KK's June Check-In

Hi ladies!

Karen invited me to join in on your Check-In group and I decided to take her up on the offer.

Look forward to getting to know all of you on-line.

A bit about me: I live in Tallahassee, Fl with my husband, yorkie, and siamese kitty. I am a medical student at FSU College of Medicine, going into my 2nd year. This is the last summer I have "off" (by that I mean not studying a ton) and I am working as an anatomy teaching assistant for the next year's medical school class. It is pretty light work and I have a lot of time to read these forums and work out.

Last year, with all the studying, even though I did run or do the elliptical machine, I guess I just wasn't working out hard enough because I got up to 144 lbs (from 135 lbs). I am 5'4". This summer I am rectifying that. I weighed myself this morning and I am down to 132.5!!! My goal is now 130, but I may lower that to 125 depending on how my body looks at 130. I do want to gain some muscle definition, so I might end up at 130.

Anyway, I am going crazy buying Cathe's DVDs. I now have all of the HardCore series (about 1/2 of them are on their way) and I plan to purchase the BodyBlast Series and Intensity Series in the next 2 paychecks.

Enough about me...tell me about yourselves!

Oh, and my workout yesterday was KickMax and today was MIC. To say the least, my buns are burning sore today. :)

Thanks for inviting me to join!

Hi Becky!

Just popping in here to read, will post again tomorrow after my workout. So glad you stopped by. I've been posting on here since early last year. Karen can probably tell you for sure when it started.

Just a little about myself, I'm 47, married for almost 27 years (in July), one son and 2 stepchildren. They are all now grown and gone. I started working out to Cathe early last year, started with Basic Step and Body Fusion, bought the Timesavers, CTX and on and on. Just love her workouts. I also like to cycle, go camping, anything outdoors related. We have 3 cats, 2 dogs (German Shorthair and a Dachshund) and a horse. I work at a State Prison, sitting at a computer all day long.

I post here just about every day, usually once a day. I also post on the Hardcore Maniacs checkin, which has a lot more ladies on it and takes longer for me to post and read.

Hope you like it here, wow, a medical student! Bet that's tough!!!

Oh yeah, I also have some Hardcores on the way.

Jeanette

Hi Becky & Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Welcome, Becky! Am so glad to meet you. A medical student -- wow! What field of medicine do you think you'll go into? Or do you know yet?

Like Jeanette said, we usually post about once a day -- Rhea, who is a lawyer sometimes gets so busy with work that she can't post, but we love hearing from her when she can. And Natalie and Jeanie, who are part of our group, visit us occasionally -- and we are always excited to hear from them.

I'm one of those old timers who exercise daily. Am in my 50's and absolutely love my exercise. I'm also a Historical Romance Author (Native American genre) and am currently under deadline with only one month to go on the book and so I often post about how that's going, as well... and today was a tough day -- didn't make my target of pages x( and have had to go back and make some fairly heafty changes.

I have most of Cathe's workouts, but am missing a few and I think the GS's are ones that I will eventually get -- I hear such good things about them -- but I'm also wanting the CTX series and can't get everything at once, unfortunately.

Anyway, tomorrow is my cardio/stretch day -- always look forward to that. Oh, and today I changed my schedule but it didn't work out terribly well... Darn. I may keep trying it though.

Well, have a terrific everning -- have a great day tomorrow and super workouts everyone.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Becky, Natalie & Jeanie!

Today's workout was Pyramid Back & Biceps (the whole up & down) and then Stability Ball Abs. I actually made it thru most of the pikes and balance with one leg off. I was surprised at that. I then added on Eoin Finn's 30 minute quickie yoga. Will work out DH tonite on the Bowflex. I'd love to pop in a Cathe weight workout and see if he would do that. Maybe a Gilad would be better, hmmm.

Last night did a 15 mile spin around the town loop. Legs felt pretty good, though not completely recovered from Saturday's ride.

Karen, hope you get your pages written today. Not sure what your cardio is for today, but enjoy it.

Becky, hope you get to post today what your workout is. Am looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi to Rhea, been hitting golf balls lately? This smoke is terrible. Hope we don't get any more thunderstorms today, but not sure what's predicted.

Must run now. Have some shopping to do after work for our camping trip on Friday.

Jeanette

Hello ladies!

It is good to "meet" all of you.

This morning I did LoMax for the first time (I just got it yesterday!!!) and then the 1st segment of CoreMax.

Oh, and yesterday, since I got some new HardCore workouts, I added on upper body MuscleMax and the 2nd segment of Coremax.

DH and I will do some yoga today after work...probably just sun salutations and some spinal twists.

Oh, and I am still not sure which specialty I want to enter. I take the first step of the boards next June and that score will determine how competitive of a specialty I can enter. Right now I am considering some sort of surgery (although not general...maybe thoracic or urology) or internal medicine w/ specialty in geriatrics (I do live in Fl!) I'm pretty open right now.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone!:)

Just an early post as I get my mind off of a radio interview I just did -- have one more coming up at 10:30 AM and then I think my July calendar is pretty free -- which hopefully will allow me to concentrate on writing...

Becky -- sounds like you are already an old pro at putting these workouts together. It took me a long time to figure out the rotations and using segments from one video to the next ... even still I tend to do either the workout itself or the premixes -- but you sound right at home.

Jeanette, that is so cool that you were able to do get through the pikes with one foot off -- pikes are the hardest for me and are something that I have to work up to.

Have fun tonight with your hubby -- you can always try putting on a Cathe video, but you might be right about Gilad.

Rhea, hope work is going well and that you're able to keep up the workouts -- even if it's hitting those golf balls.

Well, Becky, I wish you much success with the boards next June -- come to think of it, you're right. I was just in Florida and am now realizing there's lots of hospitals and centers and even billboard advertising about hospitals and centers -- duh -- :+

Natalie -- hope all is going well for you. Is the summer vacation schedule influencing your workouts? Hope you have lots of time with your son.

Well, I've scheduled myself for some sort of cardio -- not sure exactly what yet -- and then a Cathe stretch -- for now, it's back to work, interview and then workout.

Have a wonderful day, everyone.:7

Just a quick post.

Did the cardio part (the first part) of Body Max -- then went for a walk and then stretched to Cathe's stretch on the ball. Love that stretch. Also love Body Max -- though I didn't do the whole thing. It's one of my favorite Cathe warm ups.

Made my page count...:)

Have a super evening, everyone!:7

Good morning all!

Becky, welcome and glad to meet you. As, I think Karen said, I'm a public defender and for some reason am really busy this summer. Not usually that busy. Darn it. I'm 45, married, no kids, lots of animals though. I'm usually a videoaholic, but golf has been interfering with that lately.

DH just got called to go work with the fires. He does the running type stuff, supplies, food to the fireman, etc. I guess that means that I'll be going to my mother's reception on July 1st by myself. Err. Not a good thing. I guess that one of the fires, the Gomez fire is the number one priority in the state. (heard from our CDF fire captain friend who live across the street) All the major telephone lines run through that area, hence the priority.

Glad you got the page count done Karen. Keep up the good work.

Jeanette, the smoke has been keeping me indoors. In fact yesterday, it prevented my workout because the windows had been open at night and it was pretty smokey in the morning. I did not want to even try to do a cardio in the smoke. I also have the undersirable pleasure of a large know in my rhomboids (right next to the bottom of the shoulder blade), so any weight work was out of the question.

Today I still have the knot, but tried to do a cardio to get the blood flowing. I think it helped a bit, but not much. The desk work is going to make it worse. I'll just have to get up and walk around more. Oh well. I'm supposed to golf tonight, league, that's gonna hurt!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Rhea, Jeanette, Becky, Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Good afternoon. Am posting early again today. Just finished Supersets -- a workout that continues to grow on me. Love working out on that ball -- not sure why...

Hi Rhea! So nice to hear from you. Hope those fires go out quickly and soon. We, too, get them here -- but we don't have any right now that I'm aware of. I'm sorry that you'll have to go to your mother's reception alone. Bummer. At least it's for a good cause. Also, it's too bad that it's kept you indoors. I need to get out a little more, myself. I get into working and forget to take breaks to get out in the air once in a while.

Ouch, that knot in the rhomboids must hurt -- and you're golfing tonight anyway. Hope you have a great time, darlin'.

Well, I'm having lunch at the moment, but I'm going to get back to work soon. My page counts await...

Hope you're doing great today Jeanette and Becky and Natalie!

Have a terrific rest of the day, everyone!:7

Hello ladies

Today I did IMAX 3 in the AM and then the step-only premix of Lowmax in the PM. (I got my full-sized step...40in long...today and just had to use it!)

Tomorrow I plan on doing High Step Challenge. DH and I are flying up to Ohio tomorrow to visit my parents for the 4th. I may not post much until Wednesday. I hope you all have a great holiday!

-Becky

Hi ladies,

Guess I forgot to post yesterday. Yesterday's workout was Rhythmic Step combos 1,2 & the Rhythmic Challenge. I had a bike hill climb last night. There were 8 riders that showed up. I was pleased with my time considering my legs were still a bit tired from my century ride on Saturday. It's all good!

Today's workout was MM shoulders and then GS Legs Timesaver #2. My DH did a Gilad weight workout on Wednesday night and it was tough for him, especially the abs work. He was really moaning and groaning! He did do the stretches with Gilad though, which I was surprised he would do.

Rhea, these fires look better and there was no smoke on Eagle Lake road yesterday so no problem with our hill climb. Hope your back gets better soon.

Becky, enjoy HSC. I have that one too but haven't done it in a while. Have a great time in Ohio.

Karen, my new Cathe DVD's will be here on Wednesday! Can't wait to do Supersets. I'll have to wait until this rotation is done.

We're leaving to go camping today and will be gone until Tuesday so no posting from me until then. We will take our mtn. bikes and I'll bring some weights too as we should have plenty of time to do whatever.

Good workouts to all over this weekend!

Jeanette

Hi Everyone!:)

Becky -- isn't IMAX3 great? I must admit that I find it a little challenging and so almost always do it on a 4" step -- last time I did it, however, I thought I might be able to graduate up -- we'll see. And LowMax is another good one. I also have HSTA -- but like Jeanette haven't done it in a while. But it used to be one of those that I did every week.

Jeanette -- am really glad that your time was good on your ride. Rhythmic Step is another I haven't done in a while -- I'm going to have to get out some of these workouts that I seem to pass over every week.

Still intrigued with your rotation, Jeanette.

I had a feeling that you would be either getting ready to go camping or already gone. I'll be working all weekend, because I have 200 pages left to write by August 1st. But we'll have fun here at home. And my daughter flies in on Thursday -- so that will be good.

Have a great 4th, everyone. I'm feeling patriot -- as you might have guessed by my new quote -- it's a quote that I once saw in the Jefferson Memorial in Wash. DC -- we used to go running down in the Mall where all the Memorials are -- long ago...

Have fun, everyone, have some great workouts and HAPPY FOURTH!:7
