybody.:7

Hi everyone,

Feels like forever since I posted. I missed all of you and glad to here from you Karen Kay.

For workouts I am trying to pretty much follow this month's rotation but have only been able to get in 4-5 workouts so I have been using some of the shorter premixes and combining some workouts.

The weather here has been wonderful so I have been enjoying some walks but the leaves have not really turned and will probably not be a really colorful fall as it has been really dry here.

I am going out of town for a long weekend with my husband the a resort somewhere around Phoenix this weekend. I've never been to Arizona and I've been so busy lately I'm really looking forward to it. He has a conference and we are going a few days early, then I am flying back the middle of the week. I'm trying to remember the name of the resort - Something Mountain Resort. I've got to look that up. Have no idea what I'm going to do but just looking forward to relaxing.

Hope everyone is having a great week,

Natalie

Hi Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

It was Pyramids chest and triceps and ME abs for me this morning. Feeling nicely worked. Someday I guess I'll have to get some 20# DB's, but the jump from 15 to 20 seems so large! Maybe after I get my S&H DVD I'll buy some. Scale and BF% still heading down, and on doing less cardio...hmmmm. Think the calorie cycling is helping too.

Karen, the bike path sounds wonderful. Wish I was there to do it. Looking forward to today's ride after work. It takes all of my effort to do this ride as it's not endurance work, it's more strength and intervals for me. Will be borrowing my old bike from my niece and setting it up soon to do Spinervals. I've been told by some more advanced riders than myself that it will really help my cycling strength wise. I have tons of endurance, but would like to work on speed and power. Think I need someone to tell me what to do on the bike as I've done the just riding to music thing and it's soooooooooooo boring! Couldn't last more than 15 minutes!!

Karen, are you still doing the raw food thing? When I track my calories on Fitday, I start getting my body fat down. Glad you like High Step Challenge. I've enjoyed it the few times I've done it. With this rotation right now, I've not done any circuit workouts or total body workouts. Sometime, though. I'm really enjoying this rotation but I need to throw in some more leg work.

Have a great workout and productive day today, Karen.

Jeanette

Hi Natalie,
Glad you could log on and join us. I love hearing what everone else is doing. I too am doing this month's rotation and like it a lot. So far, I've been feeling like I've lost body fat, even though it doesn't call for as much cardio. I use the Pyramids or CTX as I don't have the Gym Styles or S&H (yet). Did order S&H and it should be here next Wednesday.

Your trip to the resort sounds very relaxing. Know you will have a great time. Wish it was me!

So nice to hear from you too.

Jeanette

Good morning all!

So glad to see everyone today. Not doing much, just getting through the darn week. Yesterday I managed to squeeze in a short workout before going to Reno for class. Today will be another shorter workout since I have company tomorrow and my house is a complete disaster. Plus there's that darn grocery shopping to do. Need to get back on track with the eating too. The Reese's minatures keep jumping in my hand.

See you tomorrow!

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie,:)

My diet right now is going the other way -- I'm trying to eat more and more raw foods, but in doing so, I think I've upped my fats way more than what I'm used to cause I'm gaining weight instead of losing it -- sigh...

So now I have nine pounds to lose -- which is really a lot for me -- hopefully a few of them will be easy to lose -- oh, Jeanette, by the way, what's Fitday -- is it something that I could do?

In truth, though I'm trying to eat better and better quality food for health -- it's calories that make the difference between my low weight and higher weight -- unfortunately. How I'd love to just be able to eat whatever I want.

Anyway, Rhea, I sympathize -- mostly because I'm in a similar situation -- not with candy -- but with these fats I've been consuming -- hard to give up.

Okay, so today was sort of a wash for me -- was so bummed about the weight, couldn't make myself do ME -- so I walked for an hour instead -- just getting out of doors was great.

But I did get the copy edits done and sent off -- so that's all well and good -- now for the new proposal and then I can have a bit of leisure time -- for a few days at least.

Your bike ride sounds gruelling, Jeanette -- mostly cause I guess -- no matter how I tried to keep in shape with the tour thing -- I'm a little out of shape -- and a little overweight, as well. Darn. But I know you'll do it. Maybe all these pyramids will help, however.

Have a booksigning tomorrow -- the final one on the tour -- yea! It's one that's sort of local -- about 1 1/2 hours from where I live.

Okay, so have a great day and terrific workout everyone -- you're off tomorrow, aren't you Jeanette? Have a great one.:7

Edited to say that my daughter is really excited about getting the DVD and the step -- I think the DVD will be delivered to her today and the step tomorrow. She's really looking forward to getting back into shape.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

On the schedule today was Legs and Glutes and KPC abs. Great workout and I felt good thru all of it.

Yesterday's bike ride was tough, tough! About 9 of us showed (I'm the only woman), the rest are aged from late 20's up to 60, but these guys are fast! Anyhoo, they started off like a shot, which was hard for me and I felt I was struggling to stay in the paceline. One of the riders gives me a push when I start falling behind, which helps a lot. The pace was just too fast for me and I kept falling behind, thinking I just didn't have it today. For the last 3 miles, I had to ride by myself (got dropped). I'm thinking, maybe I didn't eat right, fatigue, what's the matter, guess I'm not doing as well as I thought. HOWEVER, when I checked my bike computer when I got back, my jaw dropped, my average for 23 miles (and this includes slowing down for traffic, turns, etc.) was a whopping 19.6 mph. For me, that's phenomenal, especially because so much of the ride I rode by myself. The first 3 rides I had been very pleased with averages of 18.9 and then 18.7, but I couldn't believe the jump in my average! One of my ride buddies was telling me yesterday at the end that it was a faster pace, but I thought he was just saying that to make me not feel so bad. I was thrilled!!! But humbled too! Now it makes me want to work on my cycling in the house a couple times a week with Spinervals, which I hear will really help my cycling. Guess I am kind of competitive.

Karen, don't be discouraged, you will get back to where you want to be, but the eating I think is the key. I've been using www.fitday.com, a free program that helps me keep my fats and calories under control. Imafitnessfreak (Sarah) emailed me my calorie requirements and I zigzag my calories, 3 days at between 1300 and 1500 and then 1 day at 1900, rinse and repeat. Also I balance my carb/protein/fat ratio for 40%,40%,20% (don't worry, the program will automatically show you what each food has, you'll see when you get into it). On my bicycling days, I may do 50,30,20 so that I get more carbs in, but 40,40,20 I think is good normally for me. I was flabbergasted when I first started at how much fat I was eating. The natural peanut butter I was eating was way high (too many tablespoons). Maybe this will help you, take a peek at it. You may have to sign up first, but it's free.

So great your daughter is doing Cathe with you. I would really like my sister to give Cathe a try. Think she may have fallen off the good eating, exercise wagon as she hasn't returned any of my emails or calls lately. She's a pretty busy person though.

Have many errands/chores to do today, so best get cracking.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette, Rhea & Natalie!:)

Just a short post as I need to get myself to bed. This was the last book siging on my schedule -- I'll probably do a little scattering of signings here and there -- but I'm certainly not going to try to them. It's good to have the whole thing done.

It was ME for me today and I stayed light for my weights -- cause I'm a little out of shape (despite exercising pretty much every day) -- but Cathe really pushes you and left to my own devises...

The bike ride sounds incredible, Jeanette -- I'm always in awe of what you do with your cycling and this sounds like you've hit a whole new level. Wow!

I read and read and read my nutrition books to see what I did wrong and I think that my problem is that the test I took put in as a protein type and when I really read what the protein type is, I really am not -- and so I was eating all wrong -- it looks to me as if I'm a mixed type -- not a carbo or protein type -- but inbetween the two. Cause that's the sort of diet that always works for me -- so I've gone back to that -- I did lose a pound yesterday, so that's good.

Yes, I'm thrilled that my daughter wants to get into exercise -- she should have gotten her step today -- and she got the Cathe DVD yesterday -- she's excited.

Well, it's off to bed for me -- just got home from the signing and changed into my PJ's to start the lengthy process of getting ready to go to bed.

Great exercises, everybody -- and have a terrific weekend.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

It was CTX Upper Body for me, also adding on CTX All Step. Boy, CTX Upper Body was a fryer for me. I'm not used to doing the whole thing, just parts here and there. I also left biceps for last and I was cooked! All Step was really a lot of fun, mostly steady state cardio for me as I guess my cardio has gotten better so even the blasts she threw in really didn't make me work too hard. Guess that's good?

Karen, glad you lost a pound, think I gained 2, but I cheated and had a little pizza last night with DH, always makes me go up in weight the next day. I'm not worried, will just be careful today and use yesterday as my high calorie day.

Arranged to get my old bike that I sold to my niece back for the winter to use with the trainer. It's a wind trainer and makes a lot of noise so will have to be sure and either use it on Fridays when DH is not home or just close the bedroom door and see if it doesn't disturb him. Hopefully, I can pick it up soon and get to doing a Spinervals once a week. We'll see how it goes.

Today is stacking wood and some housekeeping and riding my horse in the afternoon. Tomorrow is the fall color bike ride. Think we're getting a pretty good group to go so it will be fun.

Good workouts to all. Nothing worth having is easy.

Jeanette
